This was my second visit to MahoganyBooks at National Harbor, and it reminded me why I enjoy…read moresupporting this bookstore so much. I initially stopped by to pick up the latest release from one of my favorite authors, but somehow left with two books instead. (Book lovers will understand!) I was warmly greeted when I arrived, and the welcoming atmosphere immediately made me want to linger and browse. What I appreciate most about MahoganyBooks is that it does much more than sell books. The bookstore is intentional about creating space for authors of color to be seen, celebrated, and supported. From book signings and author events to community activities and wellness-focused gatherings, it's clear that they're building community through literature and culture. After browsing the shelves, I visited the small café inside the bookstore for a smoothie before taking my new books down to the waterfront. Finding a bench by the water and reading a few pages while enjoying the beautiful views of National Harbor was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Between the thoughtfully curated book selection, welcoming atmosphere, café, and beautiful waterfront location, the experience feels like much more than a trip to a bookstore.

I love independent bookstores, and a Black-owned business is the icing on the cake…read more I stopped in to check out the store and bought a sticker and a coffee drink. If you're a member of a sorority or fraternity, they sell merchandise here and had a good selection of all organizations. The staff were nice and I browsed a bit. MahoganyBooks has a huge selection of books for all ages. Everything is from a Black author or related to Black culture. The prices are in line with other bookstores, and you can be proud to support their local and diverse mission when you shop here. As a whole, National Harbor felt planned, corporate, and cold, but MahoganyBooks is the exception to this. If you're in National Harbor for a conference or convention, this is a must-stop and must support business.

They have several events held inside the bookstore and unique merchandise from local artists. The service at the bookstore was nice & friendly. I like the selections & descriptions of books throughout the bookstore. I was told the bookstore use to be a private residential home. My favorite part of the bookstore was the unique & funny merchandise like the stickers. They were around helping out many other customers and directing them to areas to purchase certain books. I love how the children's area is separate from the other area of the book store. The store is perfect! I plan to return when I am in the area.

The ambience is amazing and among the best of any bookstore I've been to. They have several comfortable chairs and couch spaces to sit and read. I brought my coffee and read the synopses of a few books while I was deciding which ones to buy. The books are very well sorted categorically and also alphabetically. They have a great selection of books in several genres - all for unbelievably great prices! I ended up buying two thriller books and will return to buy board games and more books sometime. The employees are super friendly and are very well versed with the inventory if you need help finding books.

I love their frisbees and postcards displayed in the bookstore and the clever ways they displayed their books throughout the store. My favorite area was the stairway and second floor of the bookstore. I liked their couch and chair area upstairs and sitting arrangements for readers to read a book during their stay there. The place was very crowded on Saturday. I bought a used book, a frisbee with their logo, and some of their postcards there. When I got home, we had a little fun throwing the frisbee indoors.
