I'll put it this way. I Initially went to them for what I thought was a transmission problem. They checked my vehicle and told me it had bunch of other codes that was not transmission related. It made perfect sense they set me to a local area Automotive shop that I choose not to name, though I reeealy want to. So, I then went to this Automotive shop, a couple of times now over the course of 1 year or so, to get my Vehicle up to standard. Transmission put in by GBT..I grew up hearing about how good there work was...Saturday I smelled something burning my truck was driving fine no lights on the dash going off. I find fluid running from my transmission..within 30 minutes of being called this morning I was told I needed a new transmission. In what universe does the same vehicle need a 3rd in its lifetime not to mention transmission less than 30 thousand miles later. Not to mention I brought it to them last year when I hit a pot hole. It shoved the Trans line into the radiator. If there was a problem with the Trans wouldn't the car throw some codes? I am having them repair the leak 1400 and not the Trans like they recommended. This experience was pretty terrible. At first we were excited because they were extremely friendly on the phone and offered a reasonable rate to replace the transmission. Once we confirmed to have them do the work, they said they would pick up our truck and tow it to their shop. The guy on the phone told us they ordered the transmission and they would be at our house around 8 to get it. At 9 my husband called and they said they were on the way. At 11 he called again and they seemed confused and said the guy we needed to talk to wasn't there, but he would call back. 30 minutes later, he calls and says we're not in the system, a transmission hasn't been ordered, and they would never give us an exact pick-up time. I can assure you we were talking to the same company because it's the same number in the call log. Anyway, a days work is wasted and my truck is still is out of commission, and now we're looking for another quote. read more

I can't even say how impressed I was with the honesty and integrity shown by Dexter at GBT. Haven't decided yet whether to replace the transmission in our Ford Flex, and here's why: he told me it's not going to suddenly break down and strand anyone by the side of the road. He explained, very thoroughly and carefully, what exactly is going on, such that I truly understand how something can fail gradually. $3800 for a replacement transmission, with a 3 year or 100k mile warranty, seems to be a very fair price. Replaced transmission on a cherry 20 year old Jeep Wrangler. One year later I took it back for warranty work. A week later when I finally called to get a status update (no communication) I found out they decided to replace the transmission under warranty. 10 days after that I called back again to find out it had been completed for a few days. When I picked it up there are several scratches all on BRAND NEW FENDER FLARES. This place is garbage. They aren't mechanics or pros the are just part swappers. I would not recommend this shop at all and please be aware of their ads that indicate 2-3 year warranty on transmissions. After paying over $7,000 dollars for repairs, was presented with a 1-year warranty. Military and retirees please don't expect a discount for your service....when asked they took off $50. I just had repairs so I can't honestly comment on the actual repairs, I constantly asked the timeframe for the repairs and it took almost a month. Shortly after I got a return email from a guy Mark with a price I called and made an appointment to drop it off, when I dropped it off I met with Mark he said it would take a few day this was on Friday he said call Tuesday I called and he told me to pick it up on wed. Couldn't be happier. They offered to pick up my car on a flatbed, take it to their shop and inspect it, then return it to my house for $75, or at no charge if they were doing work. They did the work, maintained good contact, and delivered it to my door, and financed the repairs. They gave me details about specific parts and labor, and instructions for when to bring it in for free inspections. Customer service score - 0!!!!! Called to have vehicle towed and was quoted online as $2700. Was told if I didn't get vehicle repairs done there, towing would be $100. Call received same day saying ready to start repairs. When I told them I couldn't get repairs right then, I was transferred to Amy who gave me an attitude about having to cancel everything out and then transferred me to Rebecca the cashier and I paid tow fees. When I went to pick up the vehicle, I asked for the key and estimate and she said we don't have it because they cancelled it all out and proceeded to hand me an estimate on a business card. Sadly, it wasn't until I asked for her name that she decided to hastily write up a legitimate and "professional" estimate and receipt for me. While we would have considered having the repairs done here in a few months, the lack of respect, courtesy, and professionalism made me quickly reconsider. We had our suv towed into Glen burnie transmission from AAA of Annapolis. We went to AAA because initially we went to Firestone in Odenton to get an oil change. We left our suv there. Firestone called us back and said they were unable to move the suv. We could not understand why? We drove it in. We then had it towed to AAA since they were last to work on our suv. After our SUV sat at AAA for three days, they told us we needed a new transmission,$5,500. Smh. We then called GLEN BURNIE TRANSMISSION. They were amazing! They went to AAA and towed our suv to them and gave us an amazing quote for a new transmission with great warranty and it was almost half the price of AAA. After they towed the suv to their shop, we went out for lunch. By the time we finished lunch, GLEN BURNIE CALLED US and said that their is NOTHING wrong with your vehicle. Who ever tried to move the vehicle intially, knocked the additional gear out. So after all of that, nothing was wrong. We truly appreciate GLEN BURNIE TRANSMISSION, they were honest with us. I dropped my car off on Tuesday evening and they did not call me until Thursday regarding the issues. I followed up in between but was advised that they are still looking at the issues. I just knew for having the car that many days, when they call the bill will be high as ever. To my surprise the bill was $110.00. I said thank you. The point is, they did a through job of checking over the car and didn't try to find a way to charge me for more than what was necessary. This shop does bait and switch, they sent my partner the "final price" when I arrived ti get the car they added 250 more to the bill and claimed it was mandated by warranty company, I called warranty company in thier presence and they did that wS a lie, it then became a storage charge. Buy car was only on thier lot for 45 min after completing repair, then it was oops we didn't add up hours right, TERRY