Food crumbs on the floor from the previous peoe, black mold in shower. I tried calling the front desk and all they could say was we had to wait until the ne t day to talk to "management". spoke to management the next morning after a restless night, and they said they would have it corrected by the time I got back to the room in the afternoon that day since we are on vacation. came back late afternoon, they had 7 hours to clean the room and change the bedding but none of this was done. called the front desk again, and we were told management will be in the next day....see a pattern here lol his place is a joke if we had not already had our money taken out we would have left, Id rather stay in my car. i tried calling management again the day after we checked out to square up with them, which was Monday, because the manager Shsarah apparently had the weekend off, when I spoke to her she didn't have time to talk to me and said she would call me back and it is now Wednesday. I booked through hotels.com I got a pet friendly hotel for us to bring my sons emotional support dog he has trouble sleeping at night with out her. On hotels.com there was nothing on there informing me that I could not leave my dog unattended. When I checked in the front desk asked me if I had any animals and I informed her of my sons emotional support dog. All she said was ok I just needed to know so the cleaners can do a pet clean. And then handed me a paper to sign. I should have read it. I gave it back and she told me about the restaurant next door that was good. Which wasn't pet friendly so how was I supposed to go if I couldn't bring my pet? Anywho the next day we did a few of the things we wanted to do that we could not bring our dog with us and came back and checked on her. She was fine we filled up her water. She had food left over. And we left after about an hour of hanging out there to do another thing she couldn't come with. When we got back she was gone. We had her on the back porch because she enjoys being outside and if she had an accident easy clean up. We were all in a panic so I called the front desk and they rudely went off on me saying that they took her because she was left there unattended for forever. And neighbors were complaining that she was just left there. They told me they were going to call the cops on me and take her to the humane society. I get really bad anxiety so it's hard for me to confront people. I went to the front desk and retrieve her. And notice they have her leash. Which they would have had to rummage through our things to get that. She went off on me saying it's neglectful to leave a dog unattended and all I'm thinking is people leave their dogs in kennels when they go to work. The back porch is a nice size and it's the same lady that checked me in she told me they aren't allowed by themselves and I said if I knew that I would have figured something else out. And went back to the room. I called hotels.com and complained. And they said they would talk to the manager the next day. While we were waiting for a call from hotels.com we talked to both neighbors this morning and one didn't even know she was back there and the other said she was perfectly fine and they even like pet her every time she stuck her head over to say hi. They were going to say something to the people taking her but decided not to get involved. Not that long after we heard a knock on the door and they sent a man up who said because we complained to hotels.com we will be getting kicked out 1 day early. They said they would be refunding us for the day and my boyfriend was upset they went through our things and the man said it's his room he can do what he wants. We got informed later that we would not be getting a refund for the day we got kicked out even though we were gone before check out. It was very traumatizing for my children seeing their dog gone when we got to our room. And they also fed her when they shouldn't have. Now she is sick. This whole experience definitely ruined our vacation. read more

I stayed 5 nights, had a good time. This is a fishing resort right on the Rogue River, not a Hilton timeshare, adjust your expectations accordingly. I'd be happy to stay again. They have an indoor pool and Jacuzzi, a continental breakfast, free coffee for guests all day long in the expansive office and guest lounge and a decent tackle shop, mostly geared for salmon fishing. Don't expect a full blown tackle shop, but nice for the place that it is in, massive inventories tie up massive amounts of money for businesses. There are indoor tables right at the windows facing the mouth of the Rogue, at the bay and the ocean. For the price I paid $65 winter rate on 11/26/2019, it don't get no better in my opinion. Gold Beach is a little light on inexpensive eateries, but Ray's Supermarket has a hot item self-serve area right as you walk in, that is $7.99 per pound; sweet and sour chicken, General Tsao chicken, spring rolls, etc. Kinda like Chinese takeout selections, with a little more items as well. I got about 8 pieces of sweet and sour chicken, Chinese takeout size, it was $2.15. For breakfast, the coffee shop at the bookstore is priced very good, $2.25 for a 16 ounce coffee, and a free refill for eat-in guests. Ask them what a they serve, because the menu is not complete. read more

Great spot. They have clearly done a lot of work to this inn. While there is no AC, there's a fan provided and screen doors to allow fresh cool air in. The check in and out process was so easy and the rooms were clean. The bed was comfortable and the view impecable! read more

