Kevin is the absolute best! He's the only person I will let do my nails from now on. He did my nails three times already and each time I loved! I have been looking on Pinterest for inspiration and he does the design exactly how I ask. The prices are also very reasonable!! They also have great snacks and drinks so that's a plus. Appointment Scheduling is a mess. They have people answering the phone who do not know how to use the scheduling system. Made an appointment at 4 pm to find my nail tech just took a walk in and told me they could not help me. They used to be great but have a new owner. Do not recommend. read more

I went in on the 13th of June and my experience was not good whatsoever. I went in as a walk in and had a bruise on my toe that had acrylic on it my nail was not broken or torn it was only bruised. I asked the lady that was doing my nails to please do a soak off instead of taking it off with the nail extension and she didn't listen to me. She proceeded to pry underneath the acrylic that was extremely thick and continued after I asked her to stop because I was in pain she said she was almost done and kept on yanking. I tried pulling my foot back and she was like stay still I almost have a piece. Then she yanked very hard and my toe started gushing blood. The middle of my nail was completely ripped off and she said oh I can't believe you did this to yourself.... Mind you when I initially hit my toe there was no blood or pain unless pressure was applied because of the bruise. I told her to stop and soak off the rest and she kept on using the nail. Once it was off she lifted up my natural nail, applied acetone on my open bleeding wound and then nail glue and pressed my natural nail down. I also asked for a different pedicure and she didn't do it but I was way too focused on how much pain I was in and the consistent bleeding even while painting my nails to be concerned with that. Overall I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience and will not be going back due to my pain being overlooked. Also to charge $4 a toe for acrylic removal is ridiculous. read more

I've been going to Joy Nail & Spa for about a year now and I love it so much!! The staff are always so welcoming and they are always able to schedule my appointment or fit me in if it's a last minute request. These are my most recent nails done by Jenny!! She did them nearly identical to the inspo picture I showed her and she did an amazing job. Normally when I ask for a design or something fancy on my nails I'm told they are too short and need tips, but I just showed Jenny the picture and she said okay and did the damn thing! If you like fancy nails artwork this may not be the best place to go. After reading the reviews and seeing the photos I was hopeful that I had found a nail place that could execute beautiful designs For basic nail jobs, they get the job done. The basic pedicure was good and my 5-year-old daughter enjoyed the massage chair. The prices are fair. All the techs seem nice and worked together. I love showing off my nails but this design is not something I will be proud to share. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed and seated, even though it was a Saturday afternoon, there was no wait. The receptionist was so sweet and friendly which I appreciate. The nail technician who did my pedicure is Mai. She was so kind, paid attention to detail, was gentle but thorough. Kevin did my gel-x and he was equally kind and paid attention to detail. Like most new folks to the Woodbridge area, I too was in search of a new nail salon. Having come from my nail place in Fairfax (of 5 years) I did a lot of research and reading reviews before I decided to take the plunge on a new place. This place had pretty good reviews, and the pictures looked comparable to what my nails typically look like. However, I think the high ratings and reviews of this place is strictly based off of a handful of technicians who are actually good. As an establishment, I believe all workers should be top-notch, so that services can be consistent. This is not the case!! The FIRST lady who did my pedicure did not file my nails into any particular shape, I had to watch her like a hawk and direct her to do stuff, and on top of that she did horrible paint job (uneven color/layers and paint all over my toes). She also tried to multitask and wrap my nails to soak the gel paint off while getting my pedi. No problem with that, if done right. This woman put a HUGE piece of cotton on each finger, which caused the acetone to run down my hands and get all over my fingers. After about ten minutes my finger nails and finger tips started to hurt so bad, like a hot pain..so i took the foils off and had to talk to another tech to explain what was going on, explaining that that much acetone directly on the skin is NOT good!! She looked at the size of the cotton ball and said something to the tech in their language, then redid the foils- she used the cotton from ONE foil to make THREE.. smh! So back to the pedi... My toenails were not even at all, and she cut one of my big toenails way too short (big no no!!! Ugh!) A second tech did my paint over and she shook her head in disbelief the whole time, pointing out all the errors that were made in the first go round, not only with the paint but with the pedicure- she kindly fixed what she could and actually gave them a square shape like I originally asked. She also suggested I speak with Lucy (the owner) which I did. She asked if I had the pedicure done at Joy nails, I said ummm yes about 20 minutes ago! The woman who did my gel manicure was more attentive, and clearly knew what she was doing. I didn't, however, appreciate when she told the woman I wanted a polish change because I "didn't like the first color"........ actually I need a polish change because it looks like my 6 year old son did did my pedi. I kindly informed them whether I changed the color or not, the pedi was being redone. The two stars are for the nice and more skilled tech who re-did my pedicure. I've read the review responses where the owner has defended the salon describing it as "high quality" salon, which is untrue. From the techs down to the materials and paints they use (Barely any OPI colors, or quality base and top coat paints), there is nothing high quality about this place- just your average salon with a few good techs that are hit or miss. This may be high quality for Woodbridge standards, but for women who truly know good nail service and quality, don't even bother. I'm going to take a hard pass on coming back, and will just make that 40 minute drive to Fairfax..ugh! The sacrifices we woman make for beauty! :) read more

