I'm a 50 year old man, grew my hair out for a year, have never seen a hair stylist in my life. I scheduled an appointment with a Tier 6 hair stylist (Ester who I don't know) and my appointment was today, Friday 26 June 2026, I show up 20 minutes early and the receptionist says Vinny will be right with you. I said I thought my appointment was with Ester? She said she was not available. I asked what tier stylist Vinny was. She said tier 3. I said my appointment was with a tier 6 stylist and asked if one was available. She said no would you like to reschedule (after I had already scheduled and drove up there). I decided to just move forward with Vinny and then got a lousy haircut by someone no interpersonal skills and no interest or talent in styling hair. After a year of growing my hair out and the very first experience in a hair salon, I honestly wish I never went there. The service sucked, the stylist sucked, the whole vibe sucked meaning a bunch of nonprofessional teenagers that have zero customer service skills. So no, I would never recommend this salon (if you can even call it that). read more

Went here for my prom look and the makeup that they did looked NOTHING like my inspiration picture, the base was cakey and not smooth and it felt extremely heavy when I asked for light makeup. Did not have my shade and did not help when I asked to fix it. I ended up wiping all the makeup off by the end of the night. The salon was really nice about scheduling me in. I had a haircut in the peak of pandemic, and there were ladies outside to take temperature, check in, and provide hand sanitizer. The only thing was that they were also loudly complaining about the mask requirements. That definitely made me feel uncomfortable. The experience was good and the staff was very nice. The salon is beautiful and modern. The haircut was just okay though. The back was good, but after I washed my hair and could see it un-styled, the layers were like choppy, flat ledges. I really like this salon. They are great about scheduling you in even if it's short notice. I called on a Thursday afternoon and got an appointment the same evening. Sukyi did such an amazing job with my hair!! She took her time cutting my hair and did exactly what I wanted. She put in a lot of effort styling my hair based on my very specific hair type and texture. No one can ever get curls or waves to stay in my hair for more than 30 mins, but hers lasted for days! She styled my hair so well, that I didn't want to wash it even a few days later. I will definitely be returning to her. i have come to statement twice and both times i was blessed to be in janells chair. the first time i came in i had fried bleached hair and she helped revive it with a nice shag haircut and some tips on how to maintain it. the second time i came in and my hair was better, thanks to her, but i need to take some of the lengths off my ends were split and dry. she gave me my dream cut and did such an amazing job. i have complex hair. it's curly/wavy/color damaged and also just a lot of hair. it's thick and heavy but she executed everything perfectly. thank you janell! i highly recommend going to statements salon and asking for janell i promise you won't be disappointed. read more

Today was my first time trying this salon and I didn't have a great experience. Stars are for the nice spacious vibe at this salon and for ease of scheduling! My stylist and I spent 30 min discussing what I wanted (highlights, cut, blow dry ), but we just didn't understand each other. Finally I decided to cancel the color bc it was getting late and too risky to pay big dollar and not end up with what I was hoping for. I always have one request when I get hair cuts- nooo products in my hair please. I've been getting hair cuts for 20 + yrs so I know what I like and what works for me. No means no. I also asked for volume. But my stylist started with applying a viscous serum on my face along my hairline, without telling me what it was for. At the end of the haircut she sprayed something in my hair again without telling me what it was. And later while I was turned away from the mirror and unaware, put a fruity Serum in my hair. Serums weigh my hair down and do not allow my blow dry to last. I walked out with flat hair, no highlights, goop on my face, and down $75. Sigh. read more

