This is the second time we've used El Cheapo - the first was after a hurricane a few years ago when they removed eight (8) trees from our property. Back then, they did an excellent job at a price that was more than fair and reasonable. So, when we decided to remove four (4) additional trees, Ed / El Cheapo was the first and ONLY tree service that I called. Ed came out the day after I called and gave me a quote that surprised me - I thought it would cost quite a bit more than he quoted (with any other company it would have !). That was less than a week ago - today, the crew and Ed showed up at 7:30 a.m. and started work without delay. It is now 9:30 a.m. and they are already winding up. Here's why I recommend El Cheapo so highly: * Fair and honest - Ed says and does what he means and won't let you down * Reasonable prices - unlike many others, Ed does not "gouge" or quote/charge high prices that are out-of-line * Quality work by a highly qualified crew ! Additionally, they left our backyard better shape than they found it - their clean up is complete and thorough. Attention to detail is their forte! Do not hesitate to hire this excellent comapny for your tree needs. This will be long! I hired Ed and his amazing team back in Nov to get ahead of tree trimming for hurricane season. I "HAD" a 52 year old live oak tree, 60 feet tall, in my back yard. A living legacy to my Mother that planted the tree in 1968 when she built our home. I never got so many compliments on my tree until Ed's team groomed it. My pride and joy of my back yard. The center point. My oasis! It shaded not only my yard but my house. Sadly while having work done on my seawall the contractors severed 3 stabilization roots of my TREE! It was like they cut a rubber band. The tree immediately shifted towards my home. I called Ed in a panic. He came and sadly told me the tree had to come down. I did get another arborist to access the damage. unfortunately they also confirmed the news I did not want to hear. I did this because I knew I would need one more opinion to present to the company that DESTROYED my tree. Ed's team showed up last week to remove my tree. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what you call a PROFESSIONAL tree service. Not the guys who ride around in a pickup truck with a chain saw banging on doors. El Cheapo has the best experienced tree crew of any I have witnessed doing work in my neighborhood for years by a long shot. The 5 man crew came in and dismantled a 30 foot tall Maple tree with a 3 foot diameter trunk in an hour and then had the stump ground down and a great clean-up of the area in another half hour. 90 minutes total for the job and if it weren't for the bald spot on my lawn where the trunk was, you would never know they were here. The price was right, and one of the crew did some additional work for me with the stump grinder free of charge knocking down some tall roots that were sticking out of the ground on another tree. The clean up included blowing my entrance sidewalk which was no where near the Maple they worked on. Some companies believe in customer service the old fashion way to stay ahead of the pack. Kudos to Ed for hiring a knowledgeable professional crew who really seemed to enjoy what they were doing, joking and laughing as they worked together. El Cheapo Tree service did a fantastic job on our tree removal project. They were extremely courteous, respectful of the property and worked together as an efficient team. The team arrived promptly and were all in from the word go. Within the first half an hour on site, trees started coming down. Trees were sectioned and carefully laid to the side so they could be further broken down. An amazing effort was made to declutter the area, leaving no debris behind. The team returned for a second day to grind the stumps. Care was taken to protect windows, as well as pool screening. When all was finished, once again, the team cleared the area of all leaf litter. They even blew off the front porch that is on the opposite side of the house. El Cheapo's Team lead, Ed, was sure to check in throughout the project, making sure that we were both informed and pleased with the work of his team. Last Saturday morning I saw El-Cheapo Tree Service trucks parked at a home in my neighborhood. I looked up the company and saw the excellent reviews and that they are Angie's list so I called the number listed on the truck not expecting a call back until Monday. Ed called me back in less than an hour and came out to my house that same day to look at the overgrown live oak in my back yard. Ed was very friendly and professional. He gave me an estimate on the spot which I thought was very reasonable. The crew came out yesterday to trim the tree and these guys were amazing. Fast and efficient, these guys worked like a well oiled machine!. They cleaned up as they went and were done in about an hour. They cut even cut down a couple of nuisance trees. I was so impressed at how organized they were. And the kids had fun watching from the window. VERY seldom take the time to write reviews. Called El Cheapo to trim two large oak trees in the front yard. Preferred a certified arborist such as El Cheapo. Always have been concerned about the stability of the trees in a hurricane. Ed Depaul did an initial assessment, and then returned several days later, with a crew of four, a large trailer of equipment, and a truck with a bucket that easily accessed the highest branches. Was impressed by his measured approach and passion for the job. He genuinely cares about the health, structure, stability and aesthetics of the trees. He wasn't just some cowboy with a chainsaw. He cut down a couple of large limbs that were overhanging the street and approaching powerlines, and otherwise performed significant pruning of the trees. His crew did a quick, efficient and thorough clean up job. They all work well together as a team. Definitely would contract with them again. read more

After securing three estimates, I elected Ed DePaul to properly trim my two Live Oaks. Some branches were close to the roof and extended over my pool Birdcage. After my initial phone call and Ed's timely appointment, that included a detailed presentation as to obtaining more light for my Solar roof panels that will offer higher pool heat for cold weather swimming and most important, better protection for my roof and Birdcage from future storms. I have lived in Kenneth City, Florida since 1996. I found El Cheapo on the internet when I needed some trees trimmed on my property. I was very pleased with Ed and his crew. They were very respectful and they completed all of my projects with excellent results. Today was my third request to clean up my backyard prior to an extensive renovation due to be done this fall. His crew came to my home and removed 2 Cedar Trees, trimmed 2 palm trees and removed a wild tree growing in the corner of my yard next to the shed. El Cheapo met with us a couple of weeks ago and recommended a course of action for removing a massive Sea Grape tree in our front yard that was diseased, along with a nearby palm tree that was also showing signs of disease. He also made valuable suggestions for what to do with and about the space that would be created by the removal of these trees. Additional work included trimming other palm trees. He gave us a written proposal for this work which we immediately accepted. This morning, El Cheapo arrived with a large crew and all kinds of equipment and did the work exactly as we had discussed. Soon it was five guys and lots of equipment, good stuff happening. Neat, efficient, working together, removed all debris and cleaned up and raked. I asked Ed to give me a quote for my oak hanging over the lanai. It came that day. I introduced him to my other neighbor, his 100 year old oak needed trimming. Quote the same day. Worth the wait, this is definitely a five-star company they come prepared to do the job very professional with safety in mind and the right equipment to do so.