First off, the room was clean. We were not in the renovated building. The room smelled fine. The bed was ok, not great though. The view is AMAZING! The price (over $200) is high for what you get. Here's why I won't stay here again, besides the price...there is no way to cool the room safely at night. Let me explain. First off, there is no air conditioner in the room. There are no windows to open, just a sliding glass door. The door is on a shared walkway that anyone (public included) can access. So, you cannot leave it open (for obvious safety reasons) unless you are awake. So, while you sleep, you are in a stuffy room with no air circulation. In addition, the refrigerator next to the bed is running all night and putting hot air into the stuffy room. Both my husband and I were tossing and turning all night because of this. Stripped down clothing and not using sheets and still too hot. At one point, I started getting claustrophobic it was so warm with no air movement. (I work in small airplanes and helicopters for a living, so that has to tell you something.) Talking with our fishing guide, he said he used to recommend Jot's to his clients, but has since stopped. He's been guiding there for many years. Said it's gone downhill and they charge way too much. One last thing, BRING EARPLUGS! Walls are super thin! You can clearly hear every word the neighbors are saying. We will find other accommodations next time we head over from Medford for the weekend. read more

Well we booked online for 2 nights and when we went to our room it was terrible. The room was filthy and the purple carpet had stains from animals ? As pets are acceptable. And the place was moldy and I have COPD ...I was upset, as I was the one that booked it. My wife went down to the office and complained. They said that the room hadn't been upgraded yet. And we could have an upgraded room for $50 more per night ??? Well anyway we moved to the other room. We were out here for a wedding, and ended our stay with finding USED NEEDLES in the iron holder on the wall. Add to that a bug-infested, unkempt room, and horrible service/food at their accompanying restaurant. My opinion of this place comes with mixed reviews. While I love this resort for all of the memories I share with my family, I have had some negative experiences, too. My family used to go here once every year for our family reunion, and went here for over 10 years. It is a great location for the random little area that is Gold Beach....but the treatment and lack of appreciation from the staff is what ended up making my family decide to stop coming here. The PROS: -location. It is located right next to the Rogue River, and only a quick drive from the beach (you can even walk, if you want). -condos were GREAT! They were so fun and as kids we would all have so much fun hanging out in our room, playing hide and seek, eating lots of meals together, etc -penthouse was nice--this was the nicest place in the resort (of course). Only negative is that it was above the main office. -indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. Rain or shine we always were able to go swimming at this place! The CONS: -the staff. We came here for many years, and never felt like they truly appreciated our business. They were never very friendly, and always felt like in a way, they dreaded us coming (we were a big family with lots of people, including lots of kids--which can get loud, I understand). Really, this is the only negative I can think of, but it is the reason for my 3 star review. I wish they learned to appreciate (or at least show their appreciation) for their return guests! **the staff issue only applied to the office staff. There is a new restaurant Saltwater that opened as part of the Jotts Resort. We went there for dinner and received awful service and food. The waitress acted like we were a nuisance and brought a pitcher of water to the table because as she said " if it got busy she wouldn't be able to help us" I looked around and there was not one person in the restaurant. The clam chowder was spicy, our food arrived with the wrong order and I had to ask to have the meal that came after everyone elses to be comped. She was irritated we asked for it free. I would not recommend this restaurant at all and never plan to return! read more