I went in hopes for a stylist to work magic on my hair. Lately, my hair has been very dull and flat. Even would break. So I figured it's time for a simple trim to cut off split ends and have the shape on my hair ends more defined. I was recommended by a friend to try their salon as her hair came out beautiful. I really wanted Christine Hunter because she was the one who worked on my friends hair. However, she was not available at that time so the receptionist suggested the stylist Alex and Kristi. Since Alex fell into the time I was most comfortable with, I went with her. I checked out her page and it was mainly color but I assumed she knew her cuts also... Went in. Told her what I wanted, which was face framing and an U shaped cut on the ends and if she can try to keep it long but defining the U perfectly. She washed my hair and started snipping away. I sat, thinking she knows what she's doing. After the cut was done, (btw my scalp slightly burned from the hair dryer close to my scalp... on top of that, my thin hair was suffering), she didn't even show me how my cut came. It's only when I went home to check how the U shape looked and my goodness... I almost cried. I say this because hair has been a major insecurity of mine since I noticed my hair is light and thin. And also a holiday was coming by for me and my family, that I wanted to be ready. I felt anxious, until a friend of mine who is a barber, helped clean up the ends a bit and made it look decent. I wouldn't recommend Krysti. Full disclosure: I didn't contact the salon about this, or give them an opportunity to fix because I truly feel like this is unfixable by them. I also left pretty happy because it looked ok when I left after being all blown out and straightened. When I got home and really got a good look, I was SO disappointed!! I went to a high end salon in DC to get it fixed and they said it was going to take a couple sessions to color correct. They couldn't believe how bad it was. They did an awesome job at the first session to get some of the orange out, but what an expensive fix this is going to be! When I put my hair up it looked like I had tiger stripes. There were bleed marks everywhere And my hair was so damaged!! If she couldn't do what I wanted her to do in one session, or at all, she should've just told me (although I know it's possible, because it's been done before. Not at statements, but elsewhere. This is third time when they messed up a simple haircut. I've tried different "masters" and the only one so far who has done decent job was Diane. Suki just chops your hair with a flair of a master and walk out like someone had ran a loan mower over your head unless you tell her step by step what to do. The last haircut I got from Isa (Bella) was beyond bad - back of the neck is crooked, one side is chopped straight, the other has a fringe, temples are not matching, hair chopped roughly and not blended, it is nearly impossible to make it look good no matter how you try to style or how much product you use. I've never had such bad job done even at Haircuttery before from where you kind of expect poor cuts, but to pay $75 for a simple cut and now having to wear a hat to cover it up until it grown out - is a bit much. Haircut - The stylists are nice and the place is clean. However, my husband has gone to this establishment TWICE since we moved to VA. Twice he has shown a a picture for inspiration. Twice they have cut his hair as short as a soldier. The pictures show length, therefore I do not understand the disconnect. Very disappointed. I went to Statements for partial babylights and Iszabella did an FANTASTIC job. I can't say enough how much I like it and appreciate the result, and it looks exactly like what I had envisioned. She listened closely and answered my questions, and took the time to talk to me about what I was looking for, and explained how she was going to achieve what I wanted, which I really liked. I have medium blonde hair and have been getting highlights for years and years, but I felt my most recent highlights were too chunky and my overall tone was too golden. My ends were solid blond from the years of highlighting. I wanted a more ashy/beige overall blonde and blending for a more natural, dimensional-throughout look. I left the salon thrilled with my hair, and days later I'm walking around telling everyone how awesome I look, in case they hadn't noticed. In summation... I highly recommend Iszabella! read more

Wow! What a find in Woodbridge! I had an amazing experience here. I went to the Aveda Institute to get some balayage highlights done. I showed the stylist extensive photos, with my dark brown color at the roots and woven honey and caramel highlights. I left looking like half of my head was dipped in straw colored paint and a greasy product weighing my hair down. It was horrible. So I did what any girl does and tried to fix it at home. I got a box dye kit and while it looked great on top of my natural color, it turned the bottom of my hair greenish grayish silver. I just had a baby two months ago, have to go back to work in a week, and my hair wad pretty much the only thing I felt good about until this. Needless to say. I had quite the meltdown. I made an appointment for a color correction the next morning at Statements. I initially was booked with Crystal and asked her to just color over it and get my brown hair back, but she asked me to show her what wanted, not just so it looked ok. I knew that this was going to be a good place after this. Crystal ended up being really booked for what I needed, so the owner Nikki stepped in and OH MY GOD, what a saint. She had her whole crew tag teaming my hair (although she did the bulk of the foil and the cut), and I she was so incredibly nice. She clearly loves what she does, is highly skilled, and her employees and students LOVE her which is always a good sign. I have never loved my hair more after leaving a salon than at Statements. Everyone there was wonderful, and I am so glad I found this place. I have never been the person who has a "hair salon," I just end up getting a trim at Hair Cuttery. But after this, I plan on gong back to Statements. read more

I wasn't satisfied with my haircut on Sunday Nov 12. I asked for an angled Bob with it shorter in the back. I provided pictures of my past haircuts. I asked to go shorter about 3 times and still didn't get what I want. I also believe that there is no angle at all. I didn't feel that Vinnie was communicating with me and was ready to move onto the next client who was probably more priority for him. Also when scheduling. I expressed my concerns about haircuts in general and asked to be placed with someone who would be understanding. I'm not satisfied at all with my cut and it's unfortunate bc it was my birthday cut as well as my first cut in 2 or 3 years. I have 2 kids and is hard enough to get away.  I tried to submit this through your website but it wouldn't go through hence the email.  I'd be happy to discuss further if needed but seems no one cares enough to reach out. THE OWNER DOES NOT CARE IF THEY MESS UP YOUR HAIR! I met with a stylist (Haley) about 2 weeks prior to my first appointment where I showed her pictures of what I wanted done to my hair. She stated that it was a balayage style and that she could do it for me. On the day of my appointment, I paid $227 (before tip) and was told I'd need to come back for a second appointment. I was initially pleased with the result of my first visit under the assumption that it was just that- the first step- my hair had lightened up nicely, although it was very choppy and blended horribly. There were spots that just weren't bleached giving a layered ladder look. I was pretty nervous to return for my second appointment, but assumed my stylist knew what she was doing. I asked her to bring the blonde up and make it look highlighted towards my roots hoping that that would help blend the color up. She brought the blonde up and I was again initially pleased with the overall color. When I returned home I noticed that the splotches were still there. It looked horrible. Please see the pictures I posted here on yelp. I was also shocked that I had to pay an additional $110 (before tip) for this second appointment. I emailed the salon immediately and attached pictures. I called and left voicemails. No one seems to care. I waited several days for the salon to get back in touch with me in hopes that someone else could fix it or that they would at least refund part of my payment since the final product I received was SO not worth $400. They never did, and have yet to do so- it has been 25 days. I made an appointment the following week at a different salon where I had my hair fixed. I could not wait longer than three days to get another appointment somewhere as it was that horrible. I had been to Statements several times prior to this, however will NOT be returning and would not recommend Statements to anyone. read more

