This restaurant has been open for many years, and it used to be my go-to place for good take-out Chinese food. The pork fried rice was the best around. Unfortunately, at some point in the last several years, the ownership and cooks changed; it was not a good change. If I had reviewed this restaurant 5 or 10 years ago, I would have gladly given it five stars. However, my current rating of two stars is frankly generous. The ambiance rates a zero. Piled up boxes of supplies and no place to sit. Since it's really just a take-out place, I don't hold that against them. Sadly, the quality of the food has fallen to the level of bad generic Chinese take-out. The excellent pork fried rice is dripping with soy sauce and chocked full of celery and carrots and barely any pork. The extra ingredients that made it so good in the past are gone. I also ate the Kung Po chicken, which also had way too much soy sauce. The chicken pieces were fatty globs and once again, this dish was a very poor example of anything tasty. Frankly, most of this went into the garbage. The counter person was pleasant, so perhaps that justifies the two stars, but mostly it's out of nostalgia from when the food was way better than the mediocre rendition served now. I keep trying this place periodically, thinking it will return to the quality of the food in years past, but I now know that's a fantasy that will not be realized. read more

Just moved to this area a year ago and has been the best Chinese restaurant in the area! Always hit and is consistently good. We like the house lo mein, cashew chicken, and their jalapeño beef k believe it's called. The worst Chinese food I ever had.. the takeout menu prices in the front are not current. Look at the menu on the table for current prices..Beef with broccoli was terrible, the beef had no flavor and the fried rice was mushy. Barely any beef at all and the combo platter was almost $12. Starting with the menu, note the updated information to their website. Menu updates include the Appetizers, Chicken Wings, Sweet & Sour, Lunch Specials, and Combination Plates. My menu selection was based on wanting to sample a variety of their dishes, not due to a large appetite. The Spring Rolls were alright. Larger portion of the wrapper is used, filling is a minimal portion of cabbage or Chinese cabbage, overall they were fresh and hot. Pork Fried Rice was good, this is a dish that's hard to screw up. Pepper Steak with Onions was very good, generous portions of steak, onions, and green peppers, sauce is not overpowering or one that will kill the tastebuds. Moo Shu Pork was equally tasty, comes with 5 pancakes. Tried this dish with both the pancakes, and over White Rice, has a real good flavor. Cantonese Chow Ho Fun with Chicken was a pleasant surprise. I have a bias to noodles, not a huge fan of either Lo Mein noodles or the wider Chow Fun noodles, my favorite being Cantonese fried noodles. This is described as coming with the "Wide" Rice noodles, however it was actually prepared with the thinner rice noodles and made this a much better and pleasing dish, no complaints with this. Shrimp with Snow Peas, was delicious. Again, an equal balance of shrimp, snow peas, carrot, mushroom, watercress, and corn. Shrimp were actually real good, not tuff or overcooked. Overall, I was pleased with these dishes, and will return to try various other dishes. With our current environment, they offer Takeout, they also deliver themselves. Additionally, they do use DoorDash, Grub Hub, and UBER Eats. read more

