My kitchen faucet was installed incorrectly and had been slowly leaking into the cabinet at the base of the faucet. The wood under the counter had rotted so I couldn't tighten the faucet to keep it secure. Contacted Jeff and sent him some pics. Likewise when we sought an aesthetic solution involving an outdoor spigot, he advised an easy, do-it-yourself solution. Periodically he called us to examine some choice points in the work, and he proceeded as we decided. The work accomplished required carpentry, replacement of hinges, installing a push bar, and modifying a screen door enabling it to close all the way. He didn't want to do my job saying that because I'm on an above floor, there is too much liability for himself for potential water leaks. But this was for a garbage disposal replacement, not even anything having to do with the water supply line, which he would not even be touching at all. You don't even need to turn off the water supply valves to do this job. I've installed a few of these myself in various properties over the years and it is a super simple job. I just didn't want to do it myself this time due to a recent back injury. Of course he's welcomed to refuse any work he wants as that is his choice. It just seemed like a screwy reason because if he cannot or doesn't want to ensure a leak-free garbage disposal install, then it's clear he is not a competent handyman. Go figure. read more

The handyman Jr (Jeff) was busy through the end of the month (it's only the 5th now) but gave me advice over the phone. I bought an Alan's wrench and called him back twice. It worked! His response, "Unfortunately, I don't work for property management companies, sorry". You should clearly state your services on yelp or website before asking people to complete your work request form so that you can pick/choose what jobs you want to select. Jeff is great!! He came over and built some shelves for a spice rack for us, which involved using neat tools to cut out some old metal hardware that was in the way. He also made a cutout in one of our cabinets so we could move our fridge how we wanted it. He vacuumed all the dust and left everything nice and neat. Jeff is exactly the kind of handyman I've been looking for (for years). Imagine how happy I was to find him almost in my back yard! He is one of a dying breed of honest, fair, and personable people who shows up when he says he will and does exactly what he says he will do. We needed to have a bookcase unanchored from the wall and moved as it was blocking a heating filter which needed replacement. JR came promptly. He offered us suggestions for better placement so we would not have to repeatedly move the bookcase and we realized his solution was far superior to our plan. We had a long list of repairs that needed to be completed. The jobs included replacing a faucet, fixing a shower door, replacing a thermostat and fixing a screen. Jeff came over and walked though the work with me. On some items, he explained how I could do the job myself, on others he suggested some local resources for replacement parts (so we could have the parts ready when he arrived). For the shower door, he came up with a creative, low-cost solution that saved us from having to replace the entire door. His work is very professional. We will definitely call him again. I came home Thursday night and interrupted a burglary in progress in my home. I wasn't harmed, but the doorjamb was - they pried the door open by damaging the door frame. I left a message for Jeff, and he called back on Friday within 10 minutes. I had a leak in my garage, and he was able to trouble shoot the issue. He said it was a roof jack, that was tracking water down a pipe, and into the drywall of the garage's ceiling. We called Jeff based on a Sears delivery that went horribly wrong. The gas dryer of which I paid Sears to deliver and hookup and paid for the parts to do the hookup. The delivery crew stripped threads on gas shut on/off valve and left with my purchased parts and left the job unfinished, they admitted NO FAULT AND ADVISED ME TO CALL A REPAIRMAN. He responded promptly, scheduled a time with us (which was a couple weeks out--he was busy and didn't have availability right away but was upfront about that), and then showed up exactly on time. Jeff is wonderful! We just moved into our first home, and we asked Jeff to come help us take care of a bunch of small household fixes (installing a lock on our basement door, fixing a deadbolt, anchoring some furniture, hanging curtain rods, etc.). He also installed shelving and a closet rod in one of our closets. Jeff took my ideas and ran with them. He was great about helping me to understand what works and what doesn't in an older home like mine. As other reviewers have mentioned, he was willing to troubleshoot a project with me. For instance, I had purchased a closet shelving set to install. Jeff encouraged me to think about how I might maximize the storage space in the closet without adding a lot of expense. What he came up with is vastly superior to what I would've had if he had not been willing to talk through the project with me. Also, when we realized that the hooks I purchased for coats in our entryway wouldn't be very sturdy, Jeff offered to find a solution. He's going to attach the hooks I purchased onto a finished piece of wood that he'll then attach to the studs in the wall for sturdy entryway storage. I called Jeff to finish our kitchen after our old handy person quit half way through. I explained in detail all the things we needed done and Jeff said he would take the job and put us on the schedule for two weeks out. I asked if he wanted to do a walkthrough and he said no, but if he had time the Thursday or Friday before our job was scheduled to start he would come by. He did not end up doing the walk through and on the morning he was scheduled to start he showed up, looked around and said "he'd pass". I appreciate the honesty that the job was too complicated but I was pretty upset that we wasted two weeks when we could have been looking for someone else. I even asked if he would be willing to do any part of the job that was in his scope and he just said no. I can't say enough great things about Jeff and his work. We asked him to do everything from trouble shoot a light fixture to install a pressure relief valve on our water heater to replace Trex-like deck sleeves.
