Most people around me could not detect my insecurities, my neuroticisms, my miscalculated responses with interactions (with friends, peers, strangers). Julie did. She's the only therapist I have ever worked with who sees and feels my truth. (I have been seeing therapists since I was in my 30s, in the early 90s). The difference with Julie is that her responses are directed to the feeling I'm having, she doesn't respond to my words. You see, I have always used words and stories to cover up what I really want/need to say. I have used words to cover up what I'm really feeling. Julie hears the emotion in my words and in my body, and listens with insight to what I have to say. She responds and builds our session by listening to the feeling of my words and body, not what I think I want her to hear. There are many of you reading this who know exactly what this means. I'm exposed (thankfully). Nothing is hidden (finally). She doesn't need for me to tell the truth, or the whole truth, because she listens to the emotion that is delivering my words. She watches and listens to my body that expresses the truth for me. My sessions with her (since 2008) have been grueling, blissful, difficult and life changing. I am not the person I was last month, a year ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago. Thankfully, my body is not the same either. Old wounds that we've worked on are now extinct wounds --I have regained mobility, chronic pains have vanished, and new wounds heal faster.
Her copious insights, her genuine caring, her keen sense and sensibilities --have given me a life worth living. Her incessant watchful eye, her empowering demeanor, has given me permission to be me. Together, we are uncovering, unraveling childhood trauma that caused/es my misdirected responses, my neurosis, my projections. Thus, the drama in my life is less --as well as the triggers that used to cause excessive fear, anger, and depression. I am still working with Julie, the evolution of ME is in progress. My changes have positively developed my business, my relationships, my day-to-day happiness and love of life. Thank you, Julie. One more thing-- those of you with a discerning eye will understand this --that she is the only therapist I've worked with who isn't triggered during our sessions. Her duty to observing me is a constant. I'm glad she is now on Yelp, so that others can find her, work with her to find their sense of self. read more
