For $19.48 I got 9 donuts, 1 muffin, and a bottle of water. Not cheap for the poor quality of the donuts here. The first donut I tried was a glazed chocolate cake and at 836am it was quite dry and very disappointing. The glazed sour cream donut had no flavor and was also dry and only glazed on the dorsal half. The third I tried was a maple glazed cake donut which had a nice maple flavor to the icing but was also dry! The glazed blueberry cake donut was only marginally less dry. The glazed yeast donut was also somewhat dry! The chocolate glazed banana creme filled long john was awful. Haphazardly glazed chocolate didn't at all complement the flavor of the banana creme. The apple fritter was not dry thank God and had nice layers of cinnamon swirled into the dough with a nice couple of apple chunks throughout. This was the only item I tried out of them all that was not below average! The doughsant was acceptable as the fried croissant dough made the dessert nicely crispy outside with less of the dry cake crumb within like all the cake donuts I had. I've probably tried hundreds of donut shops in my life. Overall this place has unacceptable gas station level quality and you absolutely must seek decent donuts elsewhere. Dry donuts suck and if you're a donut shop you have zero excuses especially at 830am! read more

My mother & I picked up some donuts here yesterday to take to my grandmothers. We knew it would be busy with it being Mother's Day, so we were prepared! Because of the social distancing regulations, they only allowed one customer in at a time with a mask on. My mom went in to get a dozen, and she was shocked with the amount they had! Even with their drive thru being packed and many cars in the parking lot, they had a huge variety to choose from. Plus, they were still pumping out many more! She said that the employees were very friendly and helped her very quickly. Now about the donuts, WOW! I had a bite of my mom's maple creme stick, and it was superb! I had a sour cream donut & a glazed one, and they were both incredible! We also got two small coffees for our drive, and I will say that their coffee was horrible... definitely Folgers or something cheap. (You must know, we are coffee snobs in this family though... In light of Covid 19, I've been looking to give my business more to local businesses than chains. After looking through yelp, Jubilee Donuts seemed to be an amazing place for a sweet tooth fix. They had the typical selection of donuts. I am a sucker for jelly donuts and to my surprise they offered lemon and raspberry. I picked raspberry so I could compare it to my go-to donut stop Dunkin. And boy oh boy was I impressed! Their jelly donuts are frosted not powdered (great for eating in the car). The filling had just the right amount of sweetness. And on top of everything, that donut was filled and gushing with jelly. Some people may find it overwhelming but it's perfect for me! The low ratings surprise the crap out of me, so I'm writing this review while wearing a pair of Depends. Jubilee donuts will not change your life, but they're really tasty. I go out of my way and drive past Dunkin Donuts to go to Jubilee. In fact, I'm certain that preferring Giant Eagle donuts to Jubilee donuts is a clinical sign of damage to the gustatory cortex sufficient to warrant a referral to a neurologist. I also like their coffee quite a bit - they don't have lattes or anything that I know of. So, if that's what you're looking for, this is not the place for you. I haven't had their bagels, since bagels are just stale plain donuts, and I like to eat food that tastes good. If you are looking for artisinal coffee or baked goods, I do not recommend Jubilee. But if you're looking for a good donut and a nice cup of coffee, check 'em out. read more

God, this place is so dingy. Has it always been like this? I have these great memories of it being a Krispy Kreme when I was a kid - sort of like an old diner, with regulars sitting at the Formica bar sipping espresso & reading the paper. Now, not only is it not a Krispy Kreme - which means it doesn't serve frosted glazed donuts, my favorites - it's also not 24-hour anymore (I guess I don't need donuts at 3am) AND it's just... sort of gross. It feels dirty inside. It doesn't even smell like fresh donuts! How is that possible? That said, I can't REALLY complain, because at the end of the day, the donuts are pretty damn tasty - & cheap. They also have a drive-thru, which is convenient, & they're right next to my favorite dive bar, which is also convenient, so those are all pretty serious pros. Get the creamsticks. I have been meaning to try Jubilee for several weeks now. I will be leaving to go back to NC soon, and I didn't want to take a chance of missing out. Classic donut shops seem to be nonexistent in Charlotte. Last night, I drove by and decided to stop. The shop was loaded with great looking donuts. This wasn't a pared-down smattering of selections like I have been seeing lately at places that happen to sell donuts. I felt like I was a kid again, getting donuts at the place near