If you're looking for a cheap place to stay and don't mind a pretty old motel, I do recommend this. Unlike other hotels in the area, this one did not have any bugs, stains, or anything gross. Its main fault is that it really needs updating, especially the bathroom. The floor also could have been more clean. But I was really glad to have wood - not carpet - floors. Bed was actually pretty decently comfortable, and the tv across from it is a great size. Many channels available, including Bravo lol. As others have noted, there is very friendly service. The guy who is at the front desk, and who also took my call for booking the place, is very friendly, nice, and helpful. I left check-in with so many pamphlets and suggestions from him! This should really be named Westward MOTEL. The semi high ratings were promising but turned out a disappointment. I can say it was definitely not worth $95+ after taxes etc, for a 2 queen bed room. The office was under renovations so the sign says the office was located in room 101, a couple doors down. The gentleman checking is in was friendly but it did take quite a while given there were 2 people checking in before us. Seems they may need some equipment upgrades since the credit card payment seemed like manual entry, so that took an extra bit of time. They take your ID and make a scan/copy of it at check in- most places just require you to show the ID only. Room was on the bottom floor, easy parking since not many people it seems. Room had a weird smell when entering so glad at least the window (with screen) was able to be opened. The ac/heat unit was loud: couldn't get a comfortable nights sleep. Also if you're closest to the unit, it will blow air in your face as you sleep. In my case, we had the unit set to 67 and it was blowing cold air intermittently (otherwise it would be extremely loud if we had it on constantly). Bedding had little red crumbs: looked like someone was heating hot Cheetos on the bed/pillow. Bed was lumpy and springy. Pillow was comfy though. Cleanliness was definitely lacking. The table had sticky stuff on it, the air/heat unit had crumbs and dirt all in it, the bathroom has hairs all over the floor. The bathroom is tiny, you open the door and it's literally about to hit the toilet. Old yellowing shower head but surprisingly stronger than some higher end hotels. They could def use an upgrade and maybe utilize the "closet" space. The coat rack hanger area was hard to get to as it's behind an enclosed space. The rack was rusty and one of the 4 hangers was broken. That area as well as the bathroom could use some towel racks or hooks and there was nowhere to hang anything. Glad there wasn't carpet since I'm sure only god knows what would be on them. It was overall an iffy stay for me. I felt uncomfortable touching everything and did actually sanitize some surfaces with my own alcohol wipes, and it was not pretty. It was a quick one night stay so it was bearable for a night. Sorry, but no, I wouldn't book again. read more

This is an old no-frills motel, but it's being well taken care of and was a great budget-friendly stop on our trip. We arrived on a Sunday night when nothing was open and the friendly front desk clerk was invaluable in finding us a place to eat. We stayed in a King bed suite. Rich the night manger was helpful quite eager to please! We did cancel our 2 night reservation and left this hotel after one night. The office was very accommodating and refunded 100%. While the bed was comfortable and the linens clean. This is an older outdated hotel. Hotel phone and safe sis not work. Original bathroom and furniture. Nightly rate 150.00 bucks. I would give this hotel 2.5 stars. Also I had accidentally left my expensive pillow behind. Went back to get it 3 hours later and it was no where to be found. It did finally show up but the end of the day. It was not brought to "lost and found" but apparently found stuffed into a tiny locker in the linen storage. read more

We spent one night in Brookings at the Westward Inn. We stayed on the 2nd floor in a Deluxe King at this motel. What stood out? There IS a view of the ocean from the 2nd floor! I was not expecting that. Also, the room was HUGE. In addition to the comfortable king size bed, there was a large couch, a table, and a mini-frig. The frig has a tiny freezer that desperately needs defrosted in order to have space to put anything in it. There is a lot of unused space in the room which makes it feel even bigger. The toilet and tub/shower room feels pretty small and adding some towel hooks would be helpful. Putting in a curved shower bar would greatly improve the shower experience. read more