Been to statements many times before. It can be hit or miss just depending who you get. I've had Courtney before and she did a GREAT job on my color, really listened to me too. Today was a total miss with Vinny, I didn't feel I was heard at all and I won't be back. I told the stylist that I wanted what the previous stylist had done last time I was there, which was the 2nd darkest color (2N) mixed with a little of ash color, and that whatever I had on file was old from March 2020. He said he was going to check what was on file anyway (even though I had called ahead and knew it was old..) and then came back and said he would know which colors to mix from what was on file. I reminded him again about how dark I wanted it and he said don't worry and walked away. Color was put on sloppy and without care, done in large sections instead of little by little. When it was washed I was disappointed. It wasn't at all as dark and rich as I wanted. When I mentioned this to the girl who washed my hair and was about to blow dry (my stylist had gone MIA at this point), she went and got him, he came back and said what's the problem? I mentioned the color being off and he said it was just the lighting but then said he did 3N..not what I wanted. They ended up putting a dark toner in and rinsed it out without letting it set at all, I don't think it made much difference. Color was also left all over my ears and neck and forehead and my clothes were drenched and scalp burned at the sink. When I got home, I saw patches of gray around my sideburns and forehead area. Where do I begin? I started going here about 6 mos ago. The first time I got my hair done with Raquel it was okay. That's my fault. I asked for something and then changed my mind. Didn't realize it wouldn't look great. Second time I LOVED the color. This last time it's just been okay. There have been times the price has been increased dramatically. Especially for my son whom I referred. I truly believe he was overcharged for his service. In their defense, I didn't say anything about this. Just took note. My daughter recently got her hair done and came home after 5 hours and her hair looked not one bit different. The last two times I've had an appt with Raquel I have been kept waiting for an obscene amount of time. This last time it was almost a full HOUR. I got a bit annoyed and asked the two young girls at the front, and they just looked confused. Meanwhile I'm watching my stylist socialize. Really ticked me off. Also last appointment, it took her almost 3 hours to do my hair which is stupid. I've NEVER had this happen. Shouldn't have taken so long but she was busy ordering food and doing no idea what else since she barely touched my hair. This leads me to my last and final Point. Raquel almost NEVER touches my hair. She has other learners do it. Last time a guy attempted to wash my hair and I got a nice shower. Water all down my back. Waited at the sink for 1 hour. I timed it. She didn't blow dry it. She didn't style it. She didn't flat iron it. This was the second time she has passed me off to less experienced members so I won't be going back to her again. In part because I'm charged for a higher tier stylist but she's not doing any of the styling. All she did was brush color in my hair. I'm over it. Looking elsewhere Update: June 2019 Never going back to Raquel. I've asked her numerous times not to curl my hair and every time she blow dries it I end up leaving looking like a fifties housewife. Color is brassy and yellow and not the white blonde I have asked for. Time to look for another place. read more

Instead I got a very normal, boring haircut with feathering and no layering at all. When I tried to direct her to shape the hair more, she cut the sides and not the back. I could not really tell until I got home. I was never offered a mirror to see the back of my hair. Will not be going back. read more