the house I grew up in. Only this time the person behind the counter was a bit friendlier (the donut shop of my childhood had a sign on permanent display that read, "I'll smile if you do.") I got one chocolate-covered cream stick, a sprinkled cake donut with chocolate glaze, and one regular glazed ring. All three were very good. Lately, my donut experiences have been one of disappointment and shame. You know. You pick up, what looks like a scrumptious cream stick--completely denying that it weighs five pounds. You take one bite, and it is stale and flavorless. The shame comes when you decide to just eat it anyway. NOT the case with Jubilee! I couldn't get home fast enough, for I started eating while I was in the car. Definitely going back for some more soon. read more

I must admit I never in a million years thought I would be reviewing a donut house! We've all been there, holding a filled donut in one's hand trying to gauge where the filling is so you can break away and toss the somewhat dry flavorless dough and just eat the filling-sodden center, only to find that throwing away three eighths of the side opposite the poke hole and a quarter of the the poke hole side still left you with one last unwanted bite of dry dough you had to spit out to your hapless dog, before you could properly enjoy the filled portion! Not with a Jubilee donut. These guys know the reason the words jelly in jelly donut and cream in creamsitck appear first is because that is the component one wants to encounter the most. The donut is just a pleasant encasement. My strong advice, if you don't wish to wear the filling on your shirt for the balance of the day, hold a plate right under your mouth while you eat these things or all bets are off on that important appointment you have later! Jam packed lemon donuts, jelly donuts, creamsticks etc. and very good unfilled donuts as well, freshly made at almost any hour of the day or night. And if you 're extremely lazy they have a drive through window for those pajama-clad Sunday morning runs!!! All these years I had erroneously thought that Krispy Kreme was the standard by which donuts were to be judged. I now stand humbly corrected by the fine folks at Jubillee. And the nice thing, is we had arrived at the State Rd location prior, just as they closed, and they came out of the locked shop and told us about the Front St location where they apparently are made and advised that in 45 minutes or so there would be hot donuts available as cooking for the next day was about to begin! I have no idea why this place gets such good reviews? Maybe locals feel bad for it? I do not. They are wayyy to expensive for donuts that are just not very good. I can go to giant eagle and get better ones. If you get a bagel be prepared to pay like $1.00 for the smallest amount of cream cheese you could imagine. This will be a 2 part review. I actually attempted to work there, but am also a customer. So lets start with customer. It is great to have a place that is open late. When i do go there late night the people that run the counter are always nice and respectful. They know their product, which most donut shops do not. Yes they are a tad bit expensive. But having worked there I think I understand why. That is my customer review. Here is my work review. I interviewed with the owner. Very nice guy. I was told I would be doing production. Fine. I was not 100 percent sure what production was. I found out when I started there that what was needed was beyond what I was capable of doing. I have essential tremors. What that means is my hands shake. Almost like a tremor you might see in an elderly person ( sorry its the only way to describe it). This tremor gets worse when doing certain tasks. The more I do that task the worse it gets. Usually its things that may require balancing something with a little weight in one hand like a full glass or a big thing of orange juice. There were a lot of things that required me to have a hand that was more steady than mine. After the first night I figured out that I would not be returning. From an outsiders perspective I might recommend a few things. Your recipes are fine. The donuts taste wonderful. I think if your customers are repeat customers they would be willing to pay a tad bit more to get machines that might make the process quicker and more efficient rather than have the workers run around with their head's cut off. Example: The person that works the frier is in charge of the following all at once. load the uncooked donuts, monitor the frier itself to make sure the donuts do not get jammed. Turn on and off the glazer as needed. Pull the cooked donuts and rack them. Move the racks of completed donuts to a holding area to cool. When cool Flip the completed donuts from racks to trays for the various stores. Place the trays in the proper container for their store. Monitor the oil/grease and add more if needed. Flip cinnamon buns over so that when they get glazed the proper side gets glazed. All of this needs to be done while the machine is running with product. You must continue to feed