The amount of disrespect and dishonesty, along with not providing what was requested. All a huge red flag. I held my end of the deal and paid $350 for a report that i requested from the start. They now claim no report is available and was never going to be. In addition, they increased by $5k on a simple tear out on fireplace, (huge increase). When you expressed what you still needed, no response (claims of a broken phone, days later). If I could give negative stars I would. Where do I even begin with Josh Brooks. Josh was give $5000 to restore my daughter's home after a tragic event happened in her home on New Year's morning, the front door needed replaced and new flooring installed. Let's start with the door, the wrong size door was installed, a hole was made in the drywall, the screen door was put on backwards, there is a 1 1/4 gap around the exterior of the door that allows moisture to cause potential structural damage. The flooring, he did not use the underlayment under the plank flooring which the packaging states "underlayment required". The amount of trash and lack of job site cleaned up was horrible, he did not leave the key to my daughter's house after the job was "done", we had to replace all the locks. When I tried to contact Josh, I was met with name calling, threats and harassment. Josh threatened to come to my place of business and tell my boss I was a "deadbeat". He demanded more money to come fix the issues with his work, threatened that if my daughter did not pay him more, he was going to sue her. Josh was paid plenty for the subpar work that he did, his constant threats and harassment are down right scary. The level of unprofessionalism is appalling. I regret EVER meeting Josh. I'm sure after I leave this review he will respond that it's a fake review and he never did business with me. Walk.....no RUN from doing business with Josh Brooks Construction. Substandard materials, poor workmanship, poor cleanup - not recommended. Josh Brooks was hired to rebuild a balcony that had become badly deteriorated. He demolished the old balcony, leaving only the stubs of the support joists, and rebuilt the balcony using redwood lumber. While the quality of the basic construction was acceptable, as detailed below he used substandard materials in a few cases, his workmanship was substandard, and his cleanup was poor. Substandard materials: - one of the redwood 2x6s used had a large (and potentially dangerous) splinter - two more had large sections of one corner missing, and were installed such that the defect would be hidden from casual view - Another deck board was badly warped - 13 balusters were warped Poor workmanship: - Screws left incompletely screwed in - 8 Balusters split, probably from overtightening mounting screws - Unevenly spaced balusters Poor cleanup: - Many fragments of the old balcony and cutoffs from the new were left on the ground - Screws, nails, and many sharp pointed splinters were left behind - The dumpster hired for the cleanup was placed so as to block our driveway. When asked, Brooks said it would be picked up the next morning at 7am. After waiting until nearly noon the next day, the haulage company was contacted and we were informed that the pickup had not in fact been scheduled for the morning after completion of work, but rather for a time between 7am and 4pm the following day. Nothing was protected, walls and carpets are stained, memorabilia covered with debris, and the tile work MY GOD, it's the shoddiest work I've ever had the misfortune to see. Not only that, but when called out he blamed his crew, fired someone, then went on a rant about impostors hiring him based on some Facebook account he found!?
