Augustine did an impressive job installing a bimmertech MMI Prime Apple Carplay unit for my BMW 535i. He did an amazing job that was even better than what the instructions provided and he had everything done in about two hours, which worked out really well. He even drilled the hole in the center console to run the cable which isn't in the instructions, but is absolutely better and should be part of the standard installation. He also ran the USB input on the side rather than in the front and has it in the mesh holder on the passenger side, which is also better than what the instructions have. I came to him to get some strobes installed on my car , I had gone to about 4-5 different places all quoting me really high prices for installation, but Agustin gave a fair price so I decided to trust him with this project. I gave him an idea of how I wanted it to be installed and setup, and he did an exceptional job at installing and routing everything properly and even took extra steps to ensure everything is sitting and working as it should be. No I am not a bot, and this is my first review because I made a yelp account to solicit quotes from car shops in the area. TL;DR - Regardless of if you know a lot or a little about cars, just come here and get your work done. Details below for those that care. I was looking for someone to help me drop some upgrades into the 2013 SUV I just bought. I spent some $$$, so I wanted to do my due diligence and find someone who actually cares about their craft. I picked three shops with 200+ reviews averaging at least 4.5 stars, then I saw JR Car Audio with 12 reviews and a perfect 5-star rating. I reached out to all four shops asking for a quote. I gave them the details: new head unit install and front and rear dash cams. Then I asked for an itemized labor quote. Most importantly, I asked them to tell me if the stuff I bought would actually work for my car. Two of the shops treated me like just any other customer, just saying generic units are hit or miss and quoting labor. One shop, I was leaning toward working with since they had a high rating with so many reviews, but basically refused to check my gear for compatibility. They insisted on install-only, no exceptions, and encouraged me to 'shop around if i didn't feel comfortable'. Then there was Agustin. He asked me to come in person so he could figure out exactly what I wanted. He gave me probably 45 minutes just to consult. The first visit, I didn't have the head unit with me, so we clarified my plan and he gave me a quote that beat all the others. No upselling, and straight shooting about the potential issues like maybe some SWC would not work fully. Next day, I brought the head unit. He paused his work to check it, explained it wouldn't work as-is, and showed me the trim kit and wiring harness I needed (I bought the wrong stuff on Amazon, but that was part of the plan. If i didn't need it, I'd return it to save some money). Turns out he had everything he showed me that I needed in stock, and only charged me a bit over half of what I would've paid buying it all myself. So after talking, he gave me the all-in quote and his word that he will do his best. Then he added an out for me too saying he'd restore everything and only charge a quarter for the time spent if it ended up not working. Yeah, 12 reviews isn't a lot, but they're legit. You best believe I read each of carefully. People talk about how down to earth he is ("affordable"), how invested he is in his work, how he fixes stuff others didn't do right. I'll add to this list and say that he only accepts work that he knows he can take pride in. I got my work done 2/14. Done in 3 hours instead of the 4 hours minimum everywhere else quoted. And get this: he hooked my reverse cam up to the new head unit too. I seriously just asked as a Hail Mary, and he said he'd look into it and see if it was possible. I'm pretty sure many places would've charged extra for that. Huge win. This is my first and probably only ever Yelp review, and it's for Agustin. Dude's got integrity, works hard, delivers on time, and clearly takes pride in his work. I was a customer of Audio Waves for several years. Never had any issues with the work that the owner did with audio and security on the vehicles I gave him. The owner of Audio Waves retired and sold the business almost a year ago. I was driving by recently and noticed JR Car Audio had moved in. I stopped and met Agustin. I found out he had purchased the rest of Audio Waves inventory etc. and moved into the location. I was starting to have a minor issue with a Viper DS4 alarm that was installed by Audio Waves on my 2022 Subaru Ascent last year right when the owner retired. Agustin offered to troubleshoot the issue for a nominal fee. That was fair. Agustin also started to share with me info on the Compustar line of Alarms. I had heard of them. Agustin went through the Compustar offering based on things I was looking for in an alarm. He told me to do some more research to confirm what he had shared with