Ahhh.. I've been going here for years! Before every vacation and never had a problem. I would get no chip pedi, and a regular manicure... this time. 12/07/2024 I went to get a regular manicure.. he started to do gel (I don't like gel) once I noticed, I declined and stated just regular. Well he then just rushed the polish on my nails and sent me away. Later that day the polish started cracking on my nails... so now I have cracked clear polish.. I don't understand how hard it is to get a nice manicure.. especially charging 32$ for something so simple. Part of me wants to go back and get it fixed.. but I rather not. This is my favorite nail place in Rockford. They are very clean- they line the pedicure tubs with plastic, use autoclaved instruments, and often wear gloves. I have diabetes and have gotten infections from other locations in Rockford- never from here. The interior is cute. They respond promptly to Facebook messages. Depending on who you get, I've had my gel nails last anywhere from 2-4 weeks without chipping at all. Massages for manicures and pedicures vary based on who is performing them and how busy they are. I would definitely recommend making an appointment. Edit: this place is really hit or miss depending on who you get. Some of the employees do not listen or understand what you may be asking for. If the owner is there she will usually set things straight, but otherwise it's a bit difficult. My last appointment took 2 hours for a pedicure and no-chip, but it was because I walked in during a super busy time. Edit 2: since I had a different person this time, the manicure didn't last as long. I got a chip after 1 week. However, the pedicure is holding up better. Trade offs I guess! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ read more

I was in Rockford for a family funeral and I wanted my nails to look nice. The gal that did my toe nails did a good job except first they came over with gel nails and I hadn't said I wanted gel nails for my pedicure. I had been looking at the bottles of polish and told them I wanted the dip for my manicure and they whisked me back to the chair and handed me a couple of the nail sample rings. I wondered how they could have all their polishes on a ring but I thought it was nice. I knew I'd pick from a ring for my manicure. When the lady started to do my toe nails she got the heat unit out and that's when I realized she wasn't going to do a standard polish. When we got it straightened out I didn't want a gel, one of the other employees went up and picked out a color for me which I was happy with. Then the owner did my manicure. She did some things I had never had done before and I wasn't real comfortable with. She used the small drill to even out the surface of my nail, take off anything along the sides of the nail, trim the cuticle at the back of the nail. I had never had my nails done like this before. She was also very positive about the color, that it would be a lighter shade in the sun, and a darker shade inside. It really hasn't changed. I had this done last Thursday, May 25, 2023, and the polish is already chipping off - a larger chip then I can cut back because it's beyond where my nail is and there's no way to patch it. When I've had my nails dipped before they have lasted 10 days to 2 weeks. With the tips this cost over $100. I'm not very satisfied and I won't go back there next time I'm in Rockford. We're leaving for a wedding next week and I'll have to get them redone before we leave. read more

I love the dipping powder and it can be hard to find a salon that does a good job and has a great color selection. I used to be a regular a couple years ago when Vivi owned it and shortly after the sale, however, I haven't gone in nearly a year. I went last week for a pedicure and it was the worst experience I've ever had. The massage, which lets be honest, is half the reason you even get a pedicure, lasted less than a minute. I had to ask for certain services, which should have been included. This used to be my favorite place and I'd send everyone I knew, but it looks like I'm going to be in the market for a new salon. read more

This salon has gone downhill! Twice, I have recently made an appointment, and still had to wait 20-30 min before being taken to a chair for pedicure. Last night I arrived at 4:40 for my 4:45 scheduled appointment. I was taken back to a chair at 5:10, only to sit there until 5:30 before someone finally came to start my pedicure. Left without drying my nails at 6:10--1 hr 25 min for a basic pedicure (not a deluxe). Worst part was that they charge an extra $3 to cover the Covid cleaning. Yet they sat me at a station that had a used water bottle with used gum stuck to the lid--clearly had not cleaned the station. I look around and there is dust everywhere and plexiglass dividers are dirty. Watched 1 client leave after a manicure and no wiping down the station before another client sat down. Time to find a new salon. read more

