It was not a mis understanding. It was poor customer service . Six weeks to return my property and you charged me more that triple the cost of shipping to send it back. It has everything to do with my stay. I repeatedly called your business because I left something there that had great value to me. Your people acknowledged that they had it , I offered to send them money to ship it back and never heard back. I had to call every week for 6 weeks and finally when I threatened to file a police report that I got a response from your Manager. Then you charge me $20 to ship it back when the postage on the envelope was only $6. That is poor customer service and has everything to do with my stay. read more

As with most hotels, they have Covid-phobia so room cleaning and towels have to be asked for but the rooms are clean and comfortable (although the pillows are a little hard). The view of the Rogue is great and the people are nice. Nothing fancy but definitely worth the money. read more

Walked into the room and there was no knob on the thermostat for starters. Then there was eye liner on one of the pillows. Neighbors had dog excrement loose outside their sliding door etc... But after check-in, the sun began setting and they turned on their parking lot lights so that when you open your door, you get blasted in the eyes with 5000 Kelvin LED light. We asked the manager to turn off the lights so that we could get some sleep. Instead he called the Sheriff to come out because we complained about the lights. We spoke with the Sheriff and then left. We have been planning a trip to see the Redwoods for a long time. Looking for rooms we came across this one. The photos on the website were the reason we reserved a room. When we arrived the room was extremely outdated and did not look like the rooms they advertised. It smelled musty and the bathroom door stuck. No air-conditioning. The walls were so thin we got to hear the people next door being loud and obnoxious. After that we got to hear them have sex. Needless to say we didn't get any sleep. If I could give Jots Resort a 0 score I would. When I booked I was very excited to have the amenities I like. These are indoor pool, hottub, sauna, gym, and restaurant and bar on the premises. When I checked in I asked if all the amenities were functional - and was told they were all "super functional". (I had also called ahead of time and asked the same question) That is where the lies began. However - most of these were fraudulent advertising. There is an indoor pool - but it was not heated and pretty much unusable. There was a nice hot tub - but since the pool was sooooo cold, everyone was swimming in the hottub. The sauna was fine. The photos on the website show a nice outdoor pool - but that does not an has never existed. The photos on the website of the nicely equipped gym (it even lists the equipment) are from some other place. They even have fitness center listed on the front marquee - yet there is no fitness center. I looked all over the building where I was sent to search on my own for a gym by the front desk guy(they likely thought that was funny) - and no gym no room that was supposed to be a gym, and NO GYM indicated on the map they give you. They claimed it was "under construction" - well the one in the fake photo was definitely NOT under construction. When I questioned the statement about all the amenities being "super functional" - the excuse was he did not know that they had a gym (which they of course do not) - I guess he never read the marquee. As for the supposed restaurant - Jots claims it is their restaurant - it is on the map with the hours, but the people at the restaurant said they are "not affiliated in any way with the resort". When I went to dinner there, I was turned away due to a large private party - already booked - and was told they could have a large party at any time - so the restaurant might never be available. The front desk guy suggested that a pizza delivery was the same as a nice dinner with a glass of local wine. Other issues (partial list) - no elevator - so one needs to carry stuff upstairs - but the handrails are old and weathered wood that could easily cause splinters should you have to hold on to one. I asked in the morning for housekeeping to deliver towels and empty trash - was told it would be done - of course not done 8 hours later. When I asked for this to be done - they were just too busy checking people in and would get to it in an hour(probably would not have happened) and were very annoyed that I dared to request this when "they were so busy". I had to bring my towels and trash to the office. I was told the manager would call me to discuss the issues - that never happened. The one truth - all the rooms do have an ocean view. Seemed clean-ish - but I was not sure they changed the sheets since they were so wrinkled. I wish I had looked at the 2 star rating on Trip Advisor first. My wife and I live in Northern California, just south of Eureka. We like going to Gold Beach, OR. We have been going every once in a while for 30 years. We have stayed in several places, as of the last few years we have found it nice to go down to the boat ramp area by Jot's Resort to watch the animal life; Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, Osprey, Seagulls and more. This trip we thought it might be nice to stay there, it was a spontaneous trip for the fun of it, the price was nice, we got a non-smoking room on the 3rd floor, overlooking the river ( I think all their rooms overlook the river! ). The room was nice, beds comfortable, the stay was very good. We will be back for sure come our anniversary in August. But for me the best part was the care of the staff for the enjoyment of our stay. We had planned to stay 1 night, ended up staying 2! On the 2nd day we stayed I had a very difficult afternoon and was in a lousy mood. I was heading inside Jot's store to get a beer and some ice cream and one of the folks at Jot's was leaving and opened the door for me. He asked how I was. I said "Mostly O.K." He said "I'm glad about the O.K. part, but why mostly?" (It's sad but most folks only care about themselves, seldom does anyone care for others unless they want something.) So I said, "Do you really want to know?" He said, "Yes." So I preceded to tell him how the last part of my afternoon went. He had kind, understanding and informative things to add to the conversation. And when we parted I felt much better! The rest of my day had turned completely around! This persons name was Sam. Sam, thanks a lot for being real, and caring. And as for the rest of you thinking about where to stay, I don't think you will be disappointed with Jot's! Enjoy your stay. read more

