"J" does it again!!! - Bettinardi I've been looking for the putter with the right "feel" for a long time. I liked the the odyssey for how soft it felt off the face but I didn't like the look. I got a Scotty and it wasn't the same - firmer face and the ball flew off the face. Jason told me about Bettinardi but everything I saw on YouTube... said it was firmer .. Scotty part 2. Jason fitted my Queen Bee 15 and the feel was better than an Odyssey and more smoother swing than my Scotty.. he is a miracle worker! Being fitted is definitely the way to go! read more

Curtis fitted me for a driver. Very quickly he found the correct shaft and clubhead combination. When compared to the driver that I had been using the ball went further, straighter, with less spin. Did it instantly improve my playing and lower my score to scratch? Well, we still have a bit of user error but I don't regret the fitting or the price of the new driver. I went to J to get a fitting for Driver shaft and advice on my iron shafts. It was a great session that put me on the right shaft but more importantly, he identified the issue with my driver swing. J confirmed that my iron shafts fit me. My advice for my fellow golfers: Skip the next couple of range sessions of pounding balls without objective feedback. Instead, invest in a fitting session with J. Too many golfers are throwing money to the wind without getting an objective eye: J's and the launch monitor. read more

had a driver shaft cut and tipped to fit a mini driver and the work was done quickly but thoroughly. didn't have the grip I wanted but showed me some other options that I was able to choose from and was pleasantly surprised. would definitely come back for more work to be done! read more

As someone who used to frequent Roger Dunn, golf, Galaxy, and those types of big box retailers a lot of the time you feel like you're being sold a club that they're getting a kick back on or whatever the case may be, but that's not the case with Jay. I first came to him to have my loft and lies, checked on my irons and not knowing enough about the process. Jay took me out on the range and asked me to hit a couple balls and instantly was able to adjust my irons and give me some of the best Flights and the most confidence I've had in my arms in a long time. Several months later, I developed an issue in my elbow that required me to switch to graphite and Jay was able to take 130 g extra stiff flex steel out of my iron head and create a graphite combination that would work for me at the same exact swing weight, same exact feeling all while minimizing The wear and tear on my joints and in my elbow. All the prices are extremely reasonable. You never feel like you're being taken advantage of and he stands behind all his work and everything that he does if you want to be confident in what you're getting is right for you it's built correctly to the highest quality of standards Jay is definitely your man. The only thing I wish is that I found Jay sooner because I feel like I could've saved myself a lot of time and money, listening and going to him, but he will be the only person I trust to build any clubs for me. read more

