Since 2015 Ashlee has delivered above and beyond for me. She is hands down a master colorist and will transform your life if you opt for extensions. One of the only stylists I have ever met that can give you the inspo photo you bring to your appointment. Her schedule clashes with my work schedule and I have truly missed her as a stylist. She has done all my major transformations and I always left satisfied. Whether you are getting married, just had a baby or are finally dumping that loser you HAVE to go see her for a boost. I've been a client here for about 3.5 years, and it has consistently been a good experience. My current stylist, Michelle, is knowledgeable, professional, helpful, and friendly. I see her for the curly girl haircut, and I can say from experience that it is not easy to find a stylus who does a really great job with curly hair techniques, but Michelle does. They used low quality hair (but claimed it was REMY hair) 3. The extensions begann falling out within hours of my appointment 4. The salon refused to fix the mistakes that they made 5. I've been to this salon once and the girl who booked my appointment was very sweet and very accommodating she booked me at a time when there were no male employees or customers. but since then she stopped working there and they will absolutely not accommodate Hijabi women I've tried several times to book an appointment asking them for any accommodation even though they already have separate booths they only have to cover the door with literally anything that is opaque could be a towel for all I care she said we have no way of making the booth private I asked for a time when there were no male employees or costumers and she said we can't guarantee that. I had a wonderful experience coming to Voga Salon. I recently moved to Overland Park so I had to find a new hair salon, and this place is awesome. The only downside to coming here is the pricing. I had NEVER in my life spent over $300 on hair. Make sure you get quoted on how much you will be paying (keep in mind the 15-20% tip). First time at this salon and I will not be going back. Two stars because the cut is good even though it's not what I said I wanted. Partial highlights means random foils placed sporadically and two inches from the root. I explained to the stylist that I have to fill my gray every two to three weeks so I will have to get a root touch up on the highlights sooner because she placed them at least two inches from the root. This is disappointing considering how pricey this highlight was. I also ended up more brassy than caramel highlights so they will have to be toned. I was talked into a $27 conditioner that was supposed to be amazing. I couldn't tell it was deep conditioned. It appears that is just a pump of some product into the toner. Overall for an experienced hair stylist and the price I would have expected better results. read more