Joy Nail and Spa is where I go to have a truly relaxing experience! It is easy to get a same day appointment for a mani and/or pedi. They serve the most delicious ginger tea and offer a snack of fruit and crackers to tie you over until your next meal. They also have two large screen TVs which allows me to catch up on the news while sitting in the massage chair having my feet done. The color choices for nails and toes are second to none. It's easy to find your perfect color when you have a dazzling array of choices! Everyone in the salon is friendly and welcoming! I have gotten to know all of them in just over six months as I love to take care of my nails and feet! Lucy is a real artist with permanent makeup! She has given me the brows that I have always dreamed about but was getting too tired to pencil in daily...I highly recommend her services if you are looking to make your beauty routine easier! Taylor really knows how to give me gel nails that are just perfect! She is really a perfectionist and wants to make sure that you are always happy with the results. Kevin does an amazing job with acrylic nails and gave my 14 year old daughter the nails that she wishes she would have if only she took care of them better! He also has done some soothing pedicures for me and that makes my feet feel so soft. Joy Nail and Spa has a private room for couples to have pedicures in private while playing the most relaxing music. They also offer massages, waxing and threading. Joy Nail and Spa never disappoints as they ensure that you look your best and feel better when you leave their salon. I will probably pour the sugar too much on this review but seriously, I found this salon almost a year ago and won't go anywhere else! They do my gel nails so nice. The owner's name is Lucy, and she's always there to greet you with a smile. They give you a drink and snacks while you're getting your nails done. The place is very clean (some places in Woodbridge are disgusting). A couple of reasons they aren't like other salons: -they don't gossip about you in their language, so you're not uncomfortable -they treat every client the same (some places cater to those spending more $$$) -they don't ask you personal questions and are pretty quiet unless you want to talk -they sterilize EVERYTHING (all the tools come from a sealed UV bag), all the pedicure stations are cleaned after they're done using it -they send you text reminders so you don't miss your appt -they offer new services but don't push anything on you (which is nice because I can only afford the basics) -they give you good advice on what your nail problem is and why it's happening (I got this first hand because my nails were starting to become yellow) I've had my nails done by almost all the technicians and they all do an equally amazing job. My sisters and I are relieved to find a place in Woodbridge. Thank you guys for your hard work and making my stubby fingers look amazing! read more

I have been going to JOY NAILS for about a year or so and each trip is great and better than the last. Since I cannot do my toes anymore and my wife told me to find a place I looked around and went to JOY. WOW, fabulous people and a very friendly atmosphere all around. I have read the reviews and I realize that you can not please all the people all the time and that even in baseball there are three strikes and you are out, people who complain are few and far between. This place hits a GRAND SLAM with me all the time and for that I am most thankful. Yes as an older male we do not find our comfort zone in a nail salon, but here it is just a great treat and they give you great treats that are health wise wonderful. I wish I could give them more stars!! Amazing customer service! I came in at closing and they still took me AND did not rush while doing my nails!! The staff is very friendly and easy to communicate with. They make you feel like family here!! They feed you too! I asked for clementines but they also have other snacks like chips! Lucy did my pedicure and she is in one word, perfect! She loves to talk and ask questions but she also did a fantastic job! I got my gel manicure done by Kevin, and he too is great! Hands down coming back here! Lucy, the owner, also gave me great advice on how to keep my skin soft and smooth. I have eczema and she told me in a matter of 1 hour what it took me months to figure out and research!! She even went home to get me cream to smooth my eczema itchy and dryness! read more

This is my first and last experience at this shop. I went there because I read the 5-star review by another fellow Yelper and decided to give them a try. I was a Walk-In and they took me for a pedicure within 20 mins. Everything was going fine until she painted my nails and I noticed my left large toe was bleeding along the side and I glanced and the right large toe was also bleeding. WTF, she had used those damm nail clipper to much and obviously to deep. So as she proceeded to paint some more I told her to remove all nail polish because I didn't want to get an infection. She did apologize and said the clippers were to sharp -- aww, you think? When I went to the front the owner still charged me $30 which pissed me off! Never come back read more