For a salon this size, it runs like a well-oiled machine. The staff who fielded my phone inquiry were very helpful in selecting a stylist who would be a great match for me. The pricing is competitive with other salons in the area. The stylist I ended up with is Rebecca, who is awesome. (You can find her on Instragram @BestTressedByRebecca). She listens to me completely every time and provides exactly what I'm looking for (which is pretty natural). I feel like the whole process is pretty transparent. The salon doesn't upcharge to finish your hair (i.e. blowdry). The salon keeps long hours so it's pretty easy to get an appointment. Even my husband has had great success with a few different stylists here (he normally sees a barber but once in a while he'll pop in for a clean up at Statements). I would definitely recommend this salon if you are looking for a new salon. If I had any advice, it would be to call in the morning when they are less busy and tell them what you are looking for specifically so they can match you with someone who meets your expectations. Things as simple as your age/demographic range make a difference in setting expectations for your service. (i.e. an older stylist doesn't have the same social media influences as a young customer and therefore will likely be on different pages in terms of communication and setting expectations). This review is for the salon but more specifically Margo. I came first for myself as a gift from my husband in December. 4 months later, the cut is still nice and the highlights I haven't been able to touch up for personal reason blend naturally with the rest of my hair. More recently I came for a dramatic make over of my 9yo who went from a long blond style that was dragging her down, to a modern blue hair buzzed cut with some top length. She fixed a poorly done balayage via gloss and gave me a hair cut that suited my needs and complimented me. I went from too light and limp hair to volume, a healthy beautiful chocolate brown balayage, and left happy and hair educated. I'm giving this salon three stars because I am a long time client and I used to love this salon, until recently. For starters, they are a teaching salon. This means that when they can, a more seasoned stylist will oversee the work being done on your hair by a well trained student. I do not have a problem with this practice. What I do have a problem with is them charging me full price for the services of their "higher tiered", when the student does most of the work. I had two foils lightened in the front--that's right, just two small foils in the front of my face. Germaine to my story is the toner portion of my highlight was accomplished by a student, she checked off on it after her smoke break. For this I was charged $145+tip. Then when I had to come back in because my highlights in the front were too brassy--the higher tiered stylist did not fix it--she sent a different lower tiered stylist to tone my front--again. I could still see a ton of brass after this new stylist redid the job, so she volunteered to redo it a third time. I appreciated this, but was caught off guard by a pretty condescending tone when this person said I should have said I didn't like the brassiness (It was literally the words I used to confirm my appointment) --and that it was my fault I confused her the first time and that I was the one with the communication problem. I still did not like my hair after the third time, but I wasn't about to be lectured again. I left, unhappy and settling for just ok hair. Is that really how you want to feel coming off a new hair do? I won't be back--it's a decent salon with very overhyped stylists. If I could say they worked miracles--then maybe I'd stay, but it's just a decent salon. Many more salons around. read more

I will NEVER be coming back here or suggesting anyone I know to go here. I recently moved into the area a good couple months ago now and decided that I wanted a salon close to me. I found and had heard about this salon and gave it a try, only to be highly disappointed. I had pretty long hair that was in desperate need of a cut and it also was time for my annual big chop. When I came into the salon, I was at ease seeing that my stylist also had pretty curly hair like mine. We spent what I thought was a solid discussion talking about how I would like my hair cut--and then we began. During my cut, he gave me nice tips on how to keep my hair hydrated and I thought that was very nice, but my happiness didn't last. When he turned my chair around at the very end, I was absolutely mortified and on the verge of tears. He had not listened to A SINGLE THING I HAD REQUESTED. I was so in shock that I just got up, paid and left. I broke down in my car and days after. It was like he decided a hair style all by himself. I, myself am very lucky that this was not in close proximity to my college graduation. Bernadette's work is amazing. Let me start off by saying, I have been to expensive, fancy/trendy salons that seem like they have these former models standing around doing hair. In hindsight, it almost seems ridiculous because in almost every case, I have felt extremely uncomfortable there or judged. I went here after another hair disaster (bleach botch for balayage). I had no idea who to go to, and I was really confused about why I was heading down over the Occoquan for a salon (I tend to stay north of FFX county). The receptionist was very kind and said that 2 stylists had openings and so I picked the one with the earlier time slot. I can't even begin to tell you what you hair looked like before bc I never took pics to document the disaster it was, but now it is a smokey ash blonde lob that was EXACTLY what I wanted. I have been to many salons where I gave completely freedom to my stylist to do whatever. One time I walked out looking like a 60s housewife, the other time I looked like a pixie cut disaster, and the last time I looked like a striped tiger with flaming orange and black hair. This time, I walked out a polished person with the perfect hair (as perfect as it could get with the breaking-level damage I had). I can't say enough about Bernadette... I was indebted to her for saving me. Whether she likes it or not, she is my go-to hair professional. Now about the salon - Located in a shopping plaza in Woodbridge/Lakeridge, you would not expect it at all. Parking was not too bad, but the plaza was not busy during a weekday so.. who knows how it is during the weekend. When you walk in, the salon has lots of black accents on an ivory tile floors and Ivory walls. It is not super trendy, but who cares as long as the stylists with skills are there. The receptionist desk seemed like they tried hard not to stare at my hair, but I was only mildly uncomfortable... The clientele was mixed - young 20-30s women and some older ladies.
