We made a reservation for our large party of 14. Reservation was lost but they scrambled to get us seated, which was nice on a Friday at 6. We asked for 3 separate checks for our group, but our food came out per group leaving the first group to receive their food WAY ahead of the others in our party. Not so great. Drinks were missed altogether but the waiter did a fine job keeping up with all the additional requests (ketchup, dressings, more ketchup, etc. ). The food was fine but not great, honestly. Some entrees were huge while others on the small side. Too many choices for restaurants in Ashburn/Loudoun to not be top notch, so we will most likely not go back. read more

If I paid the normal price of $19, I would have liked it a lot less. The fries as a side were very good. Beautiful location. Clean. The service was slow. Our waiter seemed new. It was a long lunch. We were first-time guests at Juleps Kentucky Tavern after a friend highly recommended it, so we were really looking forward to giving it a try. We stopped in on a Tuesday for lunch and grabbed seats at the bar. The restaurant itself made a great first impression. It's bright, clean, open, and filled with natural light. Service started off well. We were greeted promptly and handed menus. Before we really had a chance to look them over, the bartender asked for our drink order. I ordered a Prosecco on tap, which was very good. My dining partner ordered a beer but had to repeat his choice twice because the bartender couldn't locate it, eventually settling on a second choice. We ordered the $10 beef tallow fries and the shrimp and grits bites to start. A few minutes later, the bartender returned with a tablet to take our order again. When the tablet wasn't cooperating, he came back with a notepad, so we ended up repeating our order for a third time. At that point, we figured we'd better order our entrées while we had the chance. My dining partner ordered the $5 lunch burger, which is an outstanding value, and I ordered their shaved ribeye and cheese sandwich, which is their take on a French dip. The appetizers took about 25-30 minutes to arrive. The $10 beef tallow fries were, at best, lukewarm, which was disappointing considering they had just come from the kitchen. The shrimp and grits bites looked fantastic and tasted very good. Unfortunately, we weren't given appetizer plates or napkins, which made eating them a bit messy since they were covered in sauce. We ended up sharing a single bar napkin. No one checked back on us during the appetizer course, so there wasn't really an opportunity to mention any of it. Our entrées also took quite a while to arrive. The burger was cooked well, the fries that came with it were hot, and my shaved ribeye and cheese sandwich was very enjoyable. We were about halfway through our meals before anyone checked on us, and that's when we were finally provided with utensils. During our meal, an older woman sat a few seats down from us and ordered the $5 burger lunch and a Miller Lite draft. She was told the bartender was too busy to change the keg. She also asked twice for popcorn and never received it before her burger arrived. I genuinely felt bad for her, so I quietly paid for her lunch. I also noticed the manager helping run food throughout the dining room, which was appreciated, but no one ever checked on the guests seated at the bar. One thing that also stood out was seeing the manager, along with a few other employees, eating popcorn from the popcorn machine in full view of guests. It just wasn't the most professional look. I really don't enjoy leaving reviews like this because there is clearly a lot of potential here. The food itself was good, the restaurant is attractive, and the prices--especially the lunch specials--offer excellent value. Unfortunately, the service simply didn't match the quality of the food on this visit. I truly believe this was just an off day, and because of that, I'd absolutely be willing to come back and give them another chance. read more

Dined for dinner on a Tuesday night. Fast initial greeting, prompt seating, and quick water service. Needed to ask for a kids menu; waited 10 to 15 minutes for the server to take our order. One server handled a large party of 10 plus three small tables, bartender kindly stepped in to refill water and check on food. The food is pretty good but the service was not that good. Let's start with the good stuff. The deviled duck eggs were good. The pork belly appetizer was excellent. Unfortunately both appetizers took 30 minutes to arrive. I guess they normally bring out corn bread muffins but they forgot to bring them until after we finished the entrees. My short rib dinner was great. Very tasty but no vegetables only meat and mashed potatoes. My friend had the catfish and it looked beautiful but he said it was too salty so