Made an appointment for the same day and they were able to fit me in for a no chip and pedi. Great selection of colors and even better customer service! Such a friendly staff. Inside decor was tasteful. Prices are good. Would come back again! Almost forgot what I was there for because the conversation was just delightful and not bothersome like most nail salons. My nails looks great and they deserve your business ! You won't regret it. You can tell its family own and they care about their work. P.s.Their kids are present so keep that in mind if you were looking for a quiet spa like music or ambiance or whatever but I am not picky and care way more about my nails and the service. I've tried many different nail salons in and around Rockford and JoVi Nails is the best, hands down! They have a friendly staff and environment, extremely sanitary and the best selection of colors for no chip and dip. The work they do is excellent and I'm convinced would last a month if I could get my nails to stop growing. Ive never had issues with chipping or damaged cuticles. They get new colors often that match the seasons very well. The designs and techniques are very advanced. They are very customer centric and if you have a damaged nail or don't like the color within the week they change it or fix it NO CHARGE! There aren't many salons that do that for their clients. I've been a customer here for a couple of years, and I will not be back. The girl that did my nails the past couple of times is new, and has an attitude. Both times instead of using acetone to remove my no chip polish, she drilled it all off until my nails got so brittle and thin. I can't even wash my hands under warm water without my nails burning. Another employee yelled at her and instructed her not to use the drill, and the girl cocked an attitude about the drill being easier. It was like fighting a toddler to get this nail tech to listen to instruction. I had to constantly coach this girl throughout my appointment. She started applying polish while I still had old polish left over and debris on my nails. Instead of paying close attention to what she was doing, she was making racial comments about white people, people who have money, and how her friend should be representing Mexico with her nail color choice instead of red white and blue for America on July 4th. I'm Hispanic too and my mom is from Mexico. I love our culture. But this girl has no respect for customers, and boldly makes racist remarks in front of everyone. And the one training her told her to hurry up and learn so she can quit this place, while my nail tech complained that she's always broke and makes no money in front of me. These girls here just obnoxious, and extremely unprofessional. I totally understand if you dislike your job or you're under paid. I hear you girl, but then go somewhere else. Went here 1.5 weeks ago for a dip manicure. They did dip on my nail and gel polish for color. Peeled right off after 7 days. And now the dip is chipping off. Got a no-chip here for the first time last week. Prices are typical of most nail salons. I was greeted immediately by a very friendly and cheerful woman. They offered me a beverage while I got the manicure too which was nice. The man who gave me the no-chip was nice and just the right amount of chatty (I don't particularly like to talk the whole time. I come to relax). He stopped multiple times to make sure I liked what he did (the shape of the nail when he filed the first one, the length, and even the color for the first hand). My nails looked amazing and have lasted two weeks so far. The quality and customer service make it an easy decision to go back soon! Highly recommend. read more

Very disappointed in the service I received after reading all the great reviews on yelp. I had dip on my nails and asked the technician if she could replicate how thin my current dip was; she never answered and I asked for a second time and she only smiled at me. When she was done it looked like big globs were on my nails. So I asked her if she could make them thinner; she appeared frustrated and grinded them down but made deep gouges and took the color away; the sides are rough and look poor. read more

Please please do not go there. I went to get a simple manicure and came out with not one but 2 blending cuticles. My polish on my nails chipped just hours after getting them done and were a 3rd of the way chipped off just 3 days later. I've since decided to remove the nail color from my nails because every time I look at them it serves as a reminder of my experience there. Moved to the Rockford area a couple of years ago; found this place and was simply in love. I would come here every two weeks for a pedicure like clock work. Got deployed for 8 months came back and I immediately noticed they were under new management; the vibe About a month ago I came I for a pedicure and the guy was rude and very rough using the tools; I dismissed it and decided to give them another chance. Walked in today shortly after they opened was not greeted for several minutes. NO ONE was in the shop! Finally the lady yelled from the back of the room how can I help you? I asked for a no chip pedicure. Had to wait another 3 minutes for her to tell me to have a seat. NO ONE was in the shop. A guy came out the back stopped, looked at me (never spoke) and walked off. The service itself was subpar and the lady rushed my service; cut my nails to short and acted as if she didn't want me to be there. I will not be back! I will take my money elsewhere. Tried going here after hearing good things from a friend. I messaged for an appointment for me and my daughter. When we walked in everyone just stared at us. Customers and technicians. No one greeted us, just stared. Very uncomfortable. We stood at the front desk and were going to sit down and a woman yelled "what are you here for". I explained we had an appointment for 2 no chips and we were told to "pick out polish". I won't tell all the details but after being seated in 2 different chairs with no technician there, finally a young man came and told me to put my hand in a bowl of water. This was 30 minutes after my appointment time. Staff knew this was our first time there and were not friendly or helpful. The table tops and lamp bases were dirty and there was a good coat of dust on the cords for the equipment against the wall. My nails turned our OK but I will not be going back. Ewe. read more

I went to get a French tip manicure on Saturday(5/26/18) and by the next day after a couple hours of swimming they were almost gone. I'm very irritated that they came off. I've gone swimming with cheaper nail polish on before and it lasted a lot longer than this nail polish. I called about getting them re done and they said that I can come in to get them fixed. Hopefully they didn't charge me for it. The person who was doing my bails was also pretty rude. He was very rough and constantly pulled my fingers and hand. He made a mistake and started to put acrylics on my bails even though I wanted a French tip. Thankfully my friend caught it in time where he didn't put it on. But he had already cut my nails shorter than I like and buffered them. After he realized he made a mistake, he rolled his eyes and mumbled something under his breath. He immediately started taking to his partner in his language and I can only assume it was about me. How rude!? I regret giving him a $5 tip. So I am hoping to go back and get them re done. I'm going to be honest, I know this place has really great reviews and I'm probably just really picky but I went there once and was not happy with my nails at all. I wanted perfectly square glitter ombré nails and it started off square when she applied the tips but then after she filed them the shapes were all over the place. And the left and right hands did not match each other at all in length. Matter of fact, none of the fingers matched each other in shape or length. I also didn't like her technique. She filed my nails for a quick second didn't buff or shine them so when the acrylic went on it looked all scratched up underneath and she the same for after the acrylic went on. A quick file and then polish over them. I also wanted a full heavy glitter ombré and she didn't do them heavy enough. After all that I paid $50. I wasn't satisfied at all. Again it could just be me being really picky because I've had certain nail techs do my nails in the past who paid a lot more attention to detail and made sure everything was perfectly even and each finger matched in length and shape. I can't begin to say how sweet and wonderful the staff is here. I accidentally dropped a bottle of purple nail polish all over the floor and my brand new Uggs. I was inconsolably crying and a mess.
