Manager Larry runs his business with a very "Sorry if you get screwed, but that's the way the jumper crumbles" kind of attitude. The website says you must cancel 24 hours in advance, so we honored our commitment to the rental, even though rain was in the forecast. The contract also says you may not cancel in a 24 hour period. We called to ask if the jumper would still be usable in the rain and were assured it would be. Ummm. There was NO way any kid could go in that thing--it was super slippery and soggy. I called after the party (our first time ever renting a jumper) to ask if, in good faith, they would consider giving us a discount on any future rentals. I specifically said, like 10 bucks off, just a gesture of good will. I was not asking for a refund or an exorbitant discount. They scoffed and said it was worse for them that they had to deal with soggy jumpers. So shame on us for being so trusting and for holding up our end of the bargain and not cancelling on them. Larry said we should've cancelled when the driver showed up with the jumper, and I said, "I thought we were being the good guys by not giving your business the shaft and cancelling last minute!" But just so you know, if you rent from this place, and the weather looks bad, go ahead and cancel at the last minute if you want. There's nothing they can do because they run the business as a Cash On Delivery. I guess they don't mind getting screwed because they don't mind screwing you. By the way--check out the several other 1 and 2 star reviews. Clearly customer service is not their strong suit. Update: This is the owner comment posted on 4/14/11 admitting they threatened to sue me for $5,000 if I didn't remove my review. I do not respond to bullying or threats and kept my review up to warn others. And the First Amendment protects reviewers from being sued because here in the USA, we are free to express our opinions. I gave this business two stars because: -Selection is good -Reservation process easy -Prices decent -Equipment clean and as-expected I took away three stars because: -LATE!!! -Poor driver communication and etiquette -Inadequate set-up -LATE AGAIN!!! I wanted to use Jumping Jacks Jumpers because of their excellent score on Yelp. When I called, they recommended Jump 4 Joy, their "sister" company. I thanked them for the referral, with trepidation. I really, REALLY wanted to use JJJ. But I went ahead and called J4J. The reservation agent was knowledgeable and efficient. We rented a basic bouncy castle, cotton candy machine and hot dog roaster. I felt the pricing was good at $208 COD, including delivery, for all day on a Saturday (9:30 AM-6:00 PM). Very little pain at this point in the process. I received a confirmation call on the Wednesday before the Saturday event, reviewing details and promising delivery by 9:30 AM for an 11:30 AM event. So far, so good. Saturday arrived. The driver called around 9:30 AM to say he was running a little late. He said he'd be to our house at 10:00 AM. 10:00 AM arrived. No show and no call from the driver. At 10:15 AM, I called J4J and asked what was going on. The person who answered called the driver, who called me and promised to arrive by 10:45 AM. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. 10:45 AM arrived. No show and no additional call. I used caller ID and called back the driver's cell phone. He said he had had "problems" at his first delivery and wouldn't be at our house till 11:00 AM. I pressed and asked where, exactly, he was. He said he was on 680, near San Ramon. I live in central Fremont. Not good. I know if there is NO traffic it's a 25 minute drive from where he claimed to be. That put his probable arrival at 11:10 AM. At this point, I was really angry. 11:15 AM rolled around, 15 minutes till party start-time. No driver. No call. I called him, furious. He said he was turning into our neighborhood. He asked how to get to our house...which only served to make me more mad. Hello, Google Maps?! Print it out and take it with you! Finally, at 11:20 AM, J4J arrived. To their credit, it only took 10 minutes for them to set up. The equipment was clean and as-expected. My one complaint about the set-up: they didn't anchor the bouncy castle! I didn't notice till they were gone, unfortunately, and the castle slid all around the lawn. Oh, well. Their oversight didn't prevent us from using it, thankfully. When I paid the COD to the driver, he stood there with an expectant look on his face when I told him there was $210 in the stack of bills. I had noted in the contract that he highlighted and circled "DRIVER TIPS APPRECIATED!" I was so mad that I was on the point of refusing payment...and there he was acting like I owed him a tip. Talk about adding insult to injury. I confirmed that he'd be back between 6-7 PM for pick-up. I'm not going into the details, but you can imagine my irritation when I had to call him at 7:30 PM and ask where he was. He finally showed at 8:00 PM. Whatever. How could they have made this transaction right? -Driver could have apologized profusely, he said sorry only one time, I think. -They could have given me a discount. -Someone could have called the next business day to see how it went and get feedback, maybe offered me a discount on another rental. read more

