Mike was super prompt in returning my text at 11:00pm, assured me he had availability and we'd touch base in the morning. True to his word, we booked the car in the morning and he gave me a very competitive rate. Didn't tack on last minute fees. Done, texted confirmation number. Gave me name of my driver, Allison, who touched base 5 min later with her cell number. Super prompt, funny and friendly, riding with Allison was a pleasure. A key thing to note: take your cues from the client. She didn't start chatting until I did. I'm from New Orleans and work in the hospitality industry there, handling conventions with 10,000-30,000 in attendance. I book about 250 private car service for clients a year. There are a few key things that are expected from a private car service that are unbendable: reliability, communication, cleanliness and polite manners in drivers, who understand it's not about them it's about the client. Likewise from a client: tip the driver and tip in cash. If you get good service, show it by tipping more than 20% of the fare. We were on a cruise, and having not heard anything, about 4 days before our scheduled pickup on Sept. 19th, I emailed to ask about a confirmation since I had hear nothing. The reply was that they were unable to provide the requested service, which left me scrambling to find alternate transportation. I have no record of them (Matt) attempting to contact me prior to my inquiry to let me know that I did not have the requested ride, and it seems to me that they should provide reasonable advance notice.

I booked online on their website on June 29th, and received a confirmation email. My ride was going to be from Elizabeth, NJ to the Manhattan cruise port on September 4th, this upcoming Labor Day. I was advised in the NJRide confirmation email, that as it got closer to my travel date, they would assign a driver. On August 24th, I received an email that NJRide could not accommodate my request for a ride, because it was a holiday weekend, and they were fully booked. There was no notification that they were fully booked before this email. I knew it was a holiday, which is why I booked in June, over 2 months before I needed the ride. If everything was already fully booked on June 29, why wasn't I immediately notified of this fact. This Company notified me almost 2 months after my car reservation confirmation mail, and 1 1/2 weeks before my trip, that they would not be able to provide the service. This is very unfair. No apology or explanation at all. I get that things happen (no drivers, company turmoil, website issues, etc), but at the very least be courteous and professional enough to apologize or explain when you have clearly dropped the ball. I should have read past the positive reviews of NJRide to other reviews where other customers have had this same problem with this company. This company is not dependable.
