If you have a foundation crack, save yourself the time and trouble and call Avalon Structural first. I got multiple estimates for my fairly extensive ~23' horizontal crack. I found there are three types of companies. The first type will do the minimum to chip out the rusted rebar, throw some fresh rebar in there, patch it up with a "band-aid", and charge you handsomely for a quick in-and-out job. The second will glance at your foundation and immediately tell you it has to be replaced, for an even more handsome price, of course. And then there is Avalon Structural. They will perform a comprehensive and highly structurally sound repair, removing all compromised material, charge a fair price, and stand behind their work with a strong warranty. If you visit their website, read the articles, and watch the videos explaining the right and wrong ways to perform foundation repairs, you will be well-equipped to choose the right company for your foundation job. Or, you can save the time and just call them. We couldn't be happier with our repair. The foundation looks great and feathers in perfectly with the undamaged foundation sections. My vision was of an English Garden and a South of France aesthetic. We met several times and there were at least two design changes until we reached the final design, including the specific plants such as annuals, perennials, fruit trees, roses, aromatic vines, herbs, hydrangeas, ground covers, etc. His crew were on time, polite, and cleaned up after each day's work. In my conversations with Nikos, he mentioned the idea of an 'edible garden,' which could introduce different textures and colors to the yard. I must admit that I was not keen on mixing my lovely garden with vegetables, however, our yard gets the most sunlight in the middle section of the garden so it appealed to me. Nikos mentioned the work of Rosalind Creasy in her book 'Edible Landscaping,' and even gave me the book! Whitlow Concrete exceeded our expectations! We wanted to pave our side yard and widen our driveway…read moreto fit a second car. We liked our landscaping and wanted it to be moved over. We got in touch with Dillon and explained. He understood, asked some questions, made some recommendations, and came back to us with a detailed quote. We were surprised with the price, it was reasonable and under what we expected to pay. He sent over a contract which included the estimated time to complete the work. 10-12 working days. Eric was assigned as our project manager for the project, and Jaime was the lead foreman. They were phenomenal as was the entire crew that did the work. They cleaned up at the end of every day, and made sure we had a safe way to enter/exit our home. They were friendly and kept us in the loop the whole time. During their work, we decided that we wanted to replace the front yard fence, and after letting them know, they completely replaced the fence the next day. They did all the work with the city to get the necessary approvals for the curb work, as well as handled all the work with the utility companies to make sure their work didn't damage anything underground. The result is great, and we love how it turned out. It's better than what we wanted, and they managed to do it all within the original quoted time AND at the original quoted price (excluding the change order for the fence replacement).