I recently booked a reservation through booking.com for Jot's Resort. Upon arrival we were informed that our reservation had been incorrect and there were no available rooms for our 2nd night. We had just driven over 9 hours with 2 dogs in the car and were exhausted and starving. This was NOT the information we wanted to hear. Thankfully we had the pleasure of being checked in by Sashara (sp?). She was extremely busy but never waivered in her kindness and excellent customer service. She went above and beyond fixing the debacle and we were soon in our room. She's fantastic and even kindly dealt with my "hangry attitude". Jot's is lucky to have her representing them! Very disappointing! This motel has gone way downhill. No breakfast was available even tho it was included in cost. Breezeways outside the rooms were filthy, garbage was stacked and flowing from multiple cans and dumpsters where the critters could get to them. The rooms were ok clean but certainly not worth $150 for a nite-Very basic. Hate to think what's in the old carpet! Meeting rooms were on the ground floor and they were unusable-stinky, moldy smelling. Furniture stacked heater-skelter and old...ugh! Doors are hanging open so u could see inside. Rooms are upstairs...no elevators. We won't stay here ever again, it shouldn't be in the motel business read more

We stayed at Jots Resort in Gold Beach Oregon for three nights. I am writing this review so you do not have to, or at least prepare you for your stay. When we arrived at Jots Resort people were complaining about a heat wave, when it was 86 degrees outside. Having left Southern California just two days ago, where it was over 100 degrees, we kind of laughed a bit. We assured the lady checking us in that we would just use the air conditioner, and that is the first time we were told the units did not have air conditioning! When we got to our room we could not help but notice would stale and moist the air was. I thought we could just open the sliding glass door on our balcony and we would be fine. When I opened it I discovered that there was only one long balcony that all the rooms had access to. There would be no way I could sleep at night with the door open for anyone to walk in so I thought I would just leave the door open until it was time for us to go to bed. After getting settled in we decided to watch some TV. The TV was from an era long since passed. I think I had one of these in my first apartment in 1990! Is was a 19 inch CRT television. The pleasant thing about the TV was that it did have a remote control, which I guess made up for a little bit. For the younger people out there, similar TVs from "back in the day" had two knobs on it and that was how one changed the channel. All of these discoveries made me really want to dive deeper into this room we were staying in. While searching for an outlet so we could plug our phone chargers in to, I stumbled onto an outlet with four things plugged into it...once of which was the refrigerator and the other was the microwave. As we had no intentions of using the microwave, I did not give it that much though, but for people who might use it, that would be a giant load on one outlet! Oh yes, that bathroom. The only light source in the bathroom was a heat lamp! One would think they would take the heat lamp bulb out during a heat wave and replace it with a regular bulb. One would think, but they did not. Going to the bathroom in the dark became a thing. There was also a complete lack of common sense. We called the front desk to ask for an iron so we could tidy up our clothes for the event that bought us to Gold Beach. While they did deliver the iron, I guess it was my fault for not being specific and asking for an ironing board so we could actually use the iron! With all the shortcomings you would think this would be a discounted motel. It was not. We paid $130 a night for this! read more

Location is amazing with the view of the bridge and ocean. Restaurant (that we didn't try) onsite is a nice addition, and 24 hour store with beer and snacks was great. Friendly customer service, decent rate. The breakfast you can skip, cereal, burned coffee, and orange juice that doesn't taste like either oranges or juice. 2 light bulbs were burned out, a wall socket would let a phone charger fall out due to looseness.? We were evacuated due to a fire and had to find a pet friendly motel. Luckily we found Jot's! Our room had a gorgeous view and every single employee that we had encountered were so welcoming. I met the owner the fist night and he took me on a tour of the indoor pool, hot tub and sauna area. Jade in housekeeping was kind and sweet and the front desk staff went above and beyond to help us. Customer service was AAAA+!! Thank you to the entire staff for making a very difficult situation a little easier for my husband and I along with our dog and kitten!!! read more