They greeted us with a smile, even though we were late arrivals during renovations. We will are excited to see the new additions to the place. They had a great location and the rooms view was to die for. We had the king-size with the soaking tub that was amazing, couldn't hardly leave the room to enjoy the beach because it was so wonderful. My husband enjoyed the sauna and I enjoyed my steak from the restaurant. We definitely will be returning. Fantastic view, great prices. Cons: spider webs ask over the place, even woke up with one in our tub. Very old decor, smells musty, the complimentary shampoo was half empty so obviously from the previous occupant. Other than that it was okay. We had no other option but this place as everything else in town was booked, but I probably wouldn't have selected it myself. It's not horrible, but not excellent either. I won't complain about the smell as it is on the ocean so it's expected to have a little moldy, old folks home kinda smell... Went to crab some tissue. There was none... There were numerous bleach stains in the carpet throughout the room... The lock on the sliding glass door, well I'll say a little jiggle and anyone could get in... Well let me state the employees were great ! How ever, I booked two nights on line . When I arrived was sent to a room that had purple stained up carpet and the door entrance was thick with dirt. . I went back to office and they stated " oh that room isn't updated yet" . Here let me upgrade your room . Which in all honesty was much better . Ok it went from a 1 star to a 3 Star . So we did the jet boats tired from all day on water going to watch tv and boom no tv at all . (Meaning their cable was out) so he said give it an hour. So son and I went into town and came back to yes still no tv. I even called charter for them. Troubleshooting easy nope still no cable . Charter said it property issue . Weird they have cable in the office going ... This place is a resort? How so? Sure it is on the water . Sure I can go sit on shared balcony with whimsy plastic chairs . I may be picky, but a girl just wants to sit back relax a bit . No? I would suggest to you . Ask for updated room! Make sure everything works in your room . Beautiful view of water. We had downstairs unit so able to walk out patio door, right into shared patio walkway leading immediately into grassy area overlooking small dock and water. Has hot sauna and indoor pool. Sauna and pool closed at 10 but still saw people using at 11:30pm. Nice room, just that the front door was also screen door. Never gave us a key, odd that room was unlocked when first entered, only received card to access pool. Dangerous and inconvenient since can't look screen front door without key. Had to go get one. Found our room very rundown. Slider door lock was broken and the pin used to keep you and your valuables safe could be pushed out from the porch side. Veneer on bathroom door cracked and peeling. Towels substandard.drapes dingy dirty, carpet old and sunbleached. Queen mattress so creaky and tilted you roll into your partner. Right side may be 1"or so higher than left. And very uncomfortable "sleep". ..hard. Staff was friendly but said they're fixing some of the sliders and to use the pin. Duh! Oh and the pool's still "broken". I stayed in two different rooms Friday & Saturday night. Both rooms have a clean king bed/sheets, clean bathroom, clean towels/wash cloths & cable TV. The view of the river to the ocean is FANTASTIC! The rooms need new carpet BADLY but, I don't mind because I wear flip flops in the house anyways. If you are wondering about balcony security, don't. Look for a long silver metal lock at the top of the sliding door windows. It will be impenetrable from outside intruders. Area is safe, so I wouldn't worry about it. read more

They were discussing the fact that the young lady at the counter told someone in town they were staying at jots. Correct me if I'm wrong but what happened to privacy. We loved the accommodations. Room was HUGE, and clean with an incredible view of the River. The staff was nice. This was one of three absolutely disgusting motels I have ever had the displeasure of having to spend a night. The front door was a sliding glass door and was at the top of the rickety stairs so if you didn't want anyone to look into your room as they climbed the stairs you had to keep the curtain drawn. Floor was slick laminate, no carpet. Furnishings were spartan at best. Thick black mold looking substance in the shower door bottom rail that my wife tried to clean, got a lot out but not enough for her to risk taking a shower. Room smelled like urine. When my wife asked the clerk for any type of deodorizer she didn't have any and when my wife told her the room smelled of urine she simply shrugged and said "hmmm". Cobwebs heavy and thick in the stairwells, windows in stairwells so dirty you could barely see out. Sister's room had a lampshade with a large hole in it. Beds were not professionally made, looked like someone made the bed then laid on it. Our blanket had a horrible odor to it. Wood railing on the very narrow "deck" at the back looked like it was ready to collapse, paint on the building peeling. Staff was uncaring and curt. The "breakfast" that was included in our room rental consisted of coffee, toast, cold cereal, some convenience store packaged pastry. We didn't stay the second night we had paid for (no refunds for early departure) because my wife wanted someplace to take a shower and on top of that, we were overcharged for our room. Ok this is kinda of a bitter sweet review ! I've stayed at Jots over the years but had been 10 yrs since I had been in gold beach . We found a groupon for this past weekend as I wanted to go and relax in gold beach .so I thought what the heck it's been along time I'm sure they've remodeled and they have restaurant and nice bar on site so we could have dinner and a few cocktails and not have to worry about driving /taxi . Upon arrival I could tell it was the same ol place just a little more worn down but heard they had a couple partial remodeled rooms and after the groupon mishap that took forever to get sorted out we got one of the newer rooms ! Nice bed and new floors but same ol 70's everything else but not bad ! Upon arrival at the rod & reel restaurant/lounge we discovered a note saying closed today but try back tomorrow! Hmm... something funny happening here ! After asking the front desk what the deal was we found out that new owners had recently bought the property and were in the process of getting there olcc license. Understand that process but would have been nice to know on there website or when called that this facility was closed due to the new owner process as it was the main reason for staying along with the awesome river view ! With all that being said , I am excited to see what the new owners do with this wonderful facility located in a great spot on the rogue river ! WE love it here!! Not a fancy hotel, but the views and location are the best. It's clean and updated, comfortable, and every room has a great view of the bridge and Rogue River. We've been here for 3 years in a row and will continue to come when we can. The fish cleaning station is right there, the staff is very helpful and everyone is kind. February, cold, pouring rain, wind. Husband tasks me with making a reservation one more hour up the road which is Gold Beach. Jots, looks ok, never heard of it. I make sure there is a handicapped accessible room on the phone because my dying sister-in-law would like to take a shower. Fast forward, her brother, my husband goes to check out her room, notices it is not handicapped. He goes to the front desk and starts to explain why this wont work and what we were told on the phone and the owner comes out swinging. Hollering, not letting my husband speak. Kicks him out, calls the police for trespassing. Sister is changing in the second room. He has to tell her to get dressed and they have to get back into the car, the weather at night, find another hotel. The owner told my sister "You can stay but he has to go" My sister died a few weeks later and I hope in reading this the owner pauses with others and might see there are emotions guests take on the road, especially when a loved one is ill. That was one of the worst nights of her final trip thanks to this inhospitable motel. Keep driving. read more