he didn't eat the breading. The fried chicken was also reported to be very good but the Mac and cheese side dish only okay. Our server was in training so we forgave him bringing out sweet tea instead of unsweetened tea ( he corrected it). But I had to ask for a water refill twice and that was from the guy training our waiter. The bill for 3 people was $142 so this is not a cheap place and it was mostly empty on a Thursday night. We were headed to dinner, but randomly saw this place and decided to see if we can catch the tail end of happy hour. Unfortunately, happy hour was over, but we still decided to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. I got the last of the Sauvignon blanc (white haven), which honestly was good enough for me! But since it was the last drop, it was on the house! I've never had this type of service or hospitality before! I was genuinely so shocked and surprised! Maybe it was a marketing scheme, because of that I decided to order another glass of the other Sauvignon blanc! The complimentary corn bread was delicious and my date really loves corn bread so it was a plus for him. But we didn't want to fill ourselves up before our dinner so it was definitely a nice snack pre dinner! Loudoun Station needed this restaurant. I love the food here, the service is great and the food presentation turns the neighborhood tavern into a gastropub. My favorite item on the menu is an appetizer and it's the pork belly. It's a perfect portion to share with two people or a meal as it comes with pickled slaw. My second favorite is the fried chicken with Mac and cheese. The hot honey served is spot on. My kids are super picky and they love the meal. Their shrimp and grits are average but I don't expect the Kentucky expertise in VA. They have a solid Kentucky bourbon selection but what I believe would set them apart is if they would do a married barrel aged of their own that would have a unique experience for the truly devoted bourbon lovers. Great spot with a menu that has a ton of options. The happy hour prices were reasonable, $5 drafts and $9 starters. We started with the fried green tomatoes topped with pimento cheese, which were excellent. The pork chop was impressively thick and cooked perfectly, and the cornbread stuffing side was extremely flavorful. The chicken cutlet caesar was huge and could easily be shared. They also have a cheeseburger and fries special for $5 on Tuesdays from 11am-3:30pm. Overall, a very solid meal with generous portions and good pricing. Would definitely come back. read more

Food (4/5): We started with drinks and I thought the Old Fashioned was on point - it was sweet, but not too sweet. The fried chicken was by far the best of the three entrees we tried - we had 4 pieces of delicious fried chicken. The truffle Mac and cheese was some of the best that I have ever had! That alone was worth the visit! My only complaint was that we discovered the fries on the bottom of the bucket of chicken about halfway through the meal and by the time we got it, they were smashed and cold...I wish these were served separately in a basket and this would make this one of the best values out there. My friend had the spicy avocado burger which looked good. She got a side salad and it looked like a solid meal. My other friend got the shrimp and grits. I liked that it was "soupy" - the shrimp was great. We asked for extra corn bread (they were small little mini cornbread that came as an appetizers.) It was covered in green and red peppers, though and I am not a fan of peppers at all. Service (5/5): The server was kind. Solid 4 out 5. Good beef dishes at a reasonable price. Cornbread muffins are great. Love the brussel sprouts with bacon. The only downside is on the drinks. The Maple Pecan Julep while tasty had way too much ice in it. And for a Kentucky themed restaurant I would expect a large bourbon selection/focus that is not there. Service was excellent. We had an AMAZING experience at this new-ish restaurant. Angie, our server, was a big part of our enjoyment. When you're seated, they deliver hot cornbread muffins - so yummy! We went for happy hour with reduced price appetizers ($9 each). We shared fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grit bites. Both were cooked perfectly and would 10/10 recommend. My friend had the pork chop ($29). So glad she let me taste it as this is probably the best pork chop I've ever had and will definitely be my order next time. I had the short rib ($28) which was very tasty with creamy mashed potatoes and crispy onion straws. I felt the gravy with it was a bit too salty, but otherwise it was delicious. We also ordered green beans ($10) to share - buttery and cooked just right. My friend had cinnamon bourbon ($5) and a glass of wine ($7). I had a whisky sour ($15 which wasn't on the happy hour menu). The