I've read varying reviews about this resort hotel so we had to come check it out. The resort is old, granted. But historical. Lots of people fish this river and stay here. Breakfast starts at 4:30 to accommodate them. Cereals sweet rolls yogurt coffee, better than having nothing to start your day on. Part of the resort has been updated. The nice clerk let us look at many rooms before deciding and they all look out at the Rogue. Boats go by,fish are swimming. I love it. Yes some rooms are dated but way cheaper. Dogs are accepted. And the Rod and Reel restaurant across the road serves freshly caught fish! Beds are comfy, towels fluffy. The TVs are updated to flat screens in the updated rooms but I was too entranced by the view. read more

This is the noisiest place I've ever stayed! Kids yelling and running up and down the breezeway, dogs barking, the walls must be paper thin. I had to listen to the guy in the next room snore all night. You can hear the showers running in the other rooms, the microwave beeping, the ceiling creaks so loud when someone walks above. Gold Beach is a small coastal town that thrives on tourism and peak fishing seasons. Due to the Spring Salmon run, my parents and I stayed here for 3 days to do some fishing. Jot's isn't a 5 star hotel at all. Not even close. I'm kinda struggling on this review...let's do some Pro's and Con's...perhaps that'll get the creative juices flowing... Cons: Out dated rooms Lack of amenities House keeping issues Gym is weak sauce Pros: Front Desk staff was friendly and helpful FANTASTIC view of the Rogue Otters, Seals, Birds, and other marine life Easy access to the river When we got here on Thursday, our rooms thermostat was turned up past 90! I'm pretty sure we saved that damn place from burning down. I know it was an accident, it was clear they meant to turn it off, however our room was uncomfortably warm the rest of the night. Even after cooling the room down for 4 hours. Saturday when we got back from fishing, housekeeping decided to replace our box of tissues, however neglected to replace amenities, throw away trash, or make the beds. That wasn't too cool.... I give them 3 stars because I really did have a good time here. It was relaxing and extremely fun to watch the marine life live it up in the river. 4-5 stars would've been earned if they had some nicer rooms, better gym, or proper housekeeping. 3 stars it is! read more

I received a reply from the "owner" after being discriminated against because I am only 35 minutes away. I was told to take a hike after 10 hours on a job in Gold Beach because I was from Brookings after I told them the night before when they took my card and reserved the room that I was from Brookings doing a job there for a few days and wanted to just stay in town for convenience. The owner however did not offer any compensation for being treated like absolute shit by his manager Sam. Still a pathetic business with pathetic low integrity management. read more

