Pardon of the blurry picture of the Menu from Carniceria Guadalajara. Westside Taco Tour UYE, Round Two! August 4th 2013.
    Riza H. C.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my thank you, to Kate G., who organized this event for us. Westside Taco Tour UYE, Round Two! Sunday August 4th 2013, 1st STOP I arrived early before 13:00hrs. Entered this Hispanic Supermarket and wondering where are the rest of the Yelpers. To my surprise, in this Hispanic Supermarket that also cook Hispanic Food and among those things were TACOssssss and other Mexican food. Luckily they have some seating areas to fit everyone for the Tour. Do NOT be fooled by the outside, there are many more things to explore in this Carniceria! Hispanic Supermarket CHECK! Hispanic Food CHECK CHECK! LOTS & LOTS OF Fresh Meat Galore on the left side of this establishment in the refrigeratored section CHECK CHECK CHECK! Lots to see LOTS to choose... I whispered to myself. After waiting for abit, one of the staffs will send your order to the table. Portions are huge for the amount you pay for the Taco you order. I opt for Lengua Taco and Tripa Taco. Oooh by now, those are my kind of "measurement" when I opt to have Tacos.. The problem is, since there aren't any price point of which taco is how much, but in the receipt it was stated as $1.99, and $2.25. When you order the Taco or your food, the "ordering counter" is all the way back on the Left Wing of this establishment. It was a "back-log" when we were there. But thankfully everyone is kind enough to wait and queue. I like my order of Tripa better than my order of Lengua. On my plate, they also provide their pre-made salsa, cut cucumbers, and slices of radish with lime. Nevertheless, I like what I had especially the "portions" part aka ALOT OF MEAT! I paid at the front counter and indicate to the lovely person behind the counter what I had. I would like to return with Hubs and perhaps my review might differ and also would love to explore the "Market" side of this establishment. 3.5 Stars! Wheat Ridge Poultry and Meats is your local connection. We visited a few weeks ago and went in separately with our masks. Forgot yours? They offered masks and antibacterial disinfectant right at the door. So thoughtful! The staff were great and super helpful. They offer everything at reasonable prices and had a few things (like jalapeno seasoned bacon, hatch chili bacon and keto bacon, ya'll) that we'll be back for again and again. They offer fresh eggs and source most, if not all of their meats and produce locally. They work with local farmers and ranchers who treat their animals humanely, grow organic produce and don't use antibiotics, hormones and GMOs (check out their website for more details). Ice cream - they're sporting Little Man ice cream flavors and the cheese curds are also local - Cream City Cheese Curds. And.... I can't wait to pick up The Village Pie Maker pies next time we're there. Such a great find! Go.... go now!

Coming from an Italian family, I am well versed in Italian sandwiches. Carmine Lornardo's the real deal! We ordered the 24" Carmine Italian. Every bite was as good as the last. My dad struck up a conversation with Carmine, who was working behind the counter as he does every day, just as his dad (according to him). We sat down at one of the 4 tables to enjoy our sandwich which was pre split for us. As we were finishing up and the lunch crowd was slowing a bit but was still steady, when Carmine stopped at our table to chat with my dad. He told us an amazing story of how their sausage and pepper sandwich was featured in Food & Wine magazine and how he found Put about it. A true Italian man living in his owned world, he was not familiar with the magazine. But that put them on the food seen. He then brought my dad his famous sausage and pepper sandwich, on the house! We came back later that week and ordered pasta with sausage and sauce for dinner which he provided as part of their dinner to go series. If I lived closer, I would never be cooking, I would just be at Carmine's for lunch and dinner! Don't sleep on this authentic Italian restaurant with old world charm.

Warning the thin pepper slices with seeds are super spicy! Like lip numbing. 4 stars - Milk bread rolls: soft and warm served in a skillet. Long curved bar downstairs and tables upstairs Midlights: - Menu categorization of some items were off: rolls and mac and cheese croquettes seem more appetizer than sides to me, - Broccolini: mostly hefty stems with some lemongrass, but done tasted woody. 3 stars - Low ceilings upstairs were a bit uncomfortable. Felt like we were on a boat and talker servers almost grazed their head. Lowlights: - Tomahawk: had multiple sizes available but only for offer the largest available which was 50 oz. They had 35 oz we could've taken. - Mochi donuts: noted as donut holes but presented as circular churros. Something about the flavor didn't work for me: bit starchy and grimey texture. 2 stars
