Let me start by saying I've been eating off food trucks for 30 years (construction). Also my son worked on several over the last 5 years (same company, different trucks). This picaera truck straight dominated all of them. I ate the steak bowl. The meat had to of been slow cooked in a crockpot (only way to get it that tender). It was soooo goood. The rice was also the best rice I've ever eaten (spice room is my favorite restaurant, and this beat them). I'm honestly just blown away by how good it was. 15 out of 10 ( that's right they smashed the scale). Luki is a great brewery. Friendly staff with great beer. Will now be my go to place since I discovered picaera.

If you happen to either come across this food truck by chance at a brewery or follow them on social media and seek them out be rest assured you will have amazing food! You walk up to the truck decide what you want and do all the ordering through a tablet with no contact/interaction. You leave your phone number so a text will let you know when your delicious food is ready! My local area has about one authentic Puerto Rican restaurants and it is tasty but this is leagues ahead! The menu was filled with so many tasty options that made it seem impossible to decide but both my wife and I wanted a plantain sandwich, the only difference she wanted steak and I wanted chicken. I had a difficult time deciding which was better and we also split a chicken empanadilla that was incredible as well. Give this food truck a try if you want tasty food with huge portions for the price!

This was (INDEED) a nice discovery…read more I gathered with friends at City Park Jazz tonight (July 23, 2023) and Taste of Soweto caught my attention so I gave it a shot. By the way, its name is an English syllabic abbreviation for South Western Townships which I didn't know until today. This south African cuisine is something new to my palette. I've had Ethiopian and Somali dishes in the past when it comes to African food but I didn't know what to expect from Soweto. What I got me was a curry/stew that is so thick and stout; I've never had a curry/stew this thick before so it shocked me in a very surprising way. When I got my food, I thought it didn't quite like the picture on the menu but once I took a bite of it, it simply didn't matter anymore. It's got a lot of spices in it but was mild to a point where it didn't burn my mouth so it's not spicy hot in any way. And the volume of it is simply astounding. When I picked it off the window of the truck, it was quite the weight. For $16, you'll definitely get the value you pay for. People inside the truck were pleasant so you'll have no issues with service either. A few minutes before my food was up, the guy came out and covered #3 on the menu. Got lucky to get the last one for the night. Must be the most popular item on the menu!!

If this is representative, it should be. While others were ordering, I checked out the menu board. While there was only a handful of options, choosing one was not easy. The curries in a bread bowl looked good, but basmati rice sounded better to host the saucy protein. Kalahari sausage sounds interesting, and they offer wings with either peri-peri or Kalahari sauce. A friendly greeting led to my ordering the beef Kota bowl. I sat down to wait--but not for long. Most food trucks seem to take longer than expected. These guys had my food ready and well-packaged in no time! The curry sauce offered a unique flavor more akin to that at Urban Burma than a Thai or Indian joint--excellent. Sizable chunks of tender beef screamed quality ingredients. This was addictive stuff and it disappeared in minutes. I say 4.5 stars for quality ingredients, and fast, friendly service, rounded up to five stars for uniqueness in this area.

Instead of a lemonade stand, my friends and I had a sidewalk food stand, where we sold pizza and hot pretzels to our neighbors. And now I work in downtown Denver, and I could go to a food cart everyday if I wanted to. So I've walked by Empanadas Argentina's blue umbrella a number of times, always on my way to someplace else and always thinking to myself "I've got to try that cart!" So I did. Today. And it's delicious. They have 4 kinds of empanadas: Spicy Chicken, Beef, Ham & Cheese, and Spinach with White Sauce. He was out of Spicy Chicken (damn you guy that just bought them all from under me!) but was cooking more up in his cart's oven. So I opted for the 3 empanadas for $5, and got 1 of each of the remaining choices. You have to get at least 3. I could probably have eaten 3 more. They aren't that big. The beef was by far the best. Flavorful, kinda cheesy with an outstanding buttery yet flaky crust. My second favorite was the Spinach. I was expecting more of an alfredo sauce for the white sauce, but it wasn't nearly as rich. Just enough sauce to give the spinach creaminess, yet little enough to not overwhelm the spinach. Same flaky crust. Finally, the Ham & Cheese. Also good, but it just seemed like a better quality/tasting hot pocket to me. Of course, it had that signature flaky crust. So if you're walking down 16th st. and have a hankering for a quick bite, grab some empanadas from Empanadas Argentina. You won't be sorry.