Well how disappointing. Should of looked at the reviews before renting a room here. Plus we really didn't have any choice cause all hotels were booked for this Memorial weekend. It was either this or Motel 6. Well unfortunately we picked this place. First off we had a difficult time trying to contact them through phone. As we drove up the place looked great outside. The front office was very nice and front desk woman was friendly. Payed for one night and it was $130. We thought that ok yes the price is steep but it has a view of the river. As we finally opened the door to our room. We got hit with a bad mildew smell. Turned on the lights and Whoa!!!!!! This room is bad... old curtains, water stain on ceiling. A Tube TV!!!! Dead bugs on ceiling. Walls are super thin. Now spending this much on a room this old and smells just old is ridiculous. This will be our last time ever staying at this place. Having been told to give Jots a try we decided to book a room for a not too far from home getaway for us and the doggo... in reality, we should have stayed home. We probably would have gotten less hassle and attitude from the In-laws that we were trying to escape! When we initially checked in with reception everything went smoothly. Upon getting up to our accommodations we turned the key and discovered that the room was occupied, clothes strewn everwhere... as well as filled with a heavy Marijuana smell. Clearly a mix up, no big deal. We went back to office and explained the situation. They apologized, I asked to possibly have a ground floor room due to our dog only having 3 legs and stairs are difficult.... the office offered us a "newly renovated" room.... and it was on the 3rd floor of a different building. Newly renovated turned out to be more like Under Construction. The room contained the bare minimum. No mirror over the sink, but a cheap hanging one behind the door. A turn dial microwave, decade old table and chairs, overturned patio furniture, exposed wiring outside where lights have not been installed yet, left behind lighter on the patio balcony. (Blue lighter, it's probably still there) This is not what we were expecting especially after having had such a mix up... and the 3rd floor was an especially rude touch after having asked for a ground floor on behalf of the dog. We went back again to the reception desk and let them know that we were not ok with a room still under construction and being on the 3rd floor was not worth the hassle. The team at the desk, a young lady as well as an older woman whom I assume was the manager on shift seemed to begrudgingly find us another room, then with attitudeasked if we wanted to 'approve' of it before we accepted it... which I kindly did. And even through us trying to smile and be as understanding as possible... the night manager ROLLED HER EYES at us as we left the office. regarding "check-in" experience. We (2) arrived at 2 pm - when the on line registration stated to check in - wrong. Because of "Covid", cleaning rooms in more detail now take longer, check-in is now 4pm, "Okay, that's understandable" I thought. Why the web information wasn't updated over the past several months, I do not however understand. We killed 2 hours in the sleepy shut done-ish town of Gold Beach, thank goodness for the coastal points. We returned back to Jot's at 4pm, but was informed there was a slight delay. (I forgot to mention, from 2 pm on, there were no smiles or nice pleasantries from the front desk.) Twenty minutes and 4 other parties checking in later, our room still wasn't ready. I found this out because I walked up to another front desk worker, who had been nonverbally busy on her cell phone the entire time, web browsing or Tik-Tok searching perhaps..? When I inquired, pleasantly mind you, with this other worker to please check on the status of our room, she did so, again no pleasantries; room still wasn't ready - more folks checked in. I then asked one of the front desk ladies, if perhaps I could enjoy a "curtesy" bottled beverage from their large cooler in the lobby while I continued to wait (it was 4:30 now), "No, we can't give anything away" she replied. They had not checked their email from Hotels.com and had no rooms to accommodate 4 adults including handicap access. Came here after a particularly bad experience in town. We rented the penthouse. They did not however tell. Us their pool and hot tubs are closed. They restricted our teenage kids of 15 from the exercise room (since they had no pool) then followed them down to make sure my husband went also. I wish they'd have been up front about it. I don't know why this places got 2 and a half stars, We stayed here while driving down the 101 from Oregon after seeing the total solar eclipse and this was the last place within 50 miles that had any rooms left. The staff at the front desk is very friendly. The room was clean, the place is a little old and somewhat outdated but it was fine, it was not dirty or ugly. The room served its purpose and we were satisfied. The rooms are a good size. The showers are a little small then I'm used to but it was fine. We were happy with staying here and we would stay here again if we were driving through the 101. read more

Decent hotel for the price. Check in was really simple and easy. Got to our room, #323 was told it was a queen bed was a full. The place is so outdated. Old bedding, we brought our own thankfully. Old outdated tv tired drapes. The carpet was old and stained. The sliding door with shared balcony was probably the best part. Other than the door being old heavy and loud when opening or closing. Bathroom area was clean. Stall shower was clean and looked newer. It was a great place to sleep. That's all we had the room for being we were visiting family that didn't have space for us at their house. The pool area was awesome though. Hopefully they update the place sooner rather than later. Looks the same as it did when it was built. My wife used to clean rooms when she was in high school and she said they haven't changed one bit. read more

Upon calling the general manager to address the issue, she repeatedly hung up on me and then told me she didn't have time to deal with this?! Sleepy town has a delta where the fresh water of rogue river and the ocean run together. The resort stretches out to a view of the rogue river. Rustic rooms are cozy with the town setting. We counted 41 small boats on the river this morning fishing and great view of it. Tonight we can watch the fireworks launch right in front of us from the town lighting the 4th of July. Feels like 40 years ago in this quiet town and enjoyed the slower life style here. Will be back again read more

I'm going to say that traveling can be tough- I've stayed in so many hotels so I'll give a more experienced travelers perspective- this place is older and in big need of a remodel- not just the little details but the big ones.... but it's clean and cared for and the reality is that when you find the older places you can get a very good deal... I mean in all honesty when I visit the coast I'm mostly out and about so paying the steep prices of the newer hotels feels like such a waste... so here you have friendly staff.. a nice little gift shop.. an on site restaurant/bar and a great location right on the mouth of the Rogue River complete with a dock to wander down... I believe all the rooms were river views and I was able to bring my dog... another positive mark for being a bit older and less pretentious... if you looking for a lot of bang for your buck this was an overall awesome place read more
