Small but quaint salon. Located in Waipahu, right behind Times Supermarket, and on the same strip as the Waipahu Transit. I started coming here, since one of my good friends decided to rent out a chair at this Salon. The shop has 4 chairs, 2 hair wash stations, a bathroom, and one sofa. The shop itself is really nice and clean, however, it seems a bit to squished for my liking. On the plus side, I believe this place is only reservations only through the barber that are renting out chairs. You will never know if it will be too crowded, or empty, it really depends on when the barbers have appointments. Most of the time I've been here I have never had a bad experience, however there was this one time where there was just 4 people and it was too loud, seemed like it was to small for the barbers to even move around. You don't want someone to "accidentally" bump a barber while theyre cutting hair right? LOL OOps! But I know my barber is bound to do a great job, no matter the crowd in there. I usually get my hair cut once every month, or 2 depends how lazy I am haha. Now for my barber.. Dessire is one of my good friends since high school, and I have always gone to her for all my hair problems! Terrible customer service. I would give it a 0 stars if I could. I just moved to the Waipahu area, and was looking for a new place to cut my hair since my old barber was in town. I read some reviews, did some research and came across J-Style in Waipahu. It looked like a good place with good barbers, so I went to check it out. Got to the shop around 1630 hours, it was packed so I waited outside until I was able to take a seat inside. It's not that big inside with about 4 chairs to cut hair and a couch and chair for customers. So, I'm sitting there in the customer chair just waiting til a barber is available. I was watching the barbers work, and it looked like they know what they're doing. I was excited to get my hair cut by someone new. As I'm sitting there, I watch customer after customer after customer come in and skip me and I'm thinking to myself "I'm sure I'm next, after this guy I'm next." Finally, at about 1815 hours (1.45 hours) of sitting there patiently, one of the barbers turns to me and asks me if I have an appointment. After almost 2 hours of sitting there, somebody finally acknowledges my presence! I tell him "No I don't, do I need one?" And he says, "yeah, sorry we're totally booked today." I'm like WTF? Not only did I just waste almost 2 hours of my life, I have to walk out this semi-crowded small business full of shame. Needless to say, I'm sure the barbers here are talented as I was witness to it first hand, I will never actually know because I will probably never come back here, as well as any of my family or friends. JStyle Salon is hands down the best salon that I've been to. Very comfortable and soothing environment. I honestly would not mind waiting die to the fact that it's so comforting. Talented barbers and hairstylists! Didn't know this salon existed. Everyone is so nice, friendly and easy to get along with. The guy that did my hair took his time and made sure I was satisfied, I forgot his name lol, I think it was manny or something. Excellent barber shop to go get your hair nice and tight for men, women and kids. Been coming here for almost a year and I've been loving it. The barbers are EXCLUSIVE and AMAZING that's why they operate mainly through appointments only, which is a plus because it keeps the barber shop from looking like an over crowded waiting room and because of that, the vibe is more chill compared to the chaos and confusion that the other salons/barber shops have.....its pretty much a full service shop, you get your eyebrow fix, ladies get their hair done however they want, they'll finish the fellas off with the razor and lastly wash your hair. Small location but they pump out tons of customers daily. Especially with their highly sought after barbers dishing out faded designs at a very reasonable price. They don't rush you in and rush you out here, they take the time to make sure each line is symmetrical and the fade is even. I only allow my other half to have Jay Asuncion touch his hair, no more Supercuts for him. Jay is versatile when it comes to hair, not only does he do my bf's hair he does mine too! He layers, texturizes and highlights my hair perfectly everytime. And I don't have to pay the $300 Regis Salon price! I go wherever my hairstylist goes.