Okay for a simple place to stay while fishing. My wife and I were salmon fishing in August at the mouth of the Rogue River at Gold Beach. Jot's Resort was recommended by our guide as a convenient place to stay. There is a dock in front of the property and he just swung by on his boat to pick us up. Nice! On the whole, our stay was enjoyable. The hotel is rather old and in need of a serious face-lift. Our room had a king bed, was reasonably clean, had no weird or musty odors, and offered a nice view of the river (apparently all hotel rooms do). There were several small maintenance issues with our room, but nothing worth changing rooms over. There are no elevators in the building (not suitable for the handicapped). Lugging bags up to the 3rd floor was a bit less than desirable. The folks at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. We found their downtown restaurant tips to be generally on target. One afternoon, we were tired from fishing so we had a simple lunch at the adjacent hotel restaurant -- a good place for cocktails with a view. We had a couple simple seafood dishes at moderate prices. Gold Beach is a small town -- complete with local stories and a bit of gossip. It seems this property has been family-owned for some time and is currently in a state of transition. That probably explains the obvious lack of facility care and upkeep. Our room was about $135 per night and was just about our threshold of pain for such a simple place to stay while going fishing. We checked other hotels in the area and couldn't find a substantially better alternative. I wouldn't give this property a rave review, but it was okay and very convenient for our fishing trip. read more

We have really enjoyed our stay at Jots! It is nothing fancy but a nice fit in this little town, it is very clean with a beautiful view of the bridge, river, the ocean and a very well keep landscape. We once again visited Jot's and again had a great experience . The help is friendly and very helpful . Our room was clean and comfortable . The view of the River and Patterson Bridge are very photogenic . Of course the Sea Lions had to make their presence known as well . The Spa was sure nice after a day exploring the coast . Throw into the mix the dirty room, the crappy bed and the tweaker party next door that involved loud music, stealing of all the chairs on the 2nd floor balcony and general chaos at 2am and you get the picture. When I called about the noise, the clerk tells me "I know him, he's a nice guy, let me talk to him" so obviously it was a friend he rented a room to in order to party. We have stayed here twice now, and would stay again. Jots is inexpensive and has rooms which allow pets. As for the rooms, they have been pretty clean and orderly. The rooms we have stayed in are extremely outdated and certain things are worn down. For example, the sliding doors are really hard to open. But, for the price it's hard to complain about that sort of thing. Jots has a nice view of the water, and the restaurant across the street was a lot of fun. As long as you aren't looking for something really nice, Jots isn't bad! And, like I said, great price. read more

My family and I stayed here last night. Dated, but clean for a coastal old resort. The problems I found were that of you book on Expedia...don't. They have completely different information than on Jot's website. Expedia says that Jot's is "Dog Friendly", but only a few of the kitchenette rooms are. Then, you still have to pay $15 a dog. The dog walk area is fine, but people don't pick up their poop...no surprise (unfortunately) there! We, however, carry out own bags, but there was no where to dispose of it around the grassy area...so we had to bring it back to our room. Bummer. Our kitchenette room definitely had been designated a "pet room", because there were stains ALL OVER the carpeting. I think they are updating their rooms, and I assume that those won't be "pet friendly". Haha. The shower was clean, but there was mold on the ceiling. Bummer. Shower head was low, but plenty of water pressure, and hot water didn't run out. It did fluctuate with people using or flushing toilets though. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and utensils. Excellent access to the dock, if you bring your boat. Short drive to the beach or shops. Good price for what we paid, and we might stay again....if every nicer place was booked again.
