Stopped in for lunch today. I ordered a 12 piece boneless wings combo, curly fries were my side, and honey BBQ and "So Cluckin' Hot" were my sauces. The curly fries were fine, but nothing special. I liked the chicken with the boneless wings. So often they tend to be fried to hell, but these ones were nice, tender and juicy. Now for the sauces. So Cluckin' Hot is the real deal. Let's get this out of the way, I love spicy stuff. One Chip Challenge? Did it without batting an eye. Death Nut Challenge? Done with no long lasting impact. So Cluckin' Hot not only hits with an immediate blast of heat, but it lingers. Somehow it also has some flavor too. After four of the six wings with this sauce I had sweat pouring from my face. I can't report much on the honey BBQ sauce, my sense of tase was shot from So Cluckin' Hot. So Cluckin' Hot had a lasting impact on me. I continued to sweat for nearly 45 minute after I was done eating, and I could feel the heat in my gut for hours. I can't wait to return and try other items from the menu. read more

Stopped in today for lunch. Staff was very helpful at the front counter...her first day...she did a good job. Ordered the standard hot chicken sandwich with fries and it was very good....and very messy. I don't like messy food...as far as eating it is concerned so, I deconstructed the sandwich and just ate the chicken strips. Next time I'll have them cut it in half and be sure to grab more than 10 napkins. The Nashville hot "oil" was really good but I'm becoming more wimpy as I get older. I'm sure I was bright red and I know I was sweating....but the flavor was great. Fries were good...and a nice compliment The ONLY thing I didn't like is that the taco place (next door) delivered food to one of the employees in the "back", which you can see into because it's glass. Instead of eating it in an area away from the food prep, she ate it at the food prep table (opposite side from where the chef was)...it appeared that the two cooks had the cooking handled, all she did was hand me my food. Take 10 minutes and eat in a private area or on one of the many tables in the market. Not in the kitchen. Isn't this normal etiquette in restaurants? We ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and my wife ordered the chicken strips for take out while trying to support local and I think they may have forgot the spice... I know they have some serious spice since I stopped by for spicy Saturdays at the market. I've been wanting to try juju bird for awhile and today I finally got the chance. I decided to try their fried chicken with juju butter. Having been to South Korea and tried their fried chicken, I had high expectations. The first piece totally met them- moist and juicy with a nice crisp shell. The juju butter is sweet and adds intrigue to the meat. The last two pieces were very meh. Given they were white meat and I prefer dark, maybe that was just me. The juju butter got to be too rich after awhile. I would recommend this places, but I don't know if I would crave it often. read more

We had our wedding at the Downtown Market Greenhouse on October 1, 2022. We had a few options of caterers in the market and Juju Bird was one of our top contenders. I reached out a little under 2 years from the day and communication was a bit spotty. Looking back now, the team was probably a bit more wrapped up in the weddings happening in the current year. Once it was my wedding year 2022, communication picked up and was super quick and helpful. My main point of contact was Pan and they were super informative and able to make tweaks to our catering needs to make sure it was perfect for our day. All of the guests raved about the food and how plentiful it was! The staff was super friendly and quick to jump in and assist when needed. The presentation of appetizers was awesome as well. The catering cost was pricey but for the area + demand of wedding season it made sense + was worth every penny for all the praise we got for it. Highly recommend them as your caterer, especially if DTM is your wedding venue of choice! read more

If you're craving fried chicken this place will definitely satisfy your hunger. They serve Fried Chicken with juju butter (honey cinnamon butter). It reminded me of "Honey Butter Fried Chicken" in Chicago. You basically add the butter on top of the hot chicken and watch it melt to mouth watering goodness. The portions for the 3 piece dark meat meal is a great deal compared to what I paid in Chicago for much less meat. I tried the Nashville Hot seasoning the other day and it is very hot! Great flavor but if you can't handle more than medium spice level you might want to have a glass of milk handy. I've tried the buffalo and honey bbq wings boneless and classic and they're delicious. My son really wanted to try the sandwiches at Juju Bird. It's in the market and there's no direct seating at the counter but plenty available throughout the market. My son got the Classic and I got the Slaw sandwiches. Both are well portioned though I was surprised the chicken was strips not a breast - not a deal breaker though. I found the coating to be a tad on the peppery/spicy side so I wonder what the Nashville Hot is like. My Slaw sandwich was too messy to eat as a sandwich. A more robust bread is needed perhaps. I am a very picky eater so I very rarely find a good place with great food that I am completely happy with. Today, I tried Juju Bird and I was very satisfied with it! Customer service is good; they made sure that if I had any questions, they were happy to answer. I got the garlic parmesan wings. They are generous with sauce, the chicken is actually great quality, and the sauce is honestly the best I've tried. The wings are a great size and filling too. For the fresh and amazing quality, the food here is a deal. And then I found out their wing special? My bank account is about to be drained. I think I am now addicted. When to Downtown market looking for a good bite to eat. When I walked in I noticed it was spicy festive day. I look at the options and came across Juju Bird. Needless to say very very good food. I tried they Nashville Hot and their clucken wings. The Clucken is no joke! It's made with Carolina reapers so I would not advise to anyone who can't handle heat. Yet, the spicy sauces are still extremely balanced. They're super flavorful and balanced, expect for the spicy of course. Regardless you can really tell that the focus isn't to be spicy but to pack good flavors. I would highly recommend just wish the wings were bigger! read more

Best.chicken.ever! My husband will eat chicken wings at least once a week and his go to place has always been wing doozy but now, alllllllll that has changed. We only have tried their boneless wings but have tried all the sauces. Garlic parmesan is us hands down the best I have ever had. Nashville hot and fiya are close behind. I brought my family to juju Bird today for lunch. The flavors and the quality of the fried chicken were off the hook! We tried their Birdie Cones which is chicken and other things stuffed into a waffle cone. They nailed "texture" with this dish. One of the best things I've put in my mouth, and I will be back for another one soon. Perfect balance of sweet and salty and crunchy make it a total comfort food hit. We ended up here after discovering our top lunch choice was closed for the day, and I'm so glad we did. Though I've tried the Nashville hot style chicken sandwich from a few other places around town, including an abomination that was topped with something I strongly believe to be Krafts cheese, I haven't had had the real deal since I moved to Grand Rapids a few months ago. Taking this into account, I had little to no expectations.. So I was pleasantly surprised when I took the first bite of Juju Bird's hot chicken sandwich. The flavor profile was spot on, the breading was light but still crunchy and thick enough to absorb the hot oil which coated a perfectly tender chicken breast. I didn't get the sauce or the slaw on my sandwich because I like to control the amounts and it makes the experience less messy. The fries were seasoned well and complimented the sandwich. The service was pretty fast. Our food tasted fresh. Everything was hot which is particularly nice on a cold winter day. I'll definitely be returning to satisfy the future cravings I'm sure I'll have. read more

The fried chicken tenders were delicious- perfectly cooked and seasoned. The fries were pretty good too, but cold by the time we ate them and we only live about 10 minutes away.
