After the windows were cleaned it seemed logical to replace a kitchen window screen that the squirrels had damaged several years ago. I don't know why they chose that one. None of the others were damaged, but so it goes. I did a search and found Handyman Flores. I called him, but the voicemail on his phone is not set up, so I was unable to leave a message. I used the Yelp communication tool to leave him a message and that made the process far more complicated than it needed to be, because Yelp sent the message to several other window-related companies. It was very aggravating and I won't use that again, because I'm having to respond to all sorts of random companies and people Yelp contacted on my "behalf". Only one of the 4 or 5 companies was local. The closest otherwise was San Rafael. The others were in Pittsburg and San Ramon. Talk about a blunt instrument, unhelpful and, in my case, counterproductive. Most helpful of those was Paula, of East County Glass & Window. If I lived closer, I would certainly use them. Her response was detailed and extremely useful. I finally did reach Handyman Flores, who said by text that he could replace the screen for $120. That seemed OK. I was quoted a range of prices and that was in the middle. He and a helper came over between 5:00 and 6:00 this evening. They replaced the screen and it looks great, as good as new. When I was writing the check I confirmed the amount and he said that it would be $150 because of the materials he had purchased. That was a surprise, but I paid it. He does a wide range of services, so he is indeed a handyman. It would be handier for his customers if his voice mailbox were set up. read more

Was Willing to do any adjustments asked, but spread leftover wet concert in rocks in corner of my front yard. I would not consider such action professional. That is why I giving only 3 stars. DO NOT USE ALEXIS FLORES! I had a signed contract with him to do a number of things for me with an agreed-upon price. He installed a few doors, and came and built drawers and a cupboard -- with the quality of work being probably a 4 out of 10 (nails still sticking out of the inside of the drawers!). He then extorted me and said he wouldn't continue the work unless I paid him another $1,000 over what we had agreed upon. Since he was several thousand less than other contractors I had talked with, I did an addendum to our contract with a timeline and paid him. He showed up for another week, and then disappeared and would not answer my phone calls or text messages. He is completely unreliable and will tell you he will be there, and at the last moment, will tell you he is on another job and can't come till the next week. Save yourself money, time, and frustration -- he may quote you less, but you will end up paying more in the end. I am guessing the 5-star reviews here are for small , same day things, but even if you have something small, I would not recommend him from the quality of his work. Find another handyman. read more

Alexis was great. Very responsive, skilled, efficient, and reasonably priced. He really saved us, because our dog jumped up and broke the gate out of our backyard. He responded within a few minutes, and was at our house within an hour. He showed up masked, and was careful of social distancing. He gave us a fair estimate and got right to work. He and his helper worked quickly, did great work, and cleaned up after themselves. We are very happy with the final product. We would definitely use "Handyman Flores" again. After stating he was interested to do the job I asked for a written estimate which he never gave in writing because he questioned that he didn't want or need to sign one and suddenly had a change of hart and now doesn't have time to do the job.
