I was recommended this place for a cheap sauna with hot/cold pools. They were right, it was cheap, but you get what you pay for. Two small towels, and no commons area. The saunas were not very clean, but the temperatures were alright. Cold pool wasn't very cold, but this isn't uncommon. The single non-sauna room, a salt room, was gross and smelled like rotting tatami (straw flooring). However, this isn't even bad compared to the company. Almost every time I went into a room, there were inappropriate activities happening. It's not just awkward, it's very unsanitary. Impossible to relax, and someone attempted to casually have a grab at me while I was sitting in the corner. After just waiting in the rest area till a sauna was finally empty, I laid out a towel to cover the seats and just tried to enjoy the remaining time in peace. But then, a staff member comes in and tells me to not lie down because it's rude to the people who want to sit. Not even mentioning that there was about 5 more open spots with me lying on a towel, THIS is what counts as being impolite?! Well that just sent me. As if the old man doing things to himself on the other side of the room is a gentleman. To summarize, the sauna is gross, the company seems more gross, and the staff are complicit in highly inappropriate activities taking place in their business. Went for the first time to give myself a spa day for my birthday. I ended up getting the body scrub and enjoyed it very much. I have never felt cleaner. The body scrub area is in the middle of the wet room, but is separated by frosted privacy glass. The hot tubs were very relaxing. I enjoyed the sauna, but not the steam room. The steam room was so hot I had to hold my towel over my face just to breathe. The clay room was very nice and relaxing. I did not try the resting room. Everyone was very nice and respectful. I was skeptical about this place due to some reviews, so I did not have very high expectations. I went because a friend goes here for full body scrub one a month and he's very picky about many things. My experience went surprisingly well. I loved the body scrub; I felt really clean and rejuvenated. I got the scrub and massage combo. I'll probably just do the body scrub next time. Massage was good for the price of the combo, but if you want real massage, go to a massage place but expect to pay more. Cleanliness seems to be the primary concern of some reviewers. True, they can do better, like scrubbing the limescale off of the walls and redo the grouts. I didnt see molds or any yucky stuff, else I would have left in a heartbeat. Customer service is horrid. I asked for an additional towel and was refused. As a regular patron, I don't deem that request as excessive but I guess customer service doesn't exist to these folk. As a sauna, it's average. It is just the wet area, there is no jimjilbang common area. Also, DO NOT bring your children or other family here. The men's side is not a family-friendly environment. I LOVE coming here to Joy Sauna. What a treat to be cared for by these lovely women. I received a sugar scrub massage from Young that was so fantastic. She was very thorough and had a flow to her service that was very enjoyable. Karen performed my facial and it was the best one I've had by far. She was very kind and knowledgeable and respectfully offered skin care suggestions and products without being pushy, which I made me feel very comfortable and welcome. Anna, at the front desk was very attentive and observant. She noticed I had been there for a long while and was so thoughtful as to offer me a banana and one of her muffins. I noticed some improvements like usage of rubber mats instead of carpets. I appreciate that a lot. I also want to point out that cruising behavior is not allowed. I go here regularly and don't see any bad behavior. Socialization, relaxation is the norm. Like in any spa, I anticipate some bad apples. But very rare. read more

