They were also very proactive about sending me detailed explanations of what to expect, how the mortgage process works, and what role each person on their team plays. They have specialists in several aspects of the process who move you along through each stage of the loan. I think this specialist, team approach was the main reason the process moved so efficiently and kept the communication so thorough and prompt. Every step of the way, there were technology tools such as electronic signature programs, online document portals and to-do-list managers to help me do my part in submitting financial info and signing important documents. Getting a loan is never easy, but these tools made it much less painful than the "old school" ways. Everyone on Julee's team was fantastic to work with throughout my year-long home buying process. The team thoughtfully and professionally took the time to answer every question I had, no matter the complexity or the basic "I have no idea what I'm doing", and explained every step of the process as we went through the different home buying stages. This was our first home buying experience and unfortunately we were referred to Julee at Guaranteed Rate. The whole experience is very impersonal and feels like it is all about money. They charged us upfront for the application fee and appraisal and sent us a bill which we paid. On our closing documents we noticed they had charged us again for the same fees we already paid and when we reached out they told us they made a mistake and undercharged us for the appraisal (I'm sure the appraisal was not what they were charging us but they don't show the bill from the appraiser) but they would cover the cost of the mistake and told us it would not be on the final closing paperwork. We received the final settlement statement and they did not remove the charge and we ended up paying for their mistake even though we had an email saying they would cover the cost. Very sneaky and very disappointing experience. We tried reaching out and they will not make it right so I hope the $150 was worth the business they lost from us in the future and anyone else we share our experience with. Bottom line, when you make an error and tell someone you will take care of it, you should follow through with that. read more

We found the perfect home while riding around the area when we walked into an open house. We knew we had to have this as it ticked all the boxes for us and we had been thinking of downsizing into just such a place. Problem was we had a house that we had to sell to get into the new home. We had no idea how to go about transitioning. Both properties were million dollar homes (not sure how that happened, but that's the world we live in today). In any event, we spoke to Julee and found out that we might qualify for a bridge loan. I never even heard of that before, but long story short, through Julee, at Guaranteed Rate, we financed both homes and were able to sell our original home pretty quickly. There was so much red tape, it was overwhelming. Julee was there every step of the way. She answered phone calls and and expedited the process to make it much easier for us. I am not sure how we would have been able to get through the process without them.
