However, when he finished the work, he left large boxes and packing materials scattered where he opened them and filling our kitchen floor and on the dining room table. He didn't do anything to organize the mess or break down the boxes. He said most of it was recyclable and he wouldn't do anything with it. Left us to clean up after he left and figure out how to manage and get rid of these large heavy boxes. Additionally, he had put the old AC on our deck. We asked if he would recycle the old AC and he agreed - charging us an additional $200 to take it. When he put it on our deck, it left piles of black (not sure what) that we had to clean after he left. Additionally, I had purchased a new bracket to support the new air-conditioner. One repair was time-sensitive, and the company initially offered immediate repairs but suggested returning a few weeks later due to them being booked up. This approach was reasonable and appreciated. However, after further communication with the company, I discovered for the time sensitive repair, they required a $250 deposit prior to any work starting, and would charge their minimum two-hour fee of $300. The job involved simply reattaching one side of an outdoor sun shade, resulting in an estimated total of $820.85 for all of the repairs. As a homeowner I've had several estimates and repairs completed by Handy-person services over the last few decades, but this one has to be the most unreasonable. In contrast, I contacted another Handy-person service company today that arrived at my residence within 30 minutes of my initial contact.They provided an on-site estimate and completed all the necessary repairs in a single hour. The total cost was $110.50, which included tax. This experience met my expectations. The service was reasonably priced, and the handyman was professional and skilled. I now have established a go-to handyman who I can build a lengthy business relationship, year after year. It is unacceptable to ask customers to pay for labor before the work is completed. Materials may be charged, but labor should not be. So glad I found this new Handyman service company. I will definitely be leaving a positive review for them.