Let me start by saying I enjoy this spa. The owner and staff are friendly and listen to customers request. It's very relaxing and always leave feeling better. I have a few requests for the improvement of the spa and everyone's health. 1) clean steam room at least once a day with anti bacterial and anti fungal disinfectant. Owner , You can buy disinfectant bottle that attaches to hose . 2) Owner, throw away mat in the corner shower . It smells awful. Throw away all fabric mats. The entryway can be dodgy, occasionally homeless folks are passed out in the hallway leading to the entryway, sitting on cardboard boxes and eating and drinking... which is a bit unnerving. The crowd on the men's side tends to be mostly... flirty. But you will be left alone if you'd like to be left alone. It's been years since I've been here. It was definitely pre-Covid, so at least five years since I was here last. This review is for yesterday, Feb 7, 2025. I don't know if it's a new ownership or management, but they have seriously improved the place. The lady up front was super nice and friendly. I'll compare my visit of yesterday with the last time I was here, pre-Covid. The last time I was here, again pre-covid, the main locker room had a terrible, musky smell to it. That horrible smell was gone. It didn't smell like anything. In the wet area, I'd say 1/4 of the ceiling tiles and the walls were covered in either black mold or mildew. Now there's none of that. Anywhere. The steam room was so hot that people would use the hose to spray down the steam room to try and cool it down. It now puts out a lot of steam and very tolerable heat. The dry sauna used to be insanely hot, too. Now it's hot, but not so hot that you'll have a stroke in it. The floor in the darkened hot floor room used to be blisteringly hot. Now it's just hot, and they've put large mats on the floor in there, too. The three pools used to be murky. Yesterday, they were quite clean. The cold pool was freezing! The middle pool was hot, yet tolerable; just like it's supposed to be. The hot hot tub was too hot for me, though. I didn't get a scrub, but the scrub table is now completely partitioned off from the main wet area. I'd say that the new owners have done a great job at cleaning up what was once a filthy KSpa. There is an employee who cleans a lot, he's really nice, and welcomes you when you enter the locker room, and thanks you for coming by when you leave. I even left him $5.00 when I left, and I hope the lady gave it to him. read more

My friend recommended this place and it was great. I did the body scrub + Massage. They showed me around since it was my first time. Salt room, sauna, and steam room. Three pools cold, warm, and Hot. They had showers for you to use before the appointment. I would come 20- 30min early to use the facilities before your service. You're also able to use it after if you want, whatever personal preference you have. Also just know you have to be fully bare, and it's separated male and female. I've been going to Joy Sauna (Men's side) regularly for about ten years. I was a little concerned when ownership changed a year or two ago but the new owners/management are really great, as is the new scrub guy. I try to get a body scrub every few weeks and feel like a new man afterward. Under new management the spa is actually better maintained/cleaner than before--they are always dry mopping the floor in the lounge area and checking the water in the wet area. They've added little amenities like mats in the sleeping room. There's a three hour limit with basic entry (more than reasonable time) which is waived with purchase of other services like massage/scrub. I used to work nearby but no longer, so now it's quite a drive for me but worth it, a great way to spend a couple of hours and feel refreshed. BTW, it's a traditional Korean-style spa with a dress code of "no dress" other than a towel in the spa area so you can't be body shy. read more