His family used to own the local Pro Golf Discount shop in Simi so he has a great reputation for doing excellent work. He completes his work fast, affordable, and with a smile. His re-gripping is precise and never has tape, glue dripping off the club, or torch marks on the shaft. I've had a few sets of clubs re-shafted as well and I couldn't have been happier with the finished products. I have been a customer/client of J's for many, many years. I began visiting Jason for my club repairing needs approximately 12 or 13 years ago when plied his trade at the former Pro Golf Discount store in Simi Valley. Simply put, Jason is worth the drive from ANYWHERE in Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley. Knowledgeable, experienced, personable and dedicated to customer service. What more could a customer ask for? Jay used Doppler radar in his fittings - the information garnered for this session is definitely worth the reasonable cost for the time spent. Jay can get you just about any club, shaft, grip that you might wish. And he has no issue with you bringing him the components for his assembly. Received a recommendation to visit Jason to have my junior's clubs checked for proper fit. So often, folks either cut adult clubs or don't put too much thought into proper clubs for juniors which then translates to poor technique, etc. as a result of playing with bad clubs. The original intent was to have his putter checked. He's using a face-balanced putter, but needs a bit of toe-hang to match his stroke so Jason suggested he could do everything for us; putter, clubs -- everything. We made our appointment and met him at his shop and we went through the full bag from 60° through driver. After lie and length checked, it turns out we NOW have a properly fitted set. When originally purchased, this set was too long for him, but he has since grown into them. That was my fault for just trusting that the stated length on the clubs (54"-57") would correspond to his height. For juniors, the recommendation is to make sure they grow out of their clubs and not into their clubs. Point noted. After our bag check, we went to the putting green where Jason had the SAM machine set up for his putter check. This thing is just absolutely great. A true gem of a tool that spits out numbers that confirmed our ideas. Sure enough, his face-balanced putter was not a great match for his particular stroke. He showed us how toe-hang would help with alignment and execution and wham-o...it was great. Even more impressive than the actual fitting was Jason! What a great dude! Completely -- and I mean completely knew his stuff, hit it off immediately with my boy, didn't try to sell us anything or convince us of anything -- answered all of my questions and told us to return with his new putter to have that checked as soon as we got it. I Inquired about iron shaft replacement last week and informed them that i have the shafts and grips, and jason glady accepted my request even though i didnt buy the replacement shafts from them.. jason changed the whole set in just after one day which was great. Big retail stores will make you wait a week most of the time and i kinda needed the clubs right away and jason didnt dissapoint.. at first, I was kinda unsure if the shafts will work considering that we had a miscommunication (which was entirely my fault) but it worked out well in the end since im able to hit my irons much better now.. jason even offered to alter it to my liking with no charge. I wished i knew about him a long time ago. You have a new loyal customer in me from now on. Thank you jason. Great guy, knows his stuff, highly recommended. Prob a good amount less than you will pay at a big box store or a golf fitting specialist. Lengthened a few of my clubs through grip extensions, couple of them are quite wobbly on the ends so I have to choke down, kind of defeating the purpose. Also put a new shaft on a broken driver and while the one I needed wasn't in stock he talked me into and I agreed to something prob too light. Did 6 clubs in 5 hours and gave an hour notice on pick up time which I appreciated. I was 10-20 minutes late, they weren't ready and I felt he rushed the last couple. I asked him if I could hit them right away or if they needed to dry for a while, he said I could hit them right away. Went to diff range 30 minutes later and a couple of the grips were dripping and slipping. I know you are not seeking my advice Jason, but if they are ready to hit, supply a small bucket or 10-12 balls and make sure customer is happy before billing and sending on way. Just my two cents, still happy with the interaction and value. read more

Jason built me a set of Titlest MB712's with KBS C-Taper shafts. How awesome is it when you go to a club maker and when you pick them up you can walk 10 feet with your new clubs and test them out on a grass driving range. Or walk over to the Starter and take your new Sticks on the course for a test drive. Well you can do that at J's. He can build them from scratch as well as all the other things you can get done. Can't do this at Golfsmith. Get you putter customized and then walk 20 feet to a putting green and try it out. Can't do that at Golfsmith. Get your clubs truly fitted to you with the computer on a grass range, How cool is that? Beats getting fitted hitting into a net off a mat. Who wants to get fitted like that? Jason did an outstanding job in custom fitting me to my irons and woods today, which were all pings. He fitted my G400 woods and S58 irons. After he encouraged and adjusted my clubs lie and length, he took me to the grass to hit my irons. I have never hit my irons so pure off of the grass! Amazing work by him and he had tremendous wisdom for adjusting clubs. He regripped my irons and shorter my clubs and adjusted the lie for an incredible price and said I want you to be a lifelong customer. Frankly, I'm not sure why you'd go anywhere else. Jason is friendly, easy to talk to and incredibly knowledgeable about golf equipment, how clubs work, and most importantly how they work for you. I had my fitting a month ago for a driver and a set of irons. We started with driver, after some mixing and matching of heads and shafts, Jason said "moving on to irons". I said "what am I fit for"? He said my current driver. "I can't do better than what you have, let's move on". I was astonished. I mean I hit my driver well, but I was perfectly willing to put 500 down on a new one. Jason said no need, you're good with what you've got. Thats honest. So I ended up purchasing a set of irons. Since then I have played my new clubs for 7 rounds, (one a tournament) and many practice sessions. The clubs are a major upgrade from what I was using. I am very happy with them and plan on employing these clubs for years. So yeah you could go to Club Champion or Cool Clubs and spend three times the money to hit balls INSIDE INTO A NET. Or you could go see Jason and be fit outdoors in the beautiful California sunshine and get to see the actual ball flight. I know which one I would pick. read more

Update: I finally played a round with my driver and the new diamana white board shaft Jason sold me. The club head came clean off because of a lack of epoxy, he told me he would stand behind his product but multiple phone calls and a voicemail later no reply.