I want to start off with 1. I am not a Karen me and my boyfriend own and run small business as well. So I wouldn't ever put someone's job in jeopardy or put out a bad review just to be a bitch. 2. I am a kind sensitive soul like I don't put out bad energy and I do my absolute best to treat others how I would want to be treated. My overall overall experience first walking in was super pleasant the staff was friendly and answered any questions I had about hair deposits etc. I've never had to sign a waiver to get my hair colored, cut, treated or anything before at any other salon. So it was a red flag for me from the beginning but again maybe they just do it so it saves their butt from people who want to stir up trouble. My second red flag was, the front desk lady was well aware of the bad reviews and was aware that some of the hairdressers there do have mess ups and assured me the one I had does great work. So I went ahead and signed it and waited for my hairdresser to come get me for my appointment. Everyone and everything so far was pleasant. She took a before photo of my hair and I thought was neat and not a lot of salons offer that or even ask. When I got in the chair it was going great I was talking to Michelle who was my hairdresser. I had let her know that I was open to ideas and that I was wanting to be blonder with not as dark of roots. Maybe a heavy highlight was something we were thinking , but she also notice I was getting extensions so it kinda changed things and she went got the lady that would be doing my hair extension consultation later. Little did I know that was the store owner. Unfortunately for me, the good vibes I was getting from the beginning went right down the toilet. My hair had thinned out quite a bit from me going through early menopause and for a 23 year old women that's tough already. I take hormones and it helps a lot and I take hair,nail, skin vitamins but she wouldn't know that cause she was adamant about how my hair is going to get worse and that I'm going to have bald spots. I was already feeling bad about the fact I was getting told no but it was like the conversation wasn't ending and she wasn't holding back the demeaning way she was talking to me. It's not the fact I couldn't get the hair Extensions it was the way she was talking to. It was making me feel like crap and when I tried to bring that to her attention that I didn't like how she was talking to me that I felt like she was being a little insensitive and rude. She said I was being dramatic and and was arguing with me. I stated that I was uncomfortable and I didn't like how I was feeling. She gave absolute literally no fucks. Just kept on going like I was challenging her to argue which I wasn't and I didn't want to. Like at all. I wanted a good hair experience. That's why I came. I told her I didn't think I wanted to get my hair done and I had started to take off the black fabric that put on you to protect from fallen hair. I grabbed my things and left in tears. Before I left I went back in to get a manager and that when I was informed that she was in fact the store owner. She told me I needed to leave an threaten to call the cops. I was in hysterics because I've never been treated like that before like never. If you read the reviews there is a reason why so many people have issues with this place. Just save your money and your time and do more research before you go in just at any salon. I only came because their site was showing me different from their reviews and their instagram. I came in super happy and excited and came out humiliated and upset. She just doesn't seem like the girl you would expect to give a shit tbh. Go somewhere where the owner will be more empathetic and understanding how it might feel to be in that chair with all your cards out on the table. Update: I got my hair done elsewhere and we are close to a month of having extensions and no bald spots or anything going on with my hair. Disclaimer: This is my first review so bear with me! It is also a bit of a long story... Here goes. I recently moved to OP, KS and was in desperate need of a new colorist. I have been with my girl for almost 10 years in my hometown and was nervous for the change. I read a ton of reviews and thought Voga sounded like a great place to try out. I found out I was so right to be nervous. It went terribly! When I made my appointment I did so not ask for more than a level 1 stylist. I had Cheyenne (sp?), and she was super nice/easy to talk to. However, I came in for a root touch up and haircut and nervous/timid me was talked into a "balayage". It all went downhill from there. Cheyenne promised me that the "worst case scenario price" would be around $200 and that was before the haircut. I was shocked, but said I'd skip the hair cut and just go for the color. 3 hours later when the color was revealed- I hated it and said so. My stylist said we should just style it and I should "live in it" a little bit before I judge it too much. My hair was brown at the roots, had a tinge of orange where she slopped the brown over my former blonde and then blonde. I have had balayage before and this was NOT it. I looked worse than when I walked into the salon. For the icing on the cake my end bill came to $280 after tax. I was so upset I just paid for it and left the salon. Flash forward to that night when I couldn't stand it any longer, I called the salon to fix the problem. The receptionist was not the happiest about dealing with it, but she said to send some pictures and their master stylist would look at it. The next day the salon did call and I made another appointment to have it fixed. My appointment was with Shayna and she was amazing. She completely fixed my hair and the salon did it at no charge (I never would have gone back otherwise). I am very grateful that they went the lengths to make this right, however a recent email they sent me is what stoked the fire that made me write this review. The email stated that Cheyenne (the first stylist) was just promoted to LEVEL 1 STYLIST.. from an ASSOCIATE stylist. Wait what?? I was never told at ANY POINT during my time with Voga that I didn't even have a level 1 stylist at least. I am so frustrated in so many ways. If they are an associate- fine. Have someone check in, have them consult before coloring or at the every least you should not be charging as much as you do for their skill set. I spent a lot of time and money and wish I would have spoken up sooner. Please please, be very upfront and careful if you are new to this salon. Do your research and stick to your guns on what you want. Othewise you'll pay for it. read more

I am serious about my hair, I have spent a lot of money to maintain it's healthiness and grow it out. It's taken YEARS! I went to a different place when I first moved to KC, she didn't listen to me. I gave her my formula mix, the toner to use etc. She decided she didn't need to follow it and she turned my hair white and fried it. Cue: pissed off Anastasia! I found Voga, you can choose which stylist you want, all of their bios are listed online and they are ranked by color, haircut etc. I, of course chose a colorist who has a very high level and she is worth every penny. They train their people every quarter on new hair trends ( extensions, hair cut types, coloring) The salon itself is welcoming, trendy and open. They do not allow kids under a certain age due to people not taking care of their kids and thinking the front desk is a baby sitter. The kids then cry and annoy the rest of the customers. They run monthly specials on products and add-on's. I also love the time your stylist takes with you, if you have concerns, what did you like or not like. Is there a new hair style you want etc. they definitely work with you make you feel at home. I love going here, I love my stylist and I am so glad I found this place. I HIGHLY recommend going there and if you do let them know I sent you so we both get a referral discount ;). read more

I had been a faithful follower of Voga for about 3 years but then my favorite hair stylist, Missy, moved out of town. This salon isn't my normal vibe-- it has neon pink and zebra stripe interiors, but I loved Missy so much I kept going. The haircuts here are on the pricier side and they have a level system. The higher the stylist is the more you will pay. A high level stylist may have an assistant who colors your hair or washes your hair, FYI. read more