Given the recent reviews, you'd swear this was a very spicy bathhouse. I mean, not diminishing what they're saying. I'm sure there are times when things could get a little ridiculous in here. However I visited on a Monday morning and I can report back that no funny business was happening at all. Plenty of wandering eyes lol, but whatever. I mean, you're butt ass naked when in here, not really shocked that people will look at you. That said, it's a much smaller place than say, iSpa in Irvine. They don't have any of the fancy sitting rooms that iSpa has. What they do have is the hot and hotter tub, as well as a steam and dry sauna. They also have a salt room. When I visited I partook in a body scrub, for $60 (also included admission). With tip, I ended up spending $70 in total. That alone was worth it to me -- the same cost me $110 over at iSpa. As noted, the scrub area is right in the middle of everything, so if you're the modest type -- which I'm not sure why you'd be in a Korean spa if you were -- it might be awkward. Thankfully, I'm not. I got all that dead skin wonderfully sloughed off and I'm sure anyone interested took in the lovely sights and sounds of me getting exfoliated head to toe and everywhere in between haha. I wouldn't say the place struck me as dirty at all -- it was indeed quite clean. The entrance to the place though, as others noted, is a shared hallway which was empty in the daytime although I imagine it wouldn't be strange to see the unhoused milling about. I enjoyed it! Everything needs to be improved. From cleanliness to amenities- no body wash in the shower/bathing areas - huge disappointment in overall quality. My husband and I were looking forward to relaxing, but we left more stressed after only 30 minutes. My husband had a huge complaint, but the lady in front said there wasn't anything she could do. First time back to Joy Sauna after Pandemic. The experience is still relaxing and rejuvenating. Apparently they refreshed the interior and kept it very clean and neat. The vibe is quiet and calm. Staffs are friendly. In spa area Water is clear in the hot tubs and tile wall is shining. In the steam room and sauna room they refresh the interior and having refreshing aroma in the air. Super relaxing. Joy has been in the business for so long and their staffs provide humble hospitality and skillful service. I really enjoyed the Korean style body scrub as usual today. Rena is a professional staff with body scrub techniques that make you feel comfortable. I definitely will come back for more massage treatments. The locker area had a terrible odor in it that my friend and noticed immediately. My friend stayed longer but I left and waited in the car be cause the smell was getting to me. My husband and I went to this spa yesterday and our experiences were polar opposite - my rating: 5 stars and his is 1, thus our average is 3 stars. Women's side - The facility is moderately sized and very clean. There were less than a handful of patrons on a Sunday afternoon. I received a very throughout and pleasant 90 min body scrub + massage service which cost a fraction of what other K spa in LA would charge. My entrance fee was waived and everything cost $90 before tax and tip. There is no time limit on the women's side. Men's side - The entrance fee was $25 and there is a 2 hour limit. Based on what my husband said, the floor plan seemed to be a mirror of the women's side... so 3 pools (cold/hot/scalding hot) + wet steam room + dry sauna room + salt room + locker area. However, there were 20 - 30 patrons so it felt very crowded. According to my husband, more than half of the patrons were leering at others - making him extremely uncomfortable. When he went into the (very dark) dry sauna room, he immediately regretted that decision because he witness explicit acts that probably scared him for life. He then escaped the area asap and just waited for me in the car. In summary, for ladies in this area looking for a great deal on the K spa experience then this is a very good option. For men who do not wish to witness other men pleasuring themselves, do not come here. read more

You'd think that during the pandemic shutdowns, that the owners would get to renovating this place, but nope... I went because I heard it was open and I was in desperate need of a body scrub - you generate a lot of dead skin cells you know! A good scrub down will take that all off and leave you feeling fresh and smooth/clean! While that DID happen here, I couldn't feel clean with the amount of "behaviour" that occurs here. No renovations were made, things are gross, wear sandals or water shoes if you don't want to trek anything home that might grow or infect. 2 hour limit with the admission, you'll be charged an additional full price rate. 100% avoid, the area has other korean spas with better amenities and cleanliness levels for similar rates. read more

Update: I must say I have seen some multiple improvements to this establishment. Service has been an improvement with nicer welcoming service than previously. They have increased the time per single visit by an hour which is better. They have added a new barrier for a little more privacy when getting a body scrub. However, they can improve on their towels given or just get rid of the towels with holes. Soap dispensers need to be monitored/refilled on a regular basis. Shower heads need to be updated. Many K town spa lost the true Korean authenticity of spa..I believe due to the noises from uneducated spa goers. And some newerly renovated Korean spa, which was run by non-korean owners( I don't mean anything racial but those who are not somehow dont have any expertise), boast high price with fancy accommodations yet barely satisfying results... Yes Hacienda Heights is not really close to me , actually awaaay from my place, but I just say it is worth the trip. And yes, the establishment is rather old not the fanciest, but this is what you call the diamond in the rough, hidden gem. I had regular body scrub and I also tried facial this time. Ms. Young is a true master. Totally satisfying experience. Her work is spotless! She looks so petite yet once she started working on my body..non stop and you really felt like you lost more than 5 lbs! ( Only the people who experienced the scrub can tell what I mean). And Ms. Karen did my facial. This was a truly magical feeling..her service was a top notch and she is so dedicated to her work. I felt I got much more than I paid for. I like this place, good scrub bath, massage, hair treatment if you buy the 160 dollars package. I gave the lady 25 dollars tip she asked me for five dollars more. There is a language barrier therefore they move you around , lift your leg up, turn you sideways, open your legs etc. but they are not careful they are rough so if you have joints problems or any joints replacements be very careful. read more
