We saw many good reviews about this restaurant so we went on a weeknight. The staff was mostly friendly. The menu is decent, but the food is mediocre. I read one review where the person liked the steak so much they ate it a few times. This prompted me to try the steak and I found it to just be ok and nothing more. The grilled potatoes that came with it were better. I tried to ask the staff how they prepare the steak and the language barrier made it really tough. I wanted to know if it was made over fire or on a flat top grill, etc. The gazpacho was decent. Their wine list is horrible. There also only seemed to be one person who spoke English the night we went, which made it very tough to ask questions (wanted to know about preparation, seasonings, cooking method etc). It's an ok place, probably more suited for a basic palate or basic desire in food. read more

Had really nice food here today with my hubs. We stopped in around 2:30pm today and it was already busy which is a good sign. I found the prices fair considering the touristy neighborhood and interior decor. The menu has English translations as well as other languages. My husband ordered the traditional sausage with white beans and roasted red peppers - about €7.90 if so recall- whilst I ordered the surtido of tortillas- potato, mushroom, courgette and spinach (€8.50). We were both quite pleased with our dishes in terms of taste and portion size. He really liked the sausage length (haha) and flavour and he's picky on sausages! The beans are stewed to a soft texture and flavored nicely with olive oil which he appreciated. My assortment had 8 (!!) thick slices of tortilla. I have a crappy picture attached which doesn't do the taste justice. The potato was surprisingly my favourite with its buttery taste and excellent texture (I usually find them so bland), mushroom second, then spinach and finally the courgette (a bit too eggy for me). Was starving after getting into Barcelona late. Friend and I went on a hunt for food, found this place that looked super cute, 4.5 stars on yelp, okay let's take a chance. Mistake. (I need to learn to look at number of reviews as well, not just the average rating.) Greeted immediately, sat immediately. Restaurant was empty; that should've been the first clue but we shrugged it off. Ordered jamon Iberico plate. Server recommended we ordered bread with it. We did...bread wasn't great. Ordered the lamb chops to share. Most expensive lamb chops ever, and barely any meat on them. Ordered assorted croquettes to share. They never tell you what the assortment is, but the croquettes were at least good. We both ordered water, no wine. Total was roughly 53€. Definitely not worth it...they need to step it up food-wise. I'm so sad we went here for one of our few meals in Barcelona. read more

We we're looking for a quiet restaurant near the hotel and found this cosy old fashioned restaurant. You enter thru a bar and there is dining room in the lower level. Low ceilings, lot's of brick and stone like an old wine cellar. Popular with tourists and started to get crowded by 8:30. Waiter did not understand much English and was in a rush but menus are in English. I got the sausage with white beans and peppers. The sausage reminded me of Trader Joe type sausage only a little longer and a bit overcooked. The peppers we're probably from a jar and warmed up. The assorted croquets we're good. One had a fishy taste, another cheese and another with ham. The tuna was a small thin slab of fish served along with those peppers from a jar and bland mixed veggies. House Rose 1/2 liter was very good and cheap. Seating is uncomfortable and a couple of tourists on the larger size sat down and then walked out. The building is very old and the floor and walls are crooked so it may feel like you are leaning to one side and its not just from drinking too much wine. Prices are reasonable but not sure if I would recommend this place. If you like the rustic look and homey, reasonably priced food then this place is fine. read more

I was looking for a authentic Catalan place to go and this is just perfect! No tourist there all locals. Their inside is very cool, has a historical feel. We order the trip capacio, tomato bread( must order)! Cheese and ham plate, steaks annnnnd pig feet! Pig feet is my fav and you know this is authentic as no tourist is eating pig feet of course besides this Chinese one. Price is cheap, waiter is super friendly. Overall just perfect! This was the best meal I had on my entire trip to Spain. Everything was perfect- food, service, and ambiance. You can not go wrong with anything you try, but my favorite was the baby broads with ham and the Catalan sausage with beans and peppers. The food was ok but the server spoke no / very little English, we speak some spanish, so it was difficult to order. I asked him what ingredients were in the sangria and he told me pitcher, so this nice couple next to us asked in Spanish and he said in pitcher. There was one person who was fluent but politely told me she was not my server. I do not want to see like the ugly American, but if you are in the service area, in the most tourist place I have seen, you have to be able to communicate in English. Many other places do. Our servers in NYC, Miami, and many other large cities I have been to speak Spanish. I did not think our server was very good and certainly did not put in an effort. Our hotel Novel recommended them, I suggest they take them off the list. read more