drinks were less of a high point than the food When we got our to-go boxes, Angie also gave us each large portions of cornbread muffins - what a lovely touch! I was visiting the Ashburn area and happened to come across Juleps Kentucky Tavern. I am so glad I decided to stop in. The restaurant is beautiful and sits right on the corner, making it hard to miss. The first thing that caught my attention was the impressive bar in the center of the restaurant with plenty of seating. I always enjoy sitting at the bar, so it was the perfect place to relax for happy hour. Gabe was tending the bar and made the experience even better. His cocktails were excellent, he knew the menu well, and he helped me choose from several dishes that all sounded great. His recommendations were spot on, and his friendly personality and attentive service made me want to stay right where I was instead of moving to a table for dinner. If you are anywhere near Ashburn, I highly recommend stopping by Juleps Kentucky Tavern. The food is excellent, the drinks are outstanding, and the service is the kind that keeps people coming back. They have a variety of seating options from booths, to bar stools, to arm chairs, and regular chairs. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. I liked how they offered us some seasoned popcorn while we decided what to order. We decided to get a few dishes and share all of it, family style. We got the hot honey bourbon wings and the wings. The sauce was unique and delicious. The fried green tomatoes were a hit for everyone at our table. Chicken and waffles were pretty standard. Short rib hash was flavorful and tender. Eggs on top cooked perfectly. The tallow fries could have been crispier, but they very well seasoned, and I couldn't stop sticking my hand in the basket for more! Visited for happy hour and so happy that I did. We sad at the bar and received great service. Restaurant is a pub-like design, very spacious, clean and ample seating. We wanted to try a little of everything and were pleased with our selections. The popcorn was a nice treat as we waited for our food. The shrimp and grit bites as well as the wings were good. But the star of the show was the short rib grilled cheese. It came with a garlic aioli which was good but I also added bbq sauce and that made it even better! The Good: The staff. They are absolute angels--polite, fast, and professional. The Bad: The food. We walked right in on Father's Day, which should have been my first clue. The short rib hash was aggressively average, and the toast came with a side of "butter" that was basically straight icing sugar. But nothing prepared me for the kids' pancakes. They were sour, doused in vanilla, and genuinely the worst thing I've ever tasted. I thought my kid was just being dramatic, but one bite left me traumatized for a solid 20 minutes. Shoutout to the server for taking it off the bill with a smile. I really hope that batter isn't the norm, but unfortunately, we won't be back to find out. This was our fourth visit and I'm glad we returned. The food has improved immensely. After the first three visits I didn't think we'd ever return but the proximity to our home can't be beat. The staff are great despite noone having more then a week seniority. I asked who was the manager or owner and the bartender said he was the manager, having been there a week. He told me the owner has several other restaurants in NOVA. What surprises me is that he or she was not on site. This location is going to be tricky to maintain if they don't pay closer attention. Black Fin was great, perfectly dependable food, big crowd draws and they couldn't survive. They should advertise more and offer kids eat free nights to the Westmoore and Metrowalk neighborhoods across the toll road. We'd love to see this restaurant stick around. read more

Tried Juleps for the first time last night. The restaurant looks great--open and well-styled. We were seated at a 2-person window table with leather club chairs, perfect for an intimate relaxed dinner and drinks vibe. Our waiter was phenomenal, perfectly attentive and friendly, knew the menu and the business. We had fried green tomatoes for appetizers, they were 4 slices, small but crispy and delicious, dolloped with a zesty pimento cheese. My dining partner got wings for his meal (Old Bay and Nashville hot sauce). 