I'm usually reluctant to give 1 star yelp reviews just in case my poor experience was a one time thing but after reading Michelle C's it looks like it wasn't. Honestly, I would give them 0 stars if I could. Like Michelle C, I wanted to use Jumping Jacks Jumpers who referred me to Jump 4 Joy. After speaking with the reservation agent, I was excited to surprise the children at my summer camp on their last day of camp with the great jump house that Jump 4 Joy had set me up with. Welp, surprise ruined when the truck driver showed up 35 minutes late just in time for the kids to see him blowing up the jumphouse. Oh well, kids go nuts for jump houses, they were beyond ecstatic. Well, they were NOT ecstatic when the jump house began deflating on them while inside jumping! Just a minor bump in the road I thought, it looked like the hose from the generator inflating the jumper came a little loose. We tied the rope a little tighter and continued jumping. Oh wait, 15 minutes later it deflates again? Weird. Unsafe. A huge liability. I call and ask to speak with a manager as I am understandably a wee bit frustrated that for the second time in the 30 minutes the jumper has even been there, it has deflated again with children inside! I am told the manager will call me back with a solution. I don't get a phone call back from the manager, but from the driver who suggests I just "duck tape the thing." Hmm...not the solution I was looking for. Finally, I get ahold of the manager who suggests I find a rope and tie the hose a little tighter because "maybe the spring on his rope is just broken" and assures me its not big deal. Yikes. I reluctantly take his advice and tie the rope tighter. And as you may have seen coming Yelpers, the jumphouse deflates again. So I'm done with this thing. I am very upset and I call the manager back and ask him to immediately remove his jump house from our property. It has become a liability, a danger to the children and a nuisance rather than a joy. He tries to convince me that it is not really a big deal and that I AM overreacting and even throws in a few earmuff worthy words. Finally we decide that because it is 1:00 and he is an hour and a half away he might as well come at 4, the scheduled pick up time and although this is not exactly what I wanted, I was just satisfied to have come to an agreement and end this. 4:00 rolls around. 4:30 rolls around. It's now 5:00. Its now 5:30. It's now 5:45. The driver finally rolls up with no apology. I have been sitting around since 1:00 waiting for someone to deal with this!!! I would NEVER EVER recommend someone to use Jump 4 Joy for their party. Between the TERRIBLE customer service, the HORRENDOUS time management shown by the driver&manager and, oh yea, the fact that the JUMP HOUSE DIDNT EVEN INFLATE PROPERLY, it was a terrible end to a summer. read more

I rented a Castle bouncer to go with my daughter's Beauty and the beast themed Birthday party. The process was all very easy. I had meant to do it on line but because I had some questions I called their 800 number. The woman who answered the phone was very sweet and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. They also threw in a free game. We picked the over sized boxing gloves which were tons of fun for us adults. I reserved my bouncer about 2 months in advance (mainly because i worrier) so 2 weeks before our party I called them to A. make sure all was good to go and B. to remove the snow cone maker from my order. The lady who helped me was once again very sweet and helped reassure me that all would be taken care of. As a matter a fact they called me the day before to reconfirm my order with me (which made me feel great cuz once again I'm a worrier/control freak) The day of the party they showed up super early which wasn't a problem but it threw us for a loop because we had planned on paying cash (because if you pay w a credit card they have a credit card fee of a few bucks) They were very nice and even waited for my husband to run to the bank (took at least 30 mins) The jumper itself was clean and safe so kudos to them. I wish i had known that the driver/delivery personnel accept tips ahead of time because I definitely would have tipped them. As far as the pick up went, I'm assuming we were the firststop on their route hence the last stop of their day. I believe they picked up later than they told us they would but once again that wasn't an issue. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I referred Jump4Joy for my nieces 3year old birthday party and thankful my sister called to confirm this weekend. To our surprise the guy I guess Larry told her I tried calling you the other day, I'm not doing Berkeley anymore. Huh????? Clearly your website states We service the entire San Francisco Bay Area. Devastated because of course this is last minute we give a call back and he repeats himself and adds "I don't have to tell you where I'm going this weekend, I tried to call you!" And he hung up in her face! BEWARE this business may be great if you use them but if he has "plans" there's no backup and you may be without the main entertainment for kids. Please think twice before you use this company for your party needs. We have had a very bad experience with them. First - they arrived an hour and 20 minutes after our confirmation time, 20 minutes into my daughter's birthday party. This meant, after setup, the jumpy house wasn't ready for the children until ~40 minutes after the party started - way too long for a group of impatient four year-olds to wait. Second - the jumpy house itself was and dirty wet as a previous renter had left it out in their yard. Installer did his best to clean it, but it was still pretty dirty. Third - the installer - who was actually pretty nice and apologetic - drove the stake that holds the jumpy house down through my main water line. We had to call an emergency plumber to fix our water line. I have left a message with the owner to discuss twice, and he has yet to call back. Extremely poor customer service overall - we would never use again. read more

