I can't say enough good things about Dany. He is dependable and affordable, he does excellent work and he does it quickly. He came out to give an estimate and was confident in both his work and his timeline. We had just had a very poor experience with a contractor who left us hanging with some of our projects and Dany was able to save the day for us. In two days, he installed the backsplash in our kitchen, fixed the plumbing and other bathroom fixtures, installed the kitchen sink and the garbage disposal, and fixed baseboards throughout the house. When we found other work that needed to be done, we called him again and he fixed some electrical work that our previous contractor messed up, some countertop fixes, and installed the OTR Microwave that needed a new vent hood. Dany is very honest, pleasant and hard working. He and his crew also are very skilled. They completed everything in a single day and did a beautiful job. Dany was the only handyman of 5 or 6 I contacted who actually came out to give me an estimate. The others were either too busy or too far away. He came out the next day and me an estimate 2 days later. He also had some excellent suggestions for two jobs that had been causing us problems for years. One was the gate to the chicken pen that my daughter had installed using an old screen door. We had to secure it with bungee cords and wire and try various barriers to keep our Yorkie from pushing in and feasting on scraps. He suggested a latch instead of a barrier. You probably think a latch is a no-brainer, but we don't have the tools to drill through a metal screen and a fence post. It never occurred to us! Fortunately, he knew what to do right away and it worked beautifully! Another was the flexible plastic downspout extender to a rain barrel that was continually being blown down by the wind. We have the same type of plastic extender in the back with no problems, but it didn't work in the front. He suggested metal. It looks great and will definitely hold up in any storm. He and his crew were here one week after his original estimate with all of the necessary materials (With other handymen, I've had to run to Home Depot to buy the materials). In addition to the jobs already described, they fixed a heavy duty metal framed gate and fence. I had explained that the boards kept coming off so he purchased thicker and stronger boards to replace them. The latch had also been broken by the wind, so they installed the much larger latch that I'd purchased months before. We are so happy to have this gate usable again! It had been secured with cinder blocks so I couldn't open it. Dany replace the molding across the top of my front picture window that had also blown off in the wind. It was less than 2 years old, but had clearly not been properly secured. The last job was a rooted door frame and rusty security screen. They replaced and painted the entire frame and even painted the screen. It looks like new. I hope this review brings Dany lots of new business and that he can expand to include additional workers. I don't want him to be so busy that I can't call on him again when I have a list of jobs to do. read more

Made an appointment to have my gate looked at for repair. No one ever showed up and my follow-up was ignored.

Dany priced the job to fix a broken door and jamb along with paint for a reasonable fee. He and his helper arrived exactly on time, were conscientious enough to remove their shoes before coming in, and went right about the job. They completed in just about the amount of time he predicted and did great work. They had to do some touch-up paint and it all blended fine and everything looks like new. Better than we expected! He even had the opportunity to charge me extra for a few small parts and declined. He speaks good English and is a really jolly guy. My go-to next time again for sure. read more

Our bathroom needed an upgrade and based on the great reviews here, I contacted Dany for the job. Dany was easy to work with and was able to fit the project into his schedule. His estimate was perfect and budget appropriate. We replaced a 24" vanity with a 30" vanity, removed the in-wall medicine cabinet with a flush-mount cabinet, and required moving the electrical junction box for the new light bar from one side of the stud to the other side so it was symmetrical with the vanity. Plus, he and his assistant installed a new vinyl tile floor. Due to the vanity size difference, adjustments had to be made along the way to get it to fit with the existing water inlet pipes and drain pipes. Dany was a pro and had creative solutions with each step. The flooring aspect was a challenge too, but their experience really showed as they progressed through it step-by-step. What appeared to be a simple DIY update project proved to be more complicated, so I was very glad to have hired Dany for the project. The result is wonderful and we are very happy with our choice of Dany to do the work. We had Dany to replace kitchen sink disposal. I bought the disposal online, and Dany picked up at Home Depot. He showed up at the house (in Hercules) on time and courteous. Did a great job. I don't know what more can I ask!! Will give him more job to do in the future. read more

Danny made a small job sound much harder than it was so that he could justify a high price. I needed to replace a faucet. It's an older wall mount style that attaches hot and cold valves to two separate pipes. When Danny saw it, he said I probably couldn't find that sort of faucet at a local hardware store. He'd need to remove the faucet, take it to a plumbing supply store and try to find a suitable replacement. He quoted $200 for labor, plus whatever the faucet costs. Seemed pricey but reasonable if he'd have to run around looking for this hard to find part, so I agree. The next day, his associate showed up. Danny tells me they happened to have a faucet on hand which they could try. Oh wow, it fits. While it is being installed, I googled the part number and learned this kind of fitting is totally standard. I called Danny and asked if it would be cheaper since the job was not as complex as the one he quoted. No, still $200 plus parts. I ask him to explain. He doesn't; instead he gets angry and tells me he can take the faucet back, which I agree to. I then took a trip to my Ace hardware, where I actually got to CHOOSE my faucet from a selection of about a dozen that fit. If Danny has a minimum fee for small jobs, fine. Just tell me that. But this sort of dishonesty to milk me was a bummer. read more