Got takeout from this place, it came on time and steaming hot with TONS of condiments. Cream cheese wontons were decent, not a ton of cream cheese but they still tasted good Pad Thai was BOMB! So good, I had to tell myself to slow down when eating it Steamed Chicken Dumplings were good as well, my family described them as "chicken noodle soup all wrapped up" Also got a side of steamed vegetables and they were great! Crunchy, flavorful, and very fresh. I have seen some bad Chinese takeout, and I won't go into details, but this was some of the better food I have seen. Well done! Ordered delivery and was pretty impressed with the food. Yeah, it's not anything new but there are still levels of quality when it comes to standard Chinese fare. The flavors seemed about as good as you can find with this type of food, at least in the twin cities. I had the Hunan Chicken and the sauce was nice and savory. Eggrolls and fried rice met my expectations. No strange flavors and not over salted. One diner had the Moo Goo Gai Pan and said the flavor was very good but it could use some broccoli (the primary veggie in the dish is cabbage). I have got to say...considering I am in the western suburbs (MG, Plymouth, Wayzata area), I have been scourging for good...no...great Thai places, esp. for Pad Thai. This is what living in St. Paul does to you...I am a Pad thai, Pho, laab and Ethiopian/Eritrean snob...anyway... I have tried Pad thai at Lucky Street, Asian Duck, and others, and I really like the pad thai here. Is it authentic? No. The noodles are mad thin. And yet, the flavor that I want...that peanut, tamarind, funky fish sauce, dried shrimp funk, scrambled egg, and bean sprout goodness...it is there, my friends! From a "CHINESE" restaurant! Yummy. I also got the hot and sour soup, egg drop soup and steamed dumplings. The dumplings were beyond delish. And by beyond delish, I mean that I was eating them and suddenly realized my chopsticks came up empty, because I ate all 8 in one setting. They are delish. Perfect amount of filling to wrapping, and the dipping compliments the filling spot on. The soups were also quite good. The hot n sour soup was darker than I was accustomed to, and with less tofu/mushrooms, yet there was still a nice variety of mushrooms and tofu. The egg drop soup was also good. I have been getting over a stomach bug, and soup is always the right way to go for me. This hit the spot! During COVID-19, they dropped off at door and were wearing both mask and gloves. I gave one star less because I had asked for the delivery to not ring the door bell or knock, and instead call, because I live with two very loud (but extremely loving) dogs. A no-nonsense typical Chinese American take-out joint run by straightforward friendly folks. Newish management so some of the reviews may not be relevant for better or for worse. This was the first time I've had Egg Foo Young without any sauce and I'm really hoping it was an error. The wontons weren't deep fried and had the texture of a dumpling. We wanted the hot sesame sauce that accompanied the wontons on the side. It taste like peanut butter and I'm hoping an error was made there as well. First time order. Spring rolls, thought they'd be fresh, but were fried and had nothing in them and no sauce. Wings with garlic sauce, didn't realize I ordered soup..... pork chow fun mei, spicy. Got the spice right and the pork is really good, maybe I don't understand this dish, but it was hella dry. Ordered at 5:57 pm and delivery confirmation said 7:35. It arrived at 6:55 with someone calling from a NY area code. I asked for contactless delivery, but had to take it from driver. Idk not super impressed read more

I've had their delivery at least 4 times and I have to say their food is good. The reason I am giving one star is because delivery service is questionable. The last two times I swear the driver had been drinking, but today took the cake. My food was promised in 25 minutes. 1 hour and 15 minutes later no food. I called the restaurant and the owner said he would call the driver. The owner said my food would be there soon, which is fine. The driver showed up and proceeded to tell me the reason he was late is because he had to stop at the Toyota dealership for car parts and the guy at the parts counter kept him waiting. Additionally the driver was filthy, with grease and dirt all over his clothes. I don't mean here or there, I mean all over. I called the owner back and reported that his driver picked up car parts which was why the food was late and how dirty his employee was. The owner proceeded to tell me that he couldn't do anything about it because he didn't have any other drivers. Now I'm a patient guy who is also a manager, so I get the issues with staffing. However, I would never tell a paying customer that I can't dicipline an employee because I have no one else to work for me. Seems like a cop out so the owner didn't have to deal with a problem employee. I have a serious problem with this type of customer service (or lack there of). I didn't even want any service recovery. All the owner had to say was that what the diver did was unacceptable and so was his appearance and that he would work to correct the issue. Yet that's not what happened. I don't expect the driver to wear a tux to work but for crying out loud wear clean clothes to work (preferably free of profanity and obsene graphics). That speaks volumes to me about how this buisness is run. read more

It sounds like most all of the complaints here are related to delivery. The food itself is pretty good, one of the better americanized Chinese food places out there. Just keep in mind that service isn't great here, they don't spend much time thinking, "Hey, they'll probably need some napkins and utensils to eat this food!" Nor do they even care whether they wait until you get there to start cooking your food (I'm guessing on the off chance that the person ordering doesn't show up since you don't pay until you arrive). So keep that in mind, don't expect anything fantastic when it comes to speed or service, and focus on the food, which is good. read more

Good food, excellent delivery service! Wow, this place has been beat to death on Yelp.. However, my first order from Ju Yuan was very good! Pork fried had good flavor, good sized portion. Beef with Broccoli tasted good, with fresh broccoli, and the egg rolls were very fresh and tasty too! I ordered delivery, and asked for utensils. (Was stranded at work alone, no silverware) The driver arrived on time, but I noted no utensils were in the bag, after tipping him. He said he would drive to the gas station and get some for me. Sure enough, he returned with the utensils, AND a complimentary bottled water to boot! That's an awesome employee, with a great work ethic! Will order from here again! read more