lied to my face 3 times and tried to hold the car hostage for the money, they then intentionally double charged the card but my card caught it and notified us of the fraud. Had my 2014 ram pro master 3500 transmission go out back in 2018 took it to Glen Burnie had them replace the transmission worked out great no problems had it serviced when scheduled, then had some transmission issues in 2022 where it would not shift correctly took it back and they repaired it under the Warranty didn't fuss like most places do sometimes with warranty work, also during the repair one of drive axles boots got damage they quickly replace the damage axle no questions, thanks great service all the way around I've been going here for many years different vehicle's my last service advisor was JR great guy knows his craft. This is probably the BEST auto repair place I have ever been to! First of, all they do is transmission work, in fact they do ALL transmissions (manual and automatic). Nothing else. By nature of transmission work be prepared to spend ALOT of money due to the amount of work needed to take apart your transmission. A lot meaning $600+ for a job (labor +parts). They work with a towing service and will tow you to their shop and the tow service is free if you use them. Once they do an evaluation and provide you a quote, they will get your vehicle in the shop and then make arrangements for you to rent a car at a discounted rate at a local car rental place just down the road from Glen Burnie Transmissions. The rental place and GBT will cut you a great deal on the car rental so you can continue on with your life while your car is in the shop.I have been to GBT a couple of times and it was the most seamless car repair experience that I have ever had. Even if they need more time, they have called ahead of time and explained why they need more time and will either not charge you for the extra labor, or make arrangements with the car rental to not charge you for the extra hours/day. They make it a priority to make this as painless as possible. The managers of GBT really believe in educating their customers on transmission maintenance. Most of them teach at vocational schools are used to training punks from the street and turning them into competent technicians. They have shop floor example of a transmission in the wait area and will show you step by step what they will do to your vehicle. They WILL NOT steer you wrong or try to swindle more money from you. They will tell you the truth up front and if you don't understand or believe them, they will take the time to help you understand. Ladies, I highly recommend this place because they will not treat you any differently than a man with a broke vehicle. They will not intimidate you. I can't say enough good things about this place. I've been stressing over my transmission ever since a scam transmission shop in Arizona charged me $3k for a rebuild, but they didn't actually rebuild anything - they did a flush, which ruined an internal seal - so for 3 years I've lived with a slipping transmission, and not wanting to pay again for a tranny, since my car is 15 years old with 211k miles. The seal problem is bad in cold weather, so I was looking to make a new car purchase - and then finally decided that this car was just not done yet, and I just needed to pay $3k for a REAL transmission job and just get over the bad prior experience with the different shop. Ok just had to lay that out there, because I was looking at paying more for the transmission than the car was actually worth, had already been BURNED, and $3k is a lot of money, period. SO, thanks to Yelp, found this shop and trusted the ratings, made the call. From the start, Mark was very courteous, professional, and responsive to my email request for a quote. Just talking to him, I started to feel more comfortable about getting this done. (Side note - I called a local Acura dealer, and they were basically going to get the same tranny from GBT, but charge me about double. I'm so glad I continued shopping, and came across GBT!) They finished the work, and towed the car the 68 miles back to Alexandria, and dropped it in the drive. Very nice. I live 68 miles from the shop, so that was a definite plus! The only negative from the experience, but not worth taking a star for - I had locking wheel nuts, but one was missing when I got the car back, and they put all 'normal' lug nuts on the front, with no explanation. In talking to another person, it is possible that the lock broke when being removed, so that's not really their fault, but I would have appreciated knowing in advance that they were going to make this switch. I had just had another shop lose the key, and literally received the replacement in the mail the day before this tranny work, but now I'm missing a whole locking nut so maybe I just need to get over having those, and stop worrying about it. The professionalism, the work, the customer service all lived up to the prior ratings; so if you need a new (reman) transmission, you can trust these guys to fix you up, efficiently, properly, and within estimate. I know it is a few years since I went to Glen Burnie Transmissions, but I am still so upset at them, I had to write this review. Our transmission was not working and I was hoping that it was something minor. I took it to Glen Burnie Transmissions and it turned out that I needed $1500.00 worth of repairs. Oh well, after a few weeks and a lot of money we got the car back thinking our troubles were over. Two weeks later the transmission was out again. We took it back to Glen Burnie transmissions very angry for a $1500.00 repair lasting two weeks. They said it was a different part of the transmission this time and it would be another $2500.00 to repair it. By this time we had no choice but to fork over the money, Two weeks later we got the car back $4000.00 poorer. I took my 2010 Nissan Altima to them on May 24, 2019 at 7am, the mechanic did not come in until 7:30, when he finally came out to help me it was about 8:10am. He could not have drove it far because I had a call come in on my phone and the car bluetooth pick up so he had to still be in the area, when he came back 5 minutes later he gave me my keys and said it was the hub bearings and the gear stick need to be replace but if I didn't use it to shift gears I didn't need to worry about it. I found that hard to believe so I took it to Sheehy Nissan in Glen Burnie on May 28, 2019 only for them to tell me that I need a new transmission, I then called back to Glen Burnie Transmission on Ritchie Hwy Glen Burnie, and spoke with Mark, I explain my situation and he said that he drove it and only notice the noise in the wheel! that's odd when your a transmission mechanic how do you go from the transmission issue to the hub bearings, Mark was vey unprofessional and told me if I didn't like his diagonals to take it back to Nissan and pay top dollar for it and then he hung the phone up on me! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!