uncooked product and pull cooked product and all these other things all at once. There surely may be some people that are able to do the process. More power to them. But it is a lot. And honestly its such a quick process there is a certain amount of risk involved especially when working with grease. Also the order of operations might need some work. The nights starts off by icing a certain type of donut. those are done and stored. then another type of donut is friend, iced and stored, then another. that goes on and on all night every night. Perhaps focus on getting one step done before going to another. In other words have all hands work on frying all the donuts. then icing those that need. many hands make light work. It seemed like this was being done the opposite way. Give many jobs to one person. Also production is only done at night and only done at one location for all of the stores. Thats a very limited time to produce a high volume of donuts. I am not sure if the secret behind that is to cut costs or what but it does put a lot of stress on the workers. I might recommend producing some days all day. In two shifts with some part timers. that way the work is not like a hurricane bowling you over. Or I might recommend producing at two locations. I remember the owner saying one or two locations used to be old Krispy Kreme locations. They have to have had the production space there. Believe it or not a tweak on efficiency might actually save you money. Sometimes you do not need new equipment or better people but better procedures. But now read this folks and know. The people who make your donuts. Work their butt off. They deserve every ounce of that money you pay for your donut. Also I will say this the pay rate for what is expected is a bit lopsided with production. There is a lot expected when you are in production. You might want to offer higher pay. If your reasoning for the pay rate is that it would raise the price of the donuts. The owner already admitted he is more expensive. I promise you there are ways to cut costs yet increase efficiency. I highly recommend having someone observe one night who is a consultant on efficiency. I Promise they will not try to change your recipe or flavors. All they are going to do is probably continue to have you offer the good tasting, high quality product but at less cost to you the owners and operators of the company. Lastly maybe try to figure out how to explain to someone when hiring what production really entails. When you bring someone in, they dislike or are unable to do the work, that costs you money. If you can avoid that waste its worth it. read more

Jubilee Donuts has lost any future business with me. I went into the location on State road on Wednesday. I asked them if they were hiring and the lady at the register said that two people recently quit and I had to go to the location on Front Street to fill out an application. On Thursday I drove out to the front st location to fill one out. The man behind the counter gave me a list of all locations and asked me if I could work at any of them. I looked them over and said that I could. He asked me if I was over 18, I said yes and that I was 22. He asked me if I smoked, I said no. He asked me if I was out of high school, I said yes. He then said he had to call the manager before he could even give me an application. He then handed the phone to me with the manager on the other end. Manager asked me if I could travel to all locations, I said yes and that it wouldn't be a problem. He asked me if I could work any of the store hours. I told him that I can work anytime on the weekend and that M-F I can work 6am-10pm. He then asked me in an insulting tone "Do you even know what our hours are?" The one by my house is 5am-6pm, but I noticed this location (on front st) was open until midnight (according to the sign). So I responded with "From 5am till midnight, correct?" To which he responded snidely with "What would even give you that idea!?" Taken back a bit I responded calmly with "I'm sorry, but that is what the sign on the door here says." He then went on to say that the location on Front St was the only one that was open that late and that the rest closed at 6pm. He asked if that would be an issue. I explained to him that my son's daycare is not open until 6am, but that I am available any time between then and 10pm and I can work anytime on the weekend. He then told me "Well, I don't see how this is going to work then" and hung up on me. I handed the phone back to the man back at the desk and thanked him for his time. I have NEVER been treated that way by any kind of management before. I do not know if I was being discriminated against because I am a woman, because I sound young over the phone, or if he was just in a bad mood. I was polite and professional talking to him and he treated me horribly. Needless to say this company has lost my business as well as several people I know. I am glad that I was not hired. If people looking for a job are treated this way it makes me wonder how management treats their employees. read more