Just off Rambles but as authentic as it comes. This little restaurant is steps from the tourists but seems like I stepped into a village outside Barcelona. Try the manchego cheese to start and the sausage for dinner and the truffle chocolates for dessert. We loved this place and came back another time. Yum! read more

This place is so cute and so delicious and the staff is so cool. They gave us a shot of schnapps at the end of our meal....do they know we're good like that? They must. I was in serious need of manchego and wanted some bread and olive oil and the sangria made with cava was super delicious. I even bought some little glasses as a souvenir to remember our fabulous lunch. I love Barcelona! read more

This place has great local dishes and a great place for large groups. Although we had a great time and food delicious it wasn't very comfortable. We were a party of 6 and we were sat down on a corner where another large group was already sitting. We had to squeeze in and out of our chairs when there was plenty of room to sit us on the other side. The restuarant was very hot inside too. read more

Small restaurant. There are lots of restaurants for the tourist in the area but this one is only the recommendation by local. Casual, servers are friendly and food was good. We tried Hamon at many restaurants, and this place served best one. They make a Pan con tomato on the table to let us know how, then we make more by ourselves. This is unique and fun! read more

Came across this place with my girlfriend while walking to the restaurant we had a reservation at for our anniversary. The ambiance was really nice, the food great for a surprisingly low price, and we really loved the waitress' enthusiasm in explaining about traditional Catalan meals. Tonight was my second time here. It is a wonderful little place located near Las Rambla. The service and the food was excellent. Tonight I had a salad with anchovies and than sausage with white beans. Although that was enough I saw too many yummy deserts heading out to other tables so I had to try the chocolate mouse. We were searching for a good Catalan experience, and we found it here. The wait staff was very helpful, and restaurant itself was very charming inside, and the food was super good. We had the house wine, and it was very good (and we drink a LOT of wine :-) ). I can recommend it if you want to stay away from the heavy tourist traffic like us. read more

Stopped by here after watching FC Barcelona game, great food and drinks. Service was little slow because it was very busy but staff did everything they could. You should try this place rather than typical tourist spots on Main Street. read more

We were only in Barcelona for five days, and we certainly ate lots of good food, but this was easily the best meal. We began as a group of three, but were joined late by two friends and the lovely waitstaff accommodated us with good humor. Started with a bunch of dishes, including the typical Catalan roasted bread with tomato, Carpaccio de bacalao, Escalivada con queso de cabra (various roasted veg, served cold and dressed with a fat slice or two of goat cheese, gently sugared and caramelized--sounds terrible, but was delicious!), and Rúcula y queso parmesano. Followed by mains: Butifarra con judías (sausage with perfectly buttery and subtly seasoned white beans), Costillas de cordero a la brasa (perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned slim loin lamb chops), and Pollo a la brasa. Accompanied by a sangria de cava, too sweet for some of us, but exactly right to others in the group. Desserts and coffee were only good, apart from the house-made chocolate mousse--outstanding, not too sweet. Atmosphere was equally enjoyable--excellent warm service, rustic without being fake. Very conveniently located, right off La Rambla close to Placa Catalunya, without feeling touristy at all. When I go back to Barcelona, I will certainly return for another meal. Very good tapas. The decor is very rustic ... it had charm. We went with much of the waiter's recommendations since we speak English and the Catalan waiter did not. He started us off with a plate of cured meats -- all except the 'cold cut' looking selections were delicious. We ordered a 1/2 liter of their house wine, which was very reasonably priced. We then had a more substantial meat entre and the foie gras, both of which were remarkably good. My wife and I shared a Tartufo-like dessert and couldn't have been happier. The bill came in around €54. The waiter told us that tips ARE NOT included in the prices in Spain ... not sure about that one ... we left him €5 just in case. read more
