EVERYONE that works there is so freindly, inviting and helpful. I met with a female, can't remeber her name but it was for personal trainging and she was the sweetest. The owner was extremely pleasent and the environment in general was so welcoming and calm. I wish I lived closer so that I could be an actual memeber here and if my location ever changes, I'd be back in a heart beat. I've just about tried it all! What brought me in to try the day pass at GyFitness was (1) the dozens of machine options compared to smaller gyms (2) locally owned small business (3) hours are longer than other boutique gyms, and (4) location. I chose to do a month to month membership for $85/month plus tax. I'm happy I did because I ended up needing to cancel due to two bad back injuries and a tear in my knee (not related to working out!). This month to month allowed me to cancel vs. on a long term contract, but the owner Rose and her specialist walked me through the process with grace The crowd is a mix of local, some military, and age range mostly college age up to 50s for the most part. People keep to themselves but the local vibe made me feel comfortable and less judged compared to other gyms, especially after weight gain. There are multiples of most machines, and enough stair masters and treadmills to go around! Office staff was consistently kind and helpful, you can tell the owners are involved on the daily based on the service the staff offers. Bathrooms on the smaller side but clean, and bring your own lock for a locker. The 24 hour option at GyFitness isn't much more expensive than the limited hour option for those who prefer a more empty gym or work early/late. Parking can get busy at peak hours, but you're right next to Costco and two small restaurant centers so the most you'll walk is a minute or two from your car if you don't want to wait for a spot. It's a nice gym if you work Mililani/Ewa/Schofield but live in town, pull over to this gym right off the H2 and get a work out in until traffic dies down. 5 stars!

The variety of equipment here are some of the best of the Island of Oahu. Staff here are awesome. It never gets crowded like the other commercial gyms, even at prime time after work hours. Gym equipment are always clean and tidy. Greg and Rose have provided a one stop shop for any level fitness person. They have pro shop that offers a wide range of supplements, gym apparel and gym accessories. They also offer a dedicated posing room, tanning beds and offer hydration wellness. Greg and Rose are also great coaches, be it competitive bodybuilding or lifestyle. They really care about their clients and tailor the needs for each specific individual. I'm surprised this gym doesn't have a lot of reviews, so I guess write one. I was actually driving…read morenear the auto parts store and I noticed this garage that had a giant boxing ring in the back and a lot of different types of punching bags. Curious, I stepped inside and saw two guys in the ring with headgear sparring with each other. I also saw above me on the walls these giant pictures of all the fighters the gym trained. I was greeted by Coach Phil who looked a bit intimidating at first, but was very nice guy. He talked about how most people don't even know there's a boxing gym in Aiea, but said they were legitamate none the less. Going on to say that unlike other gyms boxing gyms where guys would have ego and start beef, BoxFit is about respect and honing your skills in order to get better. Whether you're an absolute beginner or an experienced competitor, Coach Phil said we're all learning new things everyday at our own pace. He said if I'm curious, come to a class (first one's free). If I like it, I can join. If not, no sweat. So I came the following Tuesday evening. Coah Phil said he normally swings by the gym during late evenings around 8pm so I would be trained by Coach Jazelle. I recognized her from one of the fighters pictured up on the walls. Like Coach Phil, I was also bit intimidated by her at first but eventually I learned she was also nice. Before the class started, she taught me the basic punches like the jab, stright, hook and uppercut. She said I need to remember those punches. I also noticed that the age of the participants were quite varied. Some looked to be in grade school, some looked to be only a few years younger than me and there were also a few who looked to be older than me. It was a really diverse group of students. So during the beginning of the class, Coach Jaz told us to get in our stance with our hands up. She called out certain punches by their assigned number and we were to perform those punches. At times she would demonstrate the correct form for those punches and tell us to do them again. We would do this for about 10 minutes. Next we would follow a certain curriculum that's written on a dry-erase board. They would be activities like performing combinations on a heavy bag, practice punch timing on the speed bad or the double-end bag, running, box jumping and many other exercies. We would spend about 3 minutes per station. Even though it was only a 45 minute class, it feels like a full body workout. Of course I decided to join the gym, but there are different tiers for the membership. You pay to either go once a week, twice a week or an unlimited number of times per week. How this works is let's say you sign up for the once per week membership and you go to the morning class on Tuesday. After that you feel like you have enough energy to join the evening Tuesday class. You can do that. Once a week meaning you can train all you want for one day out of the week and you can do all the classes or free training on your chosen day. With other gyms like 24 Hour Fitness and UFC gym, they can cost an arm and a leg while also feel quite boring. With BoxFit, the initiation fee is a lot less and I actually feel motivated to go to this gym. I'm never bored there. I want to learn to punch faster, slip punches, increase my stamina and my agility. Also if you want to box competitavely, they do that there as well. You would just need to talk to the coaches. Everyone has their own skill level and their own pace so don't feel frustrated. The coaches will help you. For anybody who wants to try something new and get active, I would highly recommend checking this place out. You can sit on a foldable chair and observe the classes to see if they're right for you.

Coach Phil is very knowledgable and works great with boxing enthusiasts of all ages. During the class times you find men, women, and children of all ages working out together. Coach Phil has a great attitude and the gym has a great non-threataning atmosphere. The price is also great too! At only $75 a month for unlimited training, you can't find anything comparable like that on the island. A great workout that keeps you motivated and coming back for more several times a week!