I LOVE Voga. The stylists are fantastic at what they do, and have passion that goes way above and beyond typical haircuts. Every time I walk in I'm greeted by one or both of the owners who make me feel right at home. I just learned that one of the owners, Armando, has a PhD in chemical engineering, so he is very particular about the hair products in the salon- none of those sneaky toxins and chemicals found in most shampoos. I relocated here from out of state and after moving, I had a terrible experience with a local salon that fried my hair and destroyed it. I was heartbroken and went home and googled "best salons in KC area" and I found VOGA. I read every review I could find (which was a lot!) and I scoped out their website and all of their services, then made an appointment for a consultation. (And so I could "screen" the salon) I showed up with hair that was a "worst possible scenerio" and within a week, I was fixed up and had a smile back on my face. The stylist I went to didn't wash my hair, she cut it dry. So no blow out or style. She just put a ton of stuff in my hair to give it "fullness" and teased it. My hair felt and looked horrible. $47 for no wash or blow out or style. A dry cut. You get more than that at Great Clips. And they make you sign an acknowledgement of their "policies". They're very full of themselves at that salon. Don't waste your time or money! read more

When I found Ashlee, my hair was broken and brittle from overprocessing. Since then, Ashlee has applied three sets of extensions on me and my hair is in the best condition of my life... I visited Voga for the first time yesterday. I was greeted and offered a drink immediately. The atmosphere is feminine and chic. I'm especially pleased that I walked into a salon and not a storefront with a salon behind it. The staff was great with no trace of pretentiousness. Tabitha's Salon Takeover ruined me! I notice everything now and I must say Voga is especially clean and organized. My stylist cared more about my personal style and keeping me authentic rather than push some new trend on me. I love that they asked my occupational setting and how much time I have in the morning. They were looking for the best fit for me. Taking some me time to get a clean cut and color is so nice. I easily got an appointment with Voga despite the holidays (which should have suggested that I find a busier place). My hair, though thick, was above my shoulders with dark brown and some heavy red highlights. The young stylist (whose name I won't mention because she was sweet) looked at 7 photos of the hair style that I though might work well with my mane. All were similar cuts and spliced highlights. I ended up looking nothing like I intended. With very little of my natural color (which is a very dark brown that I like), I instead ended with a mix of red and "honey wheat blonde" (which actually had a greenish tint). The haircut was okay, though a bit too conservative for my taste. Furthermore the stylist failed to cross check my hair so I worked a bit on trimming when I got home. When I went to check out and pay my bill, I almost collapse in horror when the receptionist stated that the total charges equaled $340.00. Unbelievable. Babe, this isn't New York, Miami, or Las Vegas. My hair, no matter where I have gone in the past, always ranges in price between $160 to $180 plus tip. Instead of arguing with the receptionist who whispered to be "I agree," I chose to pay the balance and tip $60 dollars while resolving to never ever step foot at Voga again. Shame too, since I think some of the newly minted women might have true potential. The owner Ashlee is going to end up with very few clients if she continues down the path of madness with unreasonable and ridiculous pricing. Furthermore, she is failing to take into account that I was looking for a permanent place to have my hair done and seemingly forgot that referrals can make or break a business. One of the worst hair experiences. I asked for blonde highlights and a haircut and the stylist over-dyed my hair and spent 4.5 hours trying to glaze and tone my hair back to what it was. Will never come back to this salon. Whatever you do, don't use a level one stylist they do not know what they are doing. I walked out of the salon with my hair soaking wet in a clip when my hair appt. started at 6pm and I didn't leave until after 10:30pm and the stylist didn't even have time to trim the ends of my hair! read more

She asked a lot of questions about what I was looking for style and color wise. I had gotten used to super fast ( and not in a good way) appointments because I have short hair. This appointment was delightful from beginning to end. I almost hate sharing Shaughn's name but she deserves lots of recognition because she is an excellent stylist. I was very happy about my experience at Voga salon. I have been looking for my permanent salon here for a long time and I finally found it! I would like to start with the customer service, IMPECABLE! From the moment you call until you walk out the door, the service is polite and well informed. The staff is well groomed and well dress; I walked in wearing an old tee shirt and shorts and I was still treated like a valued customer. The atmosphere itself is super trendy but not pretentious. You can tell a lot of thought and effort was well spent on the design of this salon. My stylist was Nicole. She was experienced and clearly knew what she was doing. I can be a difficult customer (see my other reviews) and even though I had many demands, Nicole was good-natured and accommodating. I got a color and a cut. Their pricing is very fair. I find at other salons the same service is a different price every time... At Voga the price is very no nonsense. As a customer I appreciate that. The staff was is so accommodating. They answer the phone after hours and they do things right. My appointment lasted until 10pm (they close at 9pm on Wednesday) yet Nicole took her time straightening my hair and making sure I was happy. Too often I feel rushed when my appoint goes over. My personal opinion, Try Voga. You won't be disappointed. read more