me. I came back on another day to have Agustin troubleshoot my Viper DS4 alarm issue. We found a slight issue that my viper was not always arming. I was using the Subaru factory key fob. Unfortunately, at that time, Viper Technical Service, was not responsive. Agustin was on the phone with them and he was just on hold for a long time. A short time later, I did decide to go with the Compustar system he suggested. This was to replace the Viper DS4 in my car. Just to do a doublecheck. I did get a quote from another Car/Alarm Audio shop for the install of the same system. Agustin's rate was more reasonable. Plus Agustin walked me through how he would install the system. He recommended an upgraded harness to make the install cleaner and more plug and play versus hard wiring. Agustin took several hours to complete the install. Apparently Audio waves did a hard wire of my VIper DS4. Agustin took the time to ensure all the original factory wiring was back to the way it was with soldering so that he can properly install the T-harness and the alarm correction. When I came to pick up the car, I had forgotten to address the indicator light location. Agustin quickly corrected and installed the indicator light in a location I wanted to make it more visible. Everything seemed to work so I took it home. About a week later, I started get false alarms on the Compustar stating that my hood was open. It was happening all of the time to the point where I did not arm the alarm. The one good thing about the Compustar is that the app tracks all of the activity so I can show all the times the false alarm occurred. I could not take the car back to Agustin right away. He was very responsive on text when I reported this to him. Finally, I made an appointment to get it back to Agustin. Within 10 minutes he was on the phone with Compustar troubleshooting the issue. It was an issue with a setting. Compustar seemed to know quickly what was the issue. Agustin quickly made the adjustment and the alarm is fine. He was apologetic. I like Agustin's honesty. He has been good with walking me through solutions. I also have a 1987 Volkswagen Cabriolet. I wanted some different solutions to improve the sound system. Agustin was very straight forward on what he can do and what he can't do. But also made some good suggestions but also cautioned me on cost and whether these solutions may or may not be worth it. I will be taking another car in our household to Agustin to install another Compustar system. I can see the quality of his work, the pride he takes into his work, and his honesty as well. read more

So I bought a 2007 Toyota Sequoia SR5 that I've been using for hauling items from Lowe's or Home depot, picking up friends and families to and from the airport, basically for anything more than 5 people. Agustin of JR Car Audio is Honest and professional, previously I've been having a lot of issues on my car audio system that sounds crappy and almost burn my electrical wirings that installed by Auto Sound because of bad wiring installation and wrong/cheap amplifier that being installed " I felt cheated and ripped off by Tony of Auto Sounds" But when I consulted Agustin of JR Car Audio he immediately saw the big issue and potential hazard that can cause fire, And even tho its Sunday he offered to redo all the wirings with bigger gauge install the correct new amplifier, and tuned my settings to the right spec, and few hours later he called me and said the my car is ready sure enough, I was amazed and happy by the sound quality no more distortion and I can hear the details of the instrument coming from all four speakers he even replaced my bass controller for free of charge, All neat and clean no more messy wiring I really appreciate his high quality work and sacrificing his Sunday just to accommodate me, If you're looking for a professional quality and affordable service I would highly recommend JR Car Audio and you will definitely satisfied and happy. After taking my car to a reputable shop here in San Jose and paying top dollar and I mean top dollar for a full system of top brands...I had one of the speakers stop working thinking it was going to be a quick fix so now knowing of Agustin from friends I decided to give him a call, he immediately said bring it over to take a look upon taking off the door side panel he discovered that the speaker was in good condition and still worked, what was wrong was that the Shop I took it to used cheap used wire that had been corroded and pieced together, he didn't just tell me about it he showed me, so I told him to just look over the whole thing and fix all the shops mistakes they used 4 gauge wire and a small distribution block for a 1000 rms amp and a 4 channel man I was so bummed out that I had trusted a shop to do the work and for them to rip me off like that, Agustin took great care of my car took his time and took the time to show me what they did wrong after being ripped off that is what I needed to be at peace him being straight forward and to the point.
