This company advised they would send someone out between 9am-11am. At 10:30am I received an email from Ryan stating that he advised his technician to leave because I "already have a plumber on site." I can understand if it was awkward or can be seen as troublesome if there is another plumber present. The timing was not ideal, but I did not plan for, nor know, that they would be at my residence at the same time frame. Technicians typically give a call when they are on their way and provide an ETA, not just show up. I never received any notice this technician was on the way, nor did I know the technician even came. Furthermore, he stated, "In the future if you call multiple companies it would be kind to let the company know so that they do not waste their time and money sending a technician out." I feel like this email was completely unprofessional. If there were any concerns about what was needed or if the company felt like coming out for a quote was a waste of their time, they did not have to send anyone out. Heating & Cooling for routine cleaning and maintenance on a system I purchased from them for approximately $8,000, and for which I've paid hundreds more over the years for service. The technician who performed the service lost a manufacturer-specific fastener and reassembled the enclosure improperly. One corner of the cover was left with about a 1/2-inch gap, which allowed a significant amount of cooled air to escape into my attic throughout the hottest part of the summer, increasing my electric bill. I discovered the problem months later while replacing the filter. I called Philbrick the next day and requested they correct their mistake. It took approximately four days to get a technician on site. He confirmed a fastener was indeed missing and attempted to fabricate a substitute. Lacking the right part and skill for that task, he ended up taping the corner of the door--a stopgap that still leaked air. He said he would try to scavenge the correct fastener from an old unit back at their facility and "take care of it." Instead, I was told I owed roughly $100 for this visit, despite the issue originating with their prior service. After multiple calls, I spoke briefly with the owner, who said he would investigate and get back to me. He never did, the service call was in June. About two weeks later when I called for an update, the receptionist told me the charge had been waived and she'd leave a message with he owner, but no one has ever followed up about the missing fastener or the energy loss. Today, I went into the attic myself with a flashlight, mirror, and magnet. In about 30 minutes I located the original fastener inside the unit and repaired the enclosure properly. I should not have had to do this. Based on this experience--poor workmanship, delay in response, an inadequate temporary fix, an attempted charge for their error, and no meaningful follow-through--I cannot recommend Philbrick Inc. I checked the Yelp reviews for that plumber & Philbrick, the plumbing company used by the restoration company that has done work for me. Philbrick had good reviews. The other had bad. Thank you Yelp! Calling Philbrick I expected a wait for service. Their customer service person put me on hold then returned to the line with great news. They had someone in the area & could come right away. Amazing! My tenant was home so I hoped to handle my end over the phone. The technician called on the way to the property and we discussed the problem. He finished getting the pilot light lit in record time & called me from the house. When that particular pilot light is lit there is a button you have to hold in for a specific amount of time. He had instructed my tenant on what had to be done. Both the trip charge & the charge for starting the pilot light were extremely reasonable. We handled the transaction over the phone with a credit card & the receipt was emailed to me. Randy, the technician was extremely nice and answered all my questions regarding the age & normal life span of the appliance. I also questioned the life span of electric hot water heaters, which I have in my main residence. I've had a hot water heater flood before. So I wanted to avoid that at both properties. When I thanked him for the prompt response he told me that he had been rerouted to me. His next call had been sent to another technician. That's the perfect way to handle "In Home" scheduling by a repair center. This company receives my highest recommendation. Thank you for making what started as a really bad day not bad at all. I didn't even lose my morning coffee hour(s) because of the conveniences they offered.

I asked my daughter who she used before in an emergency and she gave me the name of Guy Smith (Brian-the tech). Brian said he would be able to come out but it would probably be after 10 PM and he explained the charges-service call, after hours charge and the price of any parts. So far, so good. Brian got to my house about 10:30 PM and very quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad capacitor (his part #T600409 a 35 + 5 Dual Capacitor) on my Goodman Unit (Model #GSZ140241KH). Brian replaced the capacitor and ran tests for the operation, filled out his paperwork on his iPad, took payment, then left. Brian did a SUPERIOR job. Quick, efficient and pleasant to have fix the unit. Zero complaints on the tech or the service. No issue with the service charge or the after hours charge BUT was shocked at the price I was charged for the capacitor-after the fact. I had no clue as to the price of that capacitor. I searched many places for the prices of the official replacement one and nowhere did I see the price for the capacitor over $50. I understand a markup, but I was charged $385.88 for the capacitor alone. I guess maybe $100 to $150 with the markup would have been in line. I stopped by the Guy Smith office on Monday and spoke to the office manager (Antoinette) about my concern and she took a copy of my invoice and said the owner would follow-up. Today is August 13th and I have had ZERO follow-up. I believe I was charged well over $200 (being generous) MORE than I should have and would have at least appreciated a call/email/text from the company. NOTHING. I did read the reviews of the company...a lot good, some bad. Place my review in the "bad" column due to being GOUGED on part pricing in a bad situation. I hit Doug up, left a message, he called back that night, came out for a quote 2 days later, and boom, I knew he was the guy I wanted to do business with. Even though he was booked up he got me into his schedule and the job was completed before I was supposed to get the quote from another company. I had him run in a new 20 Amp circuit in my garage workshop. I doubt that company would've beat the price, as it was a really good one, and the work was quality. I really appreciated his thoroughness, and also his diligence to keep the house as clean as possible. I say that last point because he had to go in and out of our house like a hundred times and each time he was careful to take his shoe coverings on and off. That kind of diligence means a lot because it shows he pays attention to detail. At the end of the day, our house was given the assurance that everything is good to go for the winter and that's all I needed. Even more important, he wasn't trying to add more fees or unnecessary repairs to the house. Well done!

Turns out…read morethey are insanely expensive compared to some other licensed HVAC companies. $89 just for the site visit, which the tech said could NOT BE APPLIED to their cost of work. Their quotes were ridiculous. $358 to clear 2 condensate lines. $287 to add a condensate drain joist strap. $358 to replace 6 feet of insulated flex duct. All very accessible. Another company came out the next day and INCLUDED in their $99 site visit they cleaned out both condensate lines. Their quote for the remaining work was less than half what Norfolk Air Htg Cooling quoted, and the technician was far more friendly and explained things very well (I'm an engineer in 4 fields). The only positive was that Norfolk Air Htg & Cooling was very responsive -- same-day for a non-emergency. (but the other company was also just as responsive)