Dany did the finishing work for a large bathroom remodel that my boyfriend and I undertook for our home recently. You can see the photos above (grey tile with white tile above). Before Dany started the finishing work, my boyfriend and I were apprehensive as to the final outcome of the project. We were basically pouring every last penny into this bathroom remodel (the remodel was necessitated by a leak) and as first time homeowners, we wanted the final outcome to make us proud and increase the value of our home. Dany worked on the wall, tub surround, and floor tiling, painting, cabinet painting, and sink installation. Working with Dany was not only pleasant throughout, but the final bathroom finishes made us feel that the money and energy we put in was well worth the results. For example, the wall tiling was challenging -- 1/16 inch spacing and special grout that, if not handled properly, can leave streaks. The tiling looks beyond professional and Dany attended to every detail. Also, I was home during the day managing the remodel and Dany was such a pleasure to work with. Dany and his crew completely replaced our back deck, and not only did a fantastic job, they got it done in just 4 (or maybe even 3) days. Solid workmanship. At first he seemed good, as we needed some quick help with a water leak, and he came over pretty quickly to work on the job. Ended up tearing out a small section of drywall in a wall, removing a small amount of insulation, and slapping up a new piece of drywall to cover the hole since he said that he could not fix it then and would have to come back. We tried to reschedule a week later and still he could not do it. We eventually did the emergency part of the work ourselves and moved on to a new contractor for the remainder of the work. He demanded $300 for the small amount of work he did, and became insulting when we told him this was too much to charge for the amount of work he did. read more

Dany and his crew inherited a garage conversion that was 70% done but needed 3 rooms dry walled, some insulation, a couple of doors installed and ceilings put in place. It took about a week but the results and work were excellent. There were no plans or architects. Just me. Fortunately, Dany and his guys anticipated many of the problems and detail decisions in a place that was almost like 3 different additions built over the past 70 years and jammed together. Best of all, I had the rare experience of having a contractor negotiate me DOWN after I gave Dany a couple of progress checks without him having to ask for them. My bedroom needed a make over so it was Dany to the rescue! The interior walls of the closet had to be replaced along with new closet doors, new wood flooring, new light fixture, new light switch and outlets. Dany was wonderful putting back together a bathroom wall that had been poorly patched by plumbers months earlier. I've been in poor health and hadn't had the energy to get the drywall repaired, the patch job repainted, and also cover some holes the plumbers had left in the floor. Dany did all three beautifully. He was very prompt and communicative, which I greatly appreciate as I need to sleep during the day and can't be too flexible with my hours. He is personable (and was very friendly to my cat :) He came out to look at the job first, understood exactly what needed to be done, and had some good ideas of how he might do it. His quote seemed very reasonable, in line with the couple rough estimates I'd gotten online. Dany's local, just one town away from me, so I felt that he'd be more likely to be responsive. (I've had a couple flaky workers to deal with in the past.) The day we scheduled, he showed up right on time with his assistant, covered things up, and got the work done in less than half a day while I managed to nap and keep my cat out of the way in another room. I'd had to put this project off for almost five months and was so relieved to have it done. I feel I could count on Dany for other work that might be needed in the future. We needed a new fence built at the rear of our house and installation of netting for keeping our cats secure in our back yard. Dany gave us a couple of very reasonable estimates based on wood materials and we quickly completed a contract. He and his crew were able to start the work within 3 weeks (which is very reasonable for a busy contractor) and they completed the entire job within 3 and 1/2 days which was outstanding. We have nothing but good things to say about Dany: he is kind, thoughtful, professional, communicative, conscientious. He and his crew were very careful not to trample on existing plants and bushes as they removed our old fence and installed the new one (built of untreated redwood). Whenever there was a decision to be made, Dany explained the options to me or my wife before proceeding. There were no "surprises". What most impressed me about Dany is that he is a great problem-solver. For example, we have two gates leading into our back yard and he was able to design and construct two new swinging doors that would prevent our cats from escaping. It was a pleasure to work with Dany from beginning to end, his crew is friendly, the work was completed at a very high standard, and the price was reasonable. They did a fantastic job of cleaning up and hauling when they completed the work. Could it be anything worse than water penetrating your house ? Yes, when the water destroys your new, very expensive wooden floors. That is what happened to us last winter after the heavy rains. We tried any imaginable "experts" for help - plumber, civil engineer, foundation contractor. They all came over, examined a problem and each suggested different fixes (sealing foundation, installing sump pump, etc) but NOBODY was sure what is the source of the problem. Finally I called Dany. He showed up, and after 10 min or so suggested that problem was a leaking siding in one of the walls. To prove this he did a water test of the wall and sure enough - water started leaking on the floor. After that it was simple - Dany replaced the siding of the wall and also sealed the minor cracks on other wall. After completion he water-tested the wall again - NO LEAKS. That included having him come back to correct a few major issues that he was more than willing to correct at no extra cost. With a five-star handyman/contractor, I can totally relax, vs being semi-involved with everything. If I could give 6 stars for integrity, though, I would. Earlier in the year I hired Dany to do some interior retrofit to facilitate some duct work to be connected to the heating furnace, He did a fantastic job. So I hired him to remove carpet in a bedroom and refinish the hardwood floors to match the rest of the house. Dany and his crew did a fantastic job!