I ordered a Spongebob jumper for my son's Spongebob birthday. I requested it to be delivered for 12pm, to give me a cushion for a 2pm party. At 8:30am that morning, the driver called and said that there was no Spongebob jumper and asked if we're okay with a replacement that's the same jumper, just no theme. I wasn't okay with it because that's not what I paid for. I called the 1800# and the lady was very apologetic and after she talked to the owner, they upgraded us free with a 20x20 combo jumper for FREE, SCORE! And they deducted $20 from my bill. The only other gripe I have is that the driver was late, he didn't come until 1:45-2pm, which I guess was okay given the party was starting at 2pm, but had my party started truly at 12pm, then it would have been horrific. My best tip would be give yourself a few hours cushion for your party since time seems to be an issue with other reviews. However, you can't beat the price here. I've rented tons of jumpers, and this one is $99 for a standard jumper, plus a popcorn machine and one game (summer special). Not bad at all! The driver and lady that I talked to were pleasant and apologetic and when she said, "the owner feels bad..." I believed her since they totally made up for the mess up. read more

Ok so I had a little three yr old excited about her upcoming birthday. Sure enough she wanted to have a birthday party at that bounce-a-roma place and when i looked at their prices i was shocked....Anyhow, as my husband and i sat and pondered what our options were to give her a great party along with a bouncy house, we looked on the internet and found Jump 4 Joy. My daughters request was Sponge bob..Yep that yellow squared cartoon character on Nickoldeen. So I called Jump 4 joy to find out what a deposit was going to be for a bouncy house and what i needed to to. When i called i spoke directly to the owner of this business and he told me there is no deposit and that all i needed was to give him my order and what date and the location.. Of course the reg questions of type of location and weather it would be on rocks, grass or cememnt. I made my order! When i went to show my mother what I had ordered for my daughters birthday party I noticed that we got a free rental or a popcorn machine and a carnival game. I did call back and they glad assisted me with the choice of a carnival game and updated my order with no questions. About a wk later noticed that i needed to order chairs for the party and did so and they again gladly updated my order. WOW low and behold 3 days before the party we no longer needed the chairs as family provided the chair for the 60+ event. They again gladly updated the order and had no problem.. On that Saturday morning they arrived early and which was fine with us...We were excited that they showed up at the time they did cause known my planning nothing happens right. Well it did, my daughter showed up an hour later with her aunt and immediately started her jumping. The bouncer was scheduled from 11-7 (8hrs) and she got to jump for over 9 hrs...YEAH!!!!!!.... We had NO problems with the bouncy house! We even had no problems with the pop corn machine or the carnival game which was the golf putt. I did notice that when they brought the pop corn machine it had the popcorn/butter mix which we had not order. I did explain this to the driver which happen to be the owner and he said no worries keep it and enjoy. Long story short. I AM VERY PLEASE WITH THERE SERVICE! I am not sure why people have had so many complaints. I have been ordering jumps for atleast 3years now for my little nephew's birthday parties and other events like superbowl (it's great for keeping the kids distracted). I have spoken with Jamie and Larry, the owners, over the phone and they are always very courteous. The drivers are very helpful and will setup your jumper anywhere you want. My drivers have always been on time, and if they have been a little late, I know that it is because they had other jobs, which is why they request that you schedule your drop atleast an hour in advance. If your party starts at 12, then schedule your drop for 11, not 12. read more

We just used Jump 4 Joy for a bounce house rental. We chose them after yelp reviews on other companies suggested we check the better business bureau. Jump 4 Joy had an A+ rating, so despite the lack of reviews, I went with them. They were very helpful on the phone and called to confirm the Friday before our event date. The jump house arrived clean and looked great and the kids had a great time. The delivery person was professional and called before he came. Delivery was very early too so we didn't have to worry about whether or not it would arrive in time. (We just said to arrive before 11 and he came at around 9. If you have a more limited time frame I would specify that when you call to book.) The smallest size worked for our party of mostly under 8 year olds. I rented a obstacle course and jumper from Larry and they where do efficient! He called and made sure if we needed anything to feel free to call him! The day before the party we had to change the order and Larry did it no questions asked he was nice friendly and helpful! When it was delivered he was on time and told me the what the best place to set up will be! We also got the 2 tables and 20 chairs which is a steal for the price! I must say I was hesitant to use this company but, the price and selection were right so I took the risk and ignored the prior reviews. I am glad we did. for $250 we got a 4 in 1 bouncer, popcorn maker and supplies and spin art machine and supplies for 8 hours (really 10 as they came early to set up). Had no problem with set up, everything was