10-pieces, meaty and tasty, good size for sharing as an app or as a meal for one. I got the salmon two-ways (honey glazed and a cake) which was accompanied by a generous helping of succotash. Well cooked, good size portions, delicious light summer meal. Our waiter gave us scratch off cards to see if we won a free dessert--we didn't win. The card said "loser", we joked it was kinda harsh, and he offered us a dessert to share on the house. I was going to get the pecan pie but he recommended the chocolate cake with strawberry sauce and wow, he was right. Rich and creamy but not too sweet, the light fruit sauce balanced it nicely. We spent the next half hour just lounging and enjoying the chill atmosphere. They weren't busy so we were welcomed to stay as long as we liked. I appreciated that, since we were waiting for our kids to get out of the movies, I just hope they do enough business most nights to keep them there. Ok, been here several times. They have gotten a lot better since my first time here on opening day. The food is tastier, and finally cooked hot enough. The service has gotten better, even though it's still a bit slow. I don't know if it's a lack of kitchen staff or servers, but on Friday night it seemed that every few minutes one item would come out. It took 45 min for an appetizer. I normally don't like to leave bad reviews, but this one really needs attention. I went for dinner on April 18. The service was good, I was seated right away. The food was mediocre. I had the fried chicken with a few sides. My favorite part was the Apple pie Mason jar. On Monday. May 11th I arrived from a trip and checked their closing time via Google, which said midnight. Delighted I figured I'd give them another try and order a couple of other items on their menu. I walked into Juleps at 1015 and the host, a young man told me the kitchen closed at 9:30. He proceeded to tell me the bar was not serving any more drinks either. I told him Google has them open until midnight which he paid no mind to and stated they were closed. For clarity, on their opening and closing times I called the restaurant today May 14 to confirm their hours. The hostess answered the phone. After her going around in circles as to what time they closed, continuously pausing, sounded like she was asking people around her as to what time they were going to close today she provided a time 11. I proceeded to ask her name in which she responded, I am just a hostess here. I told her I understood that, and if she could provide her name. She stayed quiet and hung up on me. I called back and this time a young man answered the phone with hello. He did not say the name of the restaurant when answering the phone. I explained the hostess hung up on me and he too stayed silent. I told him I had asked the hostess her name and again he stayed silent. I then proceeded to tell him I could go in and talk to the manager, but I'd prefer to just confirm here. (If they were speaking the truth I do not see what the reason was for not providing a name or even getting a manager to help. Truly lacking social and customer service skills). In looking over the reviews it seems like they have quite a bit of bad ones. I would think the managers might care especially being a new restaurant. It's too bad because I was really looking forward to this new spot. We were thinking of having luncheons there for work as well. Due to their lack of professionalism, extremely poor customer service, making up their own times for service, mediocre food experience and frankly, I think they just did not want to serve me that Monday. Fabulous experience! Finally a restaurant cooking with Beef Tallow, delish food, delectable cocktails and desserts. All homemade! The Fried Chicken is authentic with a lovely crunch, side of Brussel sprouts was my favorite I've ever had served in the cutest little cast iron pan, we started with the Deviled Duck Eggs-perfection and had the Venison Meatballs as well so rich with flavor in an amazing sauce. I saw a social media advertisement and we thought we'd give it a go. They said they'd only been open a month. Upbeat and polite staff. They started us off with complimentary popcorn that had their dry rub on it. Tasty! They say it's the same rub used on their chicken wings. After 4 at tables, they serve warm cornbread with honey butter. So, so darn good! I had the Trout with cornbread dressing. My husband had the Chicken Caesar salad. Both were fantastic. Large portions seasoned well. The Chicken Caesar had a huge chicken cutlet underneath the salad. I viewed other entrees people had. Portions were generous. And their fries, OMG they looked Our waiter gave great insight into many dishes. They serve brunch as well, and have weekday specials worth checking out for sure! They will be giving local restaurants a run for sure. Reservations suggested. Plenty of seating in the bar area and adjacent community tables. For entrees, we enjoyed the filet mignon, rib eye and cheese sandwich, fried chicken, and shrimp and grits. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly, sandwich was perfect if you like steak and cheese, shrimp and grits had an interesting mix of peppers that almost gave it a fajita Cajun vibe, and the fried chicken came with so much bang for your buck- fries, coleslaw, and to die for mac and cheese.
