He is very careful to obtain permission before doing work or ordering parts. When ordering parts, he gives you a price comparison of options, and will recommend a cheaper part if he thinks it will work just fine. He will also recommend a cheaper option to consider: For example, our 2002 Montero was not passing smog; in lieu of replacing the catalytic converters at over $2K, he suggested the option of a fuel injector service and catalytic converter cleaning could do the trick. He was open about not guaranteeing it would work. As it turned out, his plan did work and the 'Check Engine' light went off and the vehicle passed smog. He communicates quickly via text message. I first met Julio 26 years ago when he was working as an Oil Change service writer at One Stop Lube N Brakes in Torrance. He was so helpful and knew what he was doing & talking about at that shop. Every time I would go in to get my oil changed, Julio always pointed out to me what needed to be checked & done on my car. Julio has a way of explaining things that most people Can Understand. From my point of view, Julio was the best & most caring employee in that One Stop Lube N Brakes shop. A few months ago, I found out that Julio opened his own auto repair shop so when my van would NOT start last night, I had the van towed to Julio's Auto Repair this morning. Julio had 2 cars on his lifts. He finished repairing those 2 cars in a very short amount of time and started looking at my van. Julio spent about an hour investigating the problem on my van and found that the problem was a Burned Out Fuel Pump Relay. The speed at which he found the problem showed me how intelligent Julio is. He switched the fuel pump relay with the air conditioning relay which were the same type of relay, when he did that the van started up! Julio handed me the burned out fuel pump relay and told me to go to the dealer and buy a new relay. Julio told me that they are about $20 at the dealer. Julio then showed me where the New relay goes and how I can install it myself. He then Charged Me A Very Reasonable Price for the time he spent on my van. There is NO other Auto Repair Shop in Torrance that would have done that for me! Julio Auto Repair is the only repair shop that I am going to use from now on. Julio used to work for One Stop Auto at the Corner of Crenshaw and Sepulveda, at Kims place. Then he was a good manager and a Mechanic, also worked on my wife's car that we took it regularly beside the fact, that Ricks Auto was next door, asking us to bring the vehicle for service. We have a Electric issue with the back trunk, not opening and Julio said he ca fixed it, and he did. Unfortunately after 6 months, we find out that trunk wire harness he soldered didn't get soldered properly and the convertible top would not work. By then he had opened his own shop, and I did the brakes prior to visiting his shop, and he opened the tape he fix the harness and soldering fell right in front of my eyes. Now came the issue, that we paid to fix the trunk latch is no longer working, if he had solder it correctly the soldering should have stayed intact, besides the convertible top was not working now the trunk was not opening as well. He refused to fix his own soldering, and when I got the parts to be replaced, he said to fix $200, then ask for $480, as we had already fixed the same issue for another $400 prior. He is not a honest machinic, and I would stay away from him. I understand he made a mistake, well correct it, or just tell that you can't doit, don't undo something you did prior and charge me again to fix the same problem, because you didn't properly fixed it, but your employer at the time sure got paid. Poor business practices and I would never go to that place again, stay away from his shop. read more