clean and ready to go and had good contact with their office and with the set up and take down person. We've been ordering bouncy houses for my twins birthday every year. This year we used Jump4Joy because I could arrange it all online and I was out of town before the party. The party started at 10:00 a.m. and delivery was between 7:00-9:00 a.m. They didn't show up until 11:45. I had also asked to keep it over night for the $40.00 fee. The forgot and then wouldn't let me keep it as I'd promised my kids. I was not offered any discount for the late delivery. It was very hard to keep that many kids entertained for so long when I had not anticipated we'd be playing indoors for almost 2 hours without a bouncy house. We used for Jump 4 Joy for our school carnival in May. While setting up the reservations was easy and the woman who I spoke with on the phone was VERY nice and helpful, the CUSTOMER SERVICE the day of the event was TERRIBLE!! They arrived late and didn't have the 2 generators we had paid for (only had one). The drivers complained to everyone they could find about what a pain our school was. They did not bring the carnival games we had been promised, the cotton candy machine and hot dog machine were both filthy! Larry would not return my phone calls or emails after the event to discuss getting a credit for the missing items and the late arrival. He simply said (the day of the event as I'm scrambling to figure out where my rentals are) they were late b/c of traffic and it wasn't his fault. Even had the principal of the school try to contact him and she had no luck either. Terrible customer service and "We don't care if we screw up your entire event" attitude! We went to a birthday party yesterday where J4J had a bounce house, popcorn machine, sno cone machine and cotton candy machine set up and it was wonderful! This family called J4J after I had recommended them. I help run a school carnival each year and last year was by far the best carnival jumpy house area ever! We had used many different jumpy house companies in the past with horrible experiences of them showing up late, dirty equipment, etc., much to the disappointment of hundreds of children. Last year we "tried" J4J and we will never use anyone else ever again. Owner Larry himself delivered our 5 jumpy houses and dunk tank, set everything up by himself by 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. carnival. For the first time EVER the jumpy houses were waiting for the kids, not the other way around! Every one of us on the carnival committee agree that Larry is the only jumpy house guy we will ever call again. He can just put our school on the books every year for quite some time! I would give this company a negative star if I could. Do NOT EVER rent from this place! They are horrible and so unprofessional. I ordered a jump house for my grandson's 4th birthday party and the jumper NEVER SHOWED!!!! I called them several times and they never answered and after about the 3rd time calling, I left a voicemail message. I never received a call back, mind you this was about 15 mins after the party was to start. About 15 mins after I left the voicemail and hadn't got the call back, I called them again. I finally got someone and they said the driver was having an issue at another location and it should be there any minute. Well it's now 3 days after the party and it still hasn't shown up! I continued to call and call, I would say 25+ times, even some of my relatives that were at the party tried calling and they would not answer. I could not even leave a message because well "their voicemail was FULL!!!" REALLY?!?!? As I said, to this day, the jumper never came, I never received a phonecall to apologize or even try to explain why it never showed. This totally ruined my grandson's birthday party as he knew that we ordered a jumper for him. It was very sad to see the disappointment on his face when we finally told him the jumper wasn't coming. It's funny how they want YOU to abid by their contract but what about when THEY don't abid by the same contract and don't follow through with what THEY are suppose to do? So unless you want a dissappointed child due to a jumper not showing up, do NOT EVER rent from this company!!! read more

This is my first time writing a review on yelp, and my first time renting a bounce house. I, also like the previous reviewer, called multiple places to host my 5 year old daughters bday party, and the prices were outrageous. So I looked online on google on where to rent a bounce house in the bay area, and jump4joy is the first company to pop up. I call them and to my surprise within 5 minutes, I have a dora bounce house booked, along with a free popcorn machine, and a carnival game. Since this was my first time calling for a bounce house, I decided to call a few other places, and to my astonishment the first place I called, was actually the one with the best rates, $119 for a bounce house, popcorn machine, popcorn, carnival game, and delivery. On top of that if you mention YELP you get a $10 discount, so everything I listed about for just $109. Since I have already order a ton of food for my daughters bday, a popcorn machine will not be of much use to us, Larry kindly enough allowed me to subsititute chairs and tables in place of the popcorn machine. Larry and Jamie have been very accomodating to me, and every time I made an adjustment, a confirmation receipt was quickly sent to me via email. So far i've been very happy, I will be receiving my jumper this Saturday, and will update you all with how it went. BTW, I too read the reviews and got nervous, but as of yet, I have nothing to complain about! read more