Excellent location in the center of everything. Large room, very clean. Comfy king bed with LOTS OF PILLOWS! Pillows range from flat to super fluffy, down, foam, heavy, light; made for an especially restful sleep. Room has heating/air (works great!), microwave, coffee maker (standard motel coffee packets), full dresser (6 large drawers), writing desk, circular table for 2 by the window. Bathroom is small, but has a couple of shelves for bathroom stuff, hair dryer and a very clean tub/shower combo. Bathroom doesn't have a fan, but it has a small window in the shower area for ventilation. A very spacious room, super comfy king bed, clean and well maintained. Bonus: I never heard our neighbors so the insulation must be pretty good. I would definitely stay here again based on price and location *thumbs up* We booked through Expedia with a company discount code for the best rate. I would NOT recommend staying here, especially during the Coronavirus. While masks are required in the state of Oregon, the cleaning staff did NOT wear masks. When I asked one lady to please wear a mask, she rolled her eyes and the team started to whisper. I sent the manager an email pointing out that their cleaning staff was in violation of the OSHA and Governor requirements, they quickly responded and told me they'd send it to the housekeeping management. This hotel had great front desk staff, rich was very kind and helpful! However if you have kids or high cleaning standards I wouldn't stay here. If this wasn't a business trip I would have asked for a refund and stayed elsewhere. When arriving the room looked like only the linens were swapped during housekeeping. The table still had spilled coffee, my toddlers feet were black from walking on the floors, fridge had spilled liquid in the bottom and the microwave was also dirty, the shower drain is stopped up with someone else's hair and even worse when I went to use the toilet there was pee, poop and pubic hair on the toilet seat! What a horrible place! Called this morning from Coos Bay to book the room. Charles was the nicest person, took my info and assigned us room 104. I asked if his establishment was clean and he assured me it was. Checked in, after a lovely day driving south on 101. The clerk was a bit rude during check in. Snapped at me to see my I'd and credit card. Hmmm--I'd already given him my credit card number this morning but, oh well. I received the keys and we pulled into our parking spot. Still in the car-- we heard a yapping dog. I walked to the door of 104 and ascertained that the dog was in the room next to ours. Just then my son called, so my sister went to the office. The clerk was also rude to her as well and said,"You're next to a 'pet room' and I can't refund your money!" The one worthwhile service she made was call the next door tenants to come get their dog. Thank you for that touch of humanity. I finished my call, and figured we better make the best of it. So, we entered the room and we're met with the stench of cat urine. $160.00 for this? I returned to the office and told the clerk it smelled in there (possibly another 'pet room'?) and again-- "I can't refund your money." Hmmm, must be all they care about. We left and I honked the horn firmly upon exit. Felt good! Shoot! An expensive twenty minutes! What a horrible place. Just a rip off. These people do not care about your comfort. They want to rip off your money with their sub-par establishment. Oh, yeah, and she refused to switch us to another room! Said, "Everybody has checked in." Hmmm... the parking lot isn't even half full. How dumb do you think I am? So, go to Portside Suites down the road in the harbor. Just thirty dollars more than this place. It's new, clean, smells lovely and doesn't make you feel like you'll end up with a disease. So, tonight we've spent a almost $400.00 for tonight's stay. My husband will be calling me any minute now. :) But, Portside is like the Ritz compared to this place. I'm just glad we could afford to leave. Dang, I could have spent that money on a nice pair of earrings --instead of wasting it at Westward Inn. read more

I was surprised at the price of lodging along the Oregon coast during the summer. Even "budget" "basic chain hotels like Best Western, nearly $300/night. Ouch. *Couldn't do it, wouldn't be prudent* My husband found Westward Inn and we booked it for my road trip. After driving over 10 hours over two days I really wanted a clean room, comfortable bed, and a bathtub. I got that and more. The owners are kind and helpful. The breakfast was continental but well chosen. The location can't be beat. Walk to numerous restaurants, grocery, etc. And of course the sea is RIGHT THERE. My room was clean and neat and had all the basic amenities. Heads up: if you want to take a bath you'll need to ask the office for a tub stopper. Apparently, too many guests have flooded rooms. (WHO does that stuff?!) Btw, be sure to ask about what I was told is locally referred to as the "Chetco Effect" that brings in excessive moisture in the mornings (copious amounts of palpable drizzle) and burns off by noon every day. Campers and backpackers surely need to know about that. As well as people carrying stuff in cargo hitches so they can properly tarp. read more

I've stayed here a few times while fishing. This last trip the bed was so soft I could hardly sleep. The staff was not very helpful either. I had accidentally left some items in the room when I checked out and didn't discover MY mistake until I got home. I called the desk and the receptionist said the cleaning crew had already left for the day. She said she would call me back the next morning. When she did not call me by noon the next day, I called her and she said the cleaning crew told her they didn't find anything. She said there was nothing else they would do. Nicely Remodeled Hotel In Town Center. This property is OK and is finishing a remodel. Comfortable bed and nice space in a king room. The Chairs in the room needed to be cleaned. We were on the ground floor of a two-story structure away from the main street. We could hear people walking above us and the water sound when flushing or showering could be heard. Light continental breakfast. Parking was just enough on-site. The staff was at the front desk and support services were very nice. 90 dollars a night for a room with enough toilet paper left to wipe ur butt one time, sink wasn't draining and when I tried to plug it and unplug it to drain faster it broke, causing it to get stuck plugged. The toilet was clogged after the first time flushing it(just number 1). Definitely not worth the money that got spent and I am very disappointed that I had to pay for the second night in advance. I recommend it! We have stayed here before and didn't remember anything bad and it's close to Fred Meyer and fast food. Friendly staff, nice size, clean room, reasonably priced 109.00 for a King bed. Hotel staff need to get some cat traps out here. I booked a room for one night and I've been up now for 2 hrs due to continuous, non-stop meowing, hissing and fighting outside my hotel door. This is just awful and unbearable. I finally had to turn the tv on to drown out the meowing. It's 4 am and I'm writing reviews. I'd rather be sleeping soundly but I guess that doesn't happen at this hotel. My advice...find another hotel. read more

Not the cleanest or most updated hotel. Central location but very loud especially at night. There where hairs in the sheets, some bugs and urine on the toilet. Bed was comfortable and check in was pleasant. They do not clean your room and when asked for towels, they did not bring them. I would not stay here again unless I was desperate. read more

There was a lot of noise (parking lot behind the room and room was close to the road) with tight parking. It is walking distance to restaurants and has a fridge. Someone paid a lot of attention to little details in the room and outside. Best price in town. The room was clean enough. The flatscreen TV was nice and the room was spacious. The staff was helpful and friendly. However I did wish that the contential breakfast was more substantial than pre-wrapped items. A waffle maker would have made this 5 stars, haha.
