She treated it very aggressively as seborrheic dermatitis, with ketoconazole cream twice daily and ketoconazole shampoo every other day for 10 minutes, including use around the face. I followed the regimen closely for about a month and unfortunately saw no improvement at all. My scalp and hair also became noticeably dry during that period. At my follow-up, despite the lack of response, the conversation quickly moved toward an autoimmune workup and a fairly assertive recommendation for a skin biopsy to rule out discoid lupus. I was not comfortable proceeding without another opinion. I subsequently saw another dermatologist who approached the condition very differently, focusing on chronic inflammation and skin-barrier dysfunction rather than fungus. She prescribed a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory ointment, and within days the eyelid flaking stopped. Within a few weeks, I was nearly flake-free and even the redness and discoloration began improving. I'm sharing this because I wish there had been more reconsideration of the original diagnosis before escalating to biopsy. My experience reinforced how important it can be to get a second opinion when a treatment is not working.

However, the staff, especially the phone staff, is poorly trained, incompetent, unfriendly, and oblivious to Vivida's patients' needs. I made an appointment with Dr. Farley this past February for August 19, 2026. I waited more than 6 months for the appointment. I even asked the staff to call me if they received any cancellations so I could come in sooner due to my concerns. Of course, I never received a call, and I find it hard to believe there were absolutely no cancellations in the months leading up to my appointment. I'm a recent football mom so I spend lots of time outdoors. I *just recently* started wearing sunscreen, using a hat, and using an umbrella but the skin damage is already done. Irene was great and she took her time to help me relax and enjoy the experience. She would do this thing where she'd tap my shoulders first, and then apply lotions to my face to get me prepped for the facial. No verbal cues, just the touch. My eyes were closed most of the time so this was such a smart way to give me notice that she was going to touch my face. I wasn't ever shocked or taken aback by this sudden pressure. The procedure itself took an hour because Irene was training with an instructor and about 4 other employees were sitting in on the service. I have no issues with being a test subject. Every professional has to start somewhere and I'm glad to take part of their journey. Their instructor asked if I had any concerns and I mentioned to her that the tops of my cheeks were irritated (probably due to the changing weather). Irene made sure to avoid those areas when applying the salicylic acid. But everywhere else on my face was free game. Here's what was so special about this service. I've had facials before and I sometimes have to brace myself for pain when their instruments get closer to my nose or mouth areas. Due to the hydrafacial technology, I never once had even a small prick of pain. The machine makes loud noises but once I mentally figured out how to block it out, the rest of the treatment was smooth sailing. I don't know which boosters Irene used on me. All I know is that my skin was getting a big drink of water every time she placed the instrument against my face. It was like a very gentle sucking feeling which was surprisingly so pleasant. After Irene rendered the service she handed me a mirror and me oh my,, I felt like a brand new person. I almost didn't recognize myself. My face looked so clean, bright and youthful. My complexion looked so much more even and my pores were noticeably smaller. When my 9yo daughter saw me later that day she said I looked so different but she couldn't pinpoint what it was. I couldn't tell her it was from a hydrafacial. She's such a girly girl, she most likely would ask me to take her to get one too :/ I went to an event 2 nights later and when I applied my makeup I swear my powder looked airbrushed on. My face looked so smooth. My only regret is that I wish I asked Irene to show me what she removed from my skin.
