James and his team were excellent. Some of the best trades team I've worked with - let alone, landscape company. He was able to come out to the house quickly, give me my quote quickly, and started work less than a week later. I was impressed by their work ethic as well. Everything in my sandy backyard was ripped out for prep and then leveled so I didn't have a wavy backyard. Sod came down the next day and they worked through the hot day until it was finished. They carefully watered the ground before laying down the sod and they transformed my backyard from a pile of dirt to a lush green oasis. I was thoroughly impressed at the quality and still look out over my backyard with a smile. They did a great job and you would be a fool not to hire them as your landscape company! Thanks James! In February of 2022, I started working with James' company, JRJ Landscaping, to do a full redesign of my front and back yards. Deposit was paid in mid-February, which was rather significant (thousands of dollars) as it's 50% down. I was told the front yard would get started in 4 to 6 weeks, which means as early as mid-March of 2022. After several calls and texts over the past 3+ months, I'm STILL WAITING on my front yard to be completed. Every time I ask for an update, excuses are given and completion dates are never provided. In early May I requested a refund of my deposit. James immediately replied and got his crew out there within days to do the demo / removal of old landscaping on a Tuesday. He told me everything would be installed by that Saturday. Two plus weeks later I am still waiting, but now my yard is in poor shape with everything torn out. I've been giving James the benefit of the doubt over the past 3 months until I recently read a review on Yelp from Dawn S. Please scroll down and read it - it is very similar to what I'm going through. If James and his crew turn this thing around and get my front lawn done, plus provide a refund of the deposit for the backyard, I will update this review accordingly. read more

James talks a pretty good show - I gave him a $2000 deposit - after several weeks of ghosting/no work and no contact (and his voice mail constantly being full) I requested a return of my deposit. Still no resolution - he has my money - I have a back yard that looks like crap. I went with him because of 50 google reviews - and he's a veteran. This is step 1 - next step is BBB and small claims court if I don't see results. read more

BUYER BEWARE! James is very attentive and well priced but does not stand behind his work or honor his warranty. He did a new construction whole yard landscaping project for us. Following the install he brought multiple prospective clients to our home to view his work and get more business. Within a year 25% of the plants he installed died. We contacted James and he promised to make good on the warranty. A year later he is still ducking us or texting randomly to let us know we're on the schedule then never shows. We spent over $ 14,090.00 with JRJ . Invoice date 04-01-2021. From the start of the job we had issues. The main issue at first was that we would go for long periods of time with no contact from James. I kept a very detailed account of the project. The job was never really completed. Three small items were never finished. I had many promises that they were coming back. All of that I could live with, but the grass ( from the very start ) had an issue. within 2-3 weeks we had brown spots. We were using the Lawn spray company that James said to use. Then later he had us move to another company. Both companies claimed different problems with the lawn. I was told twice that he would replace the lawn, or the bad areas.....but no one ever showed up to help. I finely said ( and sent a letter ) just give us the cost of the grass. ( 1870.00 ) This issue has been going on for over 6 months..... The large plants are very healthy, and look great, but our lawn is a mess. read more

Oct. 2021 ---BEWARE of THIS CONTRACTOR. He has tried to stop the posting of reviews, our right to post and identify issues with him. This contractor appears to prey on older women (necessitated use of an attorney) for both myself and my sister who hired him at the same time back in March / April of 2021. My sister, Denise, had to also get an attorney to get her money back which she just received in October of 2021 --- 7 months later (and he did nothing including no follow up phone calls to her while he took thousands of dollars from her). It appears he takes big money projects and make those people wait while he completes smaller jobs with money he obtained in deposits. See other reviews that were posted of JRJ Landscaping completing jobs within two to three weeks' time during my entire time of waiting in April, May, June, July, and August 2021. He over-promises the work and under-delivered. JRJ was hired the very end of March of 2021 and was given thousands of dollars in the beginning of April of 2021 (as evidenced by checks and bank statements). No actual landscaping work was started on my property until June of 2021 after many attempts to get the job started. Job included landscaping installation of plant lighting, drip lines, plants, rock and the artificial turf installation for the front yard. Even after finally starting in mid-June with some planting and rock laying, the workers didn't show on days that James stated they would. I had tried multiple times to work with James - JRJ, to get him to finish the artificial turf installation. There were only more misrepresentations of getting here, no-show dates. I next posted a negative Google review of JRJ Landscaping in June of 2021. Well, that review certainly got his attention. I also noted that similar issues happened to other consumers if you look at some of the older posts going back a year or two (taking deposit money from consumers, then no work for weeks or months, allegations by other consumers of his issues). After the post, James begged me to remove the post and he would finish the job within two weeks. I did take it down at the time of the conversation I had with JRJ. The remains of the project failed to even start the rest of June. Thus, I reposted the review. I had taken photos of my sand pit front yard which kept washing away with every rain that comes and this continued for weeks. Unfortunately, I had to hire an attorney to get a response and to meet a deadline to finalize the project. The Project completed with some flaws and I had already hired another landscaper as a consultant to inspect JRJ's turf installation. Corrections were needed by JRJ to finish the Project. The consulting landscaper watched for weeks as this scenario played out during the job completion. My project was finally completed on 08/09/21. Poor communication existed excepting at the start with when JRJ collects your deposit money. read more

I'm so happy with the work done by JRJ on my front yard! James came out in full force with 5 or 6 employees and these guys made quick work of removing about 20 trees, cutting back a serious amount of overgrowth and making the yard look clean and beautiful. We're now working on a landscaping plan to transform my overgrown jungle into a suburban paradise! I highly recommend this super friendly and professional company. read more