I have been going to Voga for about 1 year. I found the salon through Yelp. Initially, I had great experiences - totally in sync with the Yelp reviews. In March 2015, after one really awful haircut, the manager switched me to a different stylist who repaired the damage. Again, great haircuts for the next few months. Then in July 2015 my haircut lost its shape within 2 weeks. So I returned for another cut. My stylist claimed that my hair grew too fast. I can't afford to have my hair cut every two weeks. I managed to stretch out the interval to 6 weeks. Thought I would have plenty of hair for my stylist to work with. My last haircut was on Friday. I was very explicit about the type of cut I needed, and said that I even had photos of my sister with the haircut I wanted. My stylist said that she didn't need the photos. And when she was done, I knew the cut wouldn't work. I told her that the layers were too long, especially the top. And that the bangs were way too long. She seemed to fix the problems. But the next morning, when I tried to style my hair I discovered that she had simply hacked away randomly at my hair. Uneven in every dimension. One side was a full inch longer than the other. And all my lovely curls and waves had disappeared in a shapeless mass of hair. I called the salon in tears. After two calls and 10 minutes on hold each time, I was finally connected to a manager. She told me that I was a difficult client, and essentially fired me after offering to refund the cost of the haircut. I have spend LOTS of money on haircuts and more and more products recommended by my stylist - none of which worked. My stylist's only comment was that my hair seemed to be losing its curl. Not so - I was able to find an alternative stylist. For under $20, she restored my hair's shape, curls, and waves. read more

I never do reviews unless I can better a future customers experience. Saturday was my daughters junior homecoming, we couldn't get into the salon we went to last year to do her hair and makeup (costing $75 including $10 tip) so my daughter called and got in with Voga seeing it's a block from our house worked great and they got us in with a three days notice. My daughter was gone a total of 45min come home and she looked stunning with makeup and long loose beach curls ( not even a full updue), I didn't ask the cost when she got home but just looked at my statement and saw a $144 charge I thought no way someone had to of mistyped gratuity or something! Nope it was $134 and my daughter tipped her $10 because she didn't know what else to do and didn't want us to be upset for costing so much. I could see this price on a bride maybe with a consultation prior but a 16yr old for homecoming is ridiculous! They should have "dance pricing" and she was only in there a max of 35min! I pay $150 for my hair to get cut/highlight and it takes 3hrs! So if you want good hair and makeup and don't mind the cost this place is for you otherwise heads up read more

Wanted to love this place but can't. Have had two different ladies a few different times apply lash extensions and neither one knew how to do them correctly. My eyes were horribly irritated and I've had extensions done at another place prior with no problems. It was so uncomfortable to have them done here, my eyes would burn and itch and when I said something to the stylist, she did nothing. I would then get up and look in the mirror and my eyes were completely blood shot and bright red and they would last that way for about 3 days. The lash extensions them selves were not glued on properly because they would snag and be easily pulled off by the wand of the lash extender serum (which they swore would make the lashes last longer - another $50). The $250 full set literally lasted about 9 days before I had to go back to get them filled because I could count how many lashes were on each eye. They didn't look natural either. There were clusters of lashes on one lash and then some single lashes. Some of them crisscrossed and turned over and upside down and would poke me in the eye. When I tried to fix these lashes by simply stroking them upward lightly with the wand that was given to me for this type of issue, at least 3 or 4 lashes would come off. I did everything they told me to do and didn't use any makeup on my eyes or rub my eyes and they still didn't last more than a week and a half at best. And to top it off, I began having an allergic reaction about 2 days after my last fill- the area around my eyes started to break out in a rash and my eyes were red and itchy- so I called and the stylist told me should would recommend I get them removed immediately but noted that she would have to speak with the owners to see if she could take them off me without having to charge. I have spent close to, if not more than, $700 in the last 3 months at this salon just on eyelash extensions and they wouldn't even take them off for free when I'm having an allergic reaction to their product? Ridiculous to me. I've really tried to give this place a chance but I will not be giving them any more of my business and I will not recommend them to anyone. read more
