He is a loser, a flake, and can't be trusted if you need to have a reliable transportation waiting for you. With all that walking, my feet were beat so I decided to take a taxi to the airport rather than risk injury. I had my hotel call a taxi service and Marhysa appeared at the front. The wait was 15 minutes which is understandable given the locale. The distance from the hotel to the airport was about 2 miles, so a price tag of $13 seems a bit high to me. If you are a traveler visiting Hilo only, there are really few transportation options. You can walk like I did. It just seemed to be tiring to do so. There is a free public bus system here, but you need to watch the timetable and know where you are going. There are few bus stops as well. I would use a taxi as a last resort. Renting a car is a bit pricey too, but you can drive to see the volcanoes at least and around the Big Island to see the smaller towns.

We originally planned only breakfast and to improvise. When we discovered she did tours, we treated her to brunch, then headed out to see the sights. We started with Rainbow Falls and Volcano Park; at both places, she dropped us off while we walked around. She told us where and when she would pick us up. At Big Island Candies, she went in with us and made the experience much more fun. Everyone there loves her. She even dropped us by Walmart so I could get a few essentials. Our last stop was Richardson Ocean Park, a black sand beach, to try to see turtles. It wasn't low tide, so they didn't come ashore, but we were able to see a couple swimming and even caught a glimpse of a mongoose. It was our most relaxing, enjoyable, and productive day of our cruise. And can you say affordable compared to other private options for our situation?! Love, love, love!
