After the online search and a couple of emails with Hans, we knew this was the way we wanted to go. Hans, helped us with everything. He sent us list of vendors, helped give us ideas for excursions on the island, gave us names of official marriage license representatives, and called us a week before to verify it all. Hans was great help and truly made our wedding day so stress free. The photographer, musician, and officiant, all used through Kaua'i Island weddings were AMAZING! Through her dance, Nikole transported us all to the beautiful and sacred world of Hawaiian tradition. She was accompanied by a included a singer/guitarist that provided live traditional music. This was a very special (and greatly appreciated) bonus. Later on, she invited everyone to follow along with her as she thought us several hula dances. It was an honor to have Nikole share the Aloha spirit with us and our guests.

We don't know how she did it but she made it look like we were the only people on the whole beach. The day we were married there were at least six other wedding parties on the beach. She caught the intimate moments as well as the fun ones. We weren't sure where our ceremony would be until the day before which she worked with. When my husband and I began planning our wedding we thought we could do everything ourselves. Afterall, my husband grew up on Kauai and I'd been there to visit several times. We'd both visited the venue we'd selected before. What was left to do? We wanted a really simple wedding. Why would we pay someone to plan things when we could do it ourselves? Well, I found out really quickly that trying to sort everything out and get things coordinated was more difficult than we'd anticipated. After attending a friend's wedding, and after talking to the bride the next day about the stresses of getting everything done, my husband was really convinced we should hire someone to help us out. I'd seen Marlene's site and was really impressed. I just had a good feeling about it, compared to the other stuff I'd seen out there. And? She was from Waimea, my husband's home town. I gave Marlene a call and from the very beginning I knew we'd done the right thing. When we contacted Marlene we already had our venue, photographer and our officiant but we didn't have anything fully sorted out. We were having a wedding with over 100 guests in attendance.. not your typical "destination wedding." To make things worse, our venue owner was on "Hawaii time." a lot, which made planning difficult. Marlene was very professional and knew just what needed to be done. She was always very responsive to us and always had great, cost-effective suggestions. It was so nice to have her "on the ground" in Kauai. She helped us plan everything ahead of time, coordinated the rentals, suggested a ceremony/cocktail hour musician and the hair/makeup stylist, and helped us figure out our custom food and drink menus (all local cuisine and beers). Marlene worked tirelessly at setting up a very detailed budget and event plan for us beforehand so we knew exactly what was going to happen in the days leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day, minute-by-minute and exactly how much it was going to cost. All of her recommendations turned out to be spot on. And, Marlene and her staff were at the venue all day on the wedding day working with all of our vendors and setting things up. All we had to do was show up and have a great time! We could not have pulled off this wedding without Marlene and we cannot recommend her enough!

She was incredibly organized, responsive, and proactive from day one. Within hours of our first conversation, she was checking vendor availability and getting the ball rolling. She answered every question quickly, gave honest and thoughtful advice, and truly helped us stay grounded in our vision and budget. My biggest complaint: My husband didn't get his promenade. Our special ring bearer, his father, the groom and the groomsman didn't get their moment/ promenade either. NOTHING was as we rehearsed it the evening before during the rehearsal . What was the point? The men did NOT get any structure, guidelines or assistance on the day of the wedding. What's the reason for paying a second person at the ceremony site if that person doesn't assist and direct half the wedding party?! The groom wandered up to the front after waiting for some direction.... But nothing. He was so disappointed. She is not flexible or accommodating: She also insists on communicating via email- she barely calls or texts. Despite me telling her I don't operate that way. She doesn't care. She does whatever is easiest for her. I felt like she only wanted to make her job as easy as possible. Be prepared brides and grooms to fill out endless spreadsheets. She bragged about her timeline, it was suppose to be a slick and smooth operation. I felt like I needed her to keep things running smoothly, I was wrong. If you want to do a lot of work by yourself and pay her way too much to be rude to your vendors, (the videographers and photographers whom I flew in from Texas, both complained about her giving the wrong time tables multiple times and being difficult) and have her mess up your wedding day, be my guest. I refuse contact. Don't reach out to me. This bridge is burned.

We scheduled regular calls as it got closer to our wedding date to ensure that all the details were meticulously planned and executed as discussed. She went above and beyond by letting us ship wedding supplies to her home as the wedding date approached so that we did not have to pack everything into our luggage. She is also knowledgeable and well-connected to vendors within Kauai and she recommended a handful of vendors who matched our vision, communication style, and general vibe of our wedding. We selected our florist, photographer, officiant/live musician, DJ/Emcee, hair/makeup artist based on her positive experience working with them. She worked with us and the vendors to schedule meet and greets, food/beverage tasting to curate the menu at 1Hotel, and trials with our hair/make up artist, and photographer to ensure that our wedding day went smoothly. Lisa was calm and supportive on the day of our wedding and took charge of the vendors so we could truly be present with our guests. She helped us pivot when the wind picked up before the ceremony to ensure that our decor did not fly away. She also helped us stay in time with the music during the processional and helped me down the grassy hill to the aisle when my veil got stuck. Overall, we had a fantastic time at our wedding and we still dream about how beautiful and fun the whole day was. All our friends had a wonderful time and one of the couples even returned to 1Hotel for their babymoon a few months later! Lisa worked with us about 4 months out from our ~20 person wedding at the 1 Hotel and was an absolute dream to work with. Being based in NYC and never having visited Kauai until our wedding week, Lisa was our sounding board for choosing vendors (officiant, florals, music, make-up, video, photo, steam/pressing), was conscious of the time zones and never made us feel rushed, and kept us on track without being overbearing about decisions that we needed to make up until the very end. She really brought our vision to life, always filling in gaps as needed (candles, placecards, baskets for our flower people), and finding a new videographer when our initial choice fell through. Everyone that came to our wedding wants to go back to Kauai and the 1 Hotel to relive the day. We can't recommend Lisa enough! Thank you, Lisa, for everything.
