In my Family's three cars over the years, they have diagnosed and repaired a myriad of problems and been very honest about what repairs are truly essential for safety and reliability and what repairs can be delayed. We have a 2016 Ford F150, an old 2005 Volkswagen Passat manual, and a 2009 Toyota Sienna. They keep us running great. They are often pretty backed up and so it takes a couple of weeks to get service but a couple of times when we had emergencies they took care of us right away. I try never to ask for rushed service but once or twice that I have needed it they have come through for me and him working extra hours to keep me on the road. Things started off smoothly. Baltimore Body Shop and Service was willing to fix damage to my bumper…read morefrom a minor fender bender. They told me it would take 5 business days. On the fifth business day, I called in the morning to see when my car would be ready for pickup. They told me it would be ready after 12PM. Then, I received an email about the fog light plug at 2PM that day (email attached for review). I thought it was odd since my car had been at their shop for 5 business days and a weekend and this was not noted previously. I refused to get it repaired, and I wanted my car back for the evening. I had to drive to DC that night. After I received my car, I realized that my bright lights did not work and my left turn signal was rapidly clicking. This made me think that something was not right with the car after I picked it up. I scheduled an appointment that evening on the day I got my car back with a different mechanic used by family and friends around the DC area for the following day. It turns out that wires on the driver's side were not reconnected after re-attaching the bumper and harness back on the car. The fog light plug was fine, but the wire to it was cut and needed to respliced for it to be connected again. There were missing bumper clips (see additional bumper clips in the list of materials) that had to be added to the bumper to secure it into place, so my bumper was not even secured to the car after the work had been done to it at the Baltimore Body Shop and Service. There was even a missing bulb from the front of my car! I attached the report from the second mechanic who had to re-plug the wires, reconnect the cut wires, replace bulb, and add the bumper clips to secure the bumper back into place. I had to pay more money to remedy the situation, since it was dangerous to operate my car (bumper could have fallen off; brights did not work; left turn signal was not working - fast clicking sound). If this task cannot be performed well, please do not offer to do it.

But you know how that goes. Finding a new mechanic is akin to looking for contractors. It's hard to find a reliable, trustworthy, do what you say you're gonna do type of shop. So, on a friend's reference, I gave Autobahn a shot. First off, have you met Frank? He's at the helm when you walk in and is once of the friendliest people you'll meet. I'm pretty sure he is the man I dealt with over the phone to make an appointment. What's even more impressive is he called to confirm the appointment. Aside from the big box dealer mechanics, who does that? Pretty cool. I bring my car in and we talk about my issue. Now mind you, it's a small shop so don't expect to sip on coffee and watch Day of Our Lives while you're waiting for your car. You'll have to drop it off and come back. There's literally no room to 'lounge'. Frank tells me they'll call me by the end of day. Within hours I receive a call detailing information about a recall, how I should proceed, similar cases they've had in the past with my Mercedes GLK-350, and so on. Now mind you, I already knew what the issues were. My old mechanic had told me and I was planning a date/time to drop it off for repairs. But I didn't know all of these other details, which gave me OPTIONS! We all love options. At that point, they had me. Just knowing they were trying to SAVE me money versus finding ways to have me spend more was clutch! My car was ready for pick-up the following morning. When I came to pick it up Frank gave me more information and I was on my way. I've gotta say, it also made me feel better that they have a secure lot behind the shop to keep cars overnight. I like that. So, for now, I think I've found my new mechanic. I'm glad as I was tired of making that hour-long trek to my old shop. Not that I can't go back, but like I said.......... it's nice to have options.

I paid for two replacement tires and the sales associate, Dan, said that they would likely arrive…read moreby noon the next day but that he would nonetheless call me when they did in fact arrive. Come noon the next day I had not received a phone call from A1-Auto informing me that the tires had arrived. I called the shop several times but no one picked up. I went down to the shop and arrived at 12:30 P.M. Dan stated to me in a very rude fashion: "I told you to be here at 12." I informed him that he did not tell me to be there at 12, but instead that he stated to me that he would call me when the tires arrived and that I should then come to the shop after I received his call. Dan then informed me that the closest appointment for rescheduling was 3 days away which was too long for me to wait. I then asked for a refund which I eventually received but still had to pay a $60 tire restocking fee which I shouldn't have had to pay because it was Dan's fault for not calling me to inform me that the tires had come in, which is what he said he would do when I initially paid for the tires. This place is a ripoff & they steal their customers' money. I instead took my business to Midas of Catonsville and received prompt, courteous & competent service.