I was highly encouraged by the manager to set an appointment, so that I would not have to wait for a preferred nail tech. I set the appointment for a pedicure 1 whole week prior to my appointment date. I was asked to wait with my feet in the water. The nail tech finally arrived to do my pedicure 30 minutes later! She proceeded to start my pedicure, and it wasn't until I asked her whether she knew that I had been waiting for her for 30 minutes that I realized she had Not been made aware that I was waiting for her. This is the exact reason that the manager "herself" encouraged me to make the appointment. One thing that I know for sure: The Lord above sees all, and He can handle any situation better that I can. I had a Brazilian wax and a facial by Lucy. She is really friendly and professional. When she was doing the waxing she was very gentle and used a small strip held tight that did not feel painful like the other places i have used before. She made her own sugar wax which she used and showed me the two ways, with and without a strip and asked which felt better for me. I loved the gel way which was also very fast. I paid $50 when I usually pay $60. I really enjoyed the facial too. I had micodermabrasion, steam, extraction, face massage also a neck shoulder and arm massage as well. Totally relaxing and glowing. Nice people, great facility. Lucy is the sweetest! However, a lot of the nail polish is very old and thick. I have had my nails done here at least ten times; half the time the end result was less than stellar, such as bubbles in the polish when dried, poorly shaped nails and lumpy polish. However, when I get the right nail tech, my nails are beautiful. Paying $60-$80 each time to get my mani & pedi done properly half the time is unacceptable! Although everyone is welcoming and pleasant, that does not mean everyone should be a nail tech. read more

Before I had made an excellent review, but after this I will not be coming to this salon. I called in on Friday the 14th to set up an appointment. I wasn't sure who I was speaking to since the last time I called to get to know about this place. I asked to make an appointment to get a gel set and a pedicure with someone who has good experience in doing nails. But after hearing the person's nasty attitude after I asked for an experienced nail tech, I quickly changed my mind. Will not be joining this salon to get my nails done. read more

Came in for a Spa Pedicure, full-set, and leg waxing and the warm friendly welcomes I received when I walked in for my appointments are always awesome. Sofia did my first leg wax ever and what can I say? She did it very gently didn't hurt as much as I expected! She also gave me an incredible massage while doing my pedicure and I almost fell asleep! Coming from a man, I have to say this place is pretty awesome. I first started visiting when my wife dragged me along to get her nails done. I saw that they did those foot massage things...pedicures are they called? And I said why not? There's nothing like laying back once in a while and getting a pedicure thing. I have been going to Joy Nail & Spa for almost a year now. I love the service that I receive. The spa is always clean and the owner(Lucy) always makes you feel welcome. Kevin is simply an amazing nail technician . Trust and believe if you have an issue with you nails and the owner knows, she will make it right for you. My boyfriend & I went here for the first time for pedicures, we got the tropical spa pedi. It was kinda a last minute thing so we didn't make an appointment, but they were happy to take us as a walk in & we were in a chair within 5 minutes. Lucy did my pedicure & May did my boyfriends. They were amazing! Good conversation, they gave us snacks & water. I would recommend this place, it was clean & didn't smell like chemicals when we walked in. I am now a regular at Joy Nail & Spa. The place is new and is kept very clean and very quiet and serene. Also, everytime I go there, the service has been impeccable. All the technicians' nail work is very good. They always take their time to do my pedicures and manicures, never feel rushed. Lucy's facials are very relaxing and my acne is clearing up nicely. I love everything about this spa. Just had my first facial from Lucy and I feel fabulous, I look pretty good too. I indulged in a hot stone massage and it almost put me to sleep. It's very clean, which is important to me. The receptionists are friendly and professional, which is also a plus in my book. I am going to be making appointments on a regular basis. In area recently for convention, dropped in without an appointment. Asked for a 90 minute deep tissue massage (I am very tight). Great service, and great results, worked out tightness in my shoulders. Also spent time working out tightness in my glutes, hamstrings and I-T bands. Therapist reminded me to drink more water, something I know I should do a lot more of. Overall, I was very pleased with the results, I felt 10 years younger. read more

My wife and I have been coming here for a long time. Even when we moved further away, we will not go anywhere else. All of the employees are very courteous and they offer everything they we need. It really feels like we are on vacation and can let our hair down and relax. I would strongly recommend everyone trying this getaway experience at least once. You will not be disappointed. From the moment we walked in, the manager never welcomed us. He seemed more interested in watching videos on his phone than helping customers. I had to repeat multiple times that I was only there for a Gel-X removal, yet he kept telling the technician I wanted a manicure. The removal itself seemed fine at first, but afterward I realized there was still a significant amount of Gel-X residue left on my nails. Even days later, I'm still finding random pieces that weren't removed. My friend got a new Gel-X set and mentioned that her technician didn't properly prep her nails before applying the extensions. When she tried to explain the design she wanted, he repeatedly pushed back instead of giving her the chance to show him her reference or discuss the details. The overall experience felt rushed, dismissive, and lacking in customer care. This was one of the worst nail salon experiences I've ever had. We left feeling disappointed and would not recommend this salon.
