I have been a member of this gym for about 2 years. I haven't had any issues with this gym until last week. Coach Justin approached me and a friend while we were sitting in the massage chairs. His behavior was hostile, unprofessional, and unprovoked. We were targeted and harassed. I no longer feel comfortable or safe going to this gym. We spoke with the Manager Marie after this incident, but were met with dismissiveness and a lack of urgency to address this incident. I filed a formal Complaint against Justin over 4 days ago but have not received a response from UFC Gym. read more

I've been a UFC member since the first UFC opened in Honolulu in 2012. Please fix the AC in the cycling/zumba/yoga room! The AC always seems to be broken whether it's the room or the outside workout area. I'm so tired of working out when the air is too thick to breathe. We have to open the doors to get some air circulation in the room and that's not enough! We all pay a lot for the gym membership and deserve better! Other than that, the coaches and staff are bomb! I've had a membership with UFC Waikele for a few years now, made the switch from 24 hour fitness when Covid happened. I love that the vibe here is more "serious" and not people standing around talking story. However, the "Annual Enhancement Fee" that they are charging members is a scam. They recently upgraded most of their equipment and added additional features such as cryotherapy booth and extra Olympic platforms. All of these are great but none of it compares to the AC that has been broken for MONTHS. It should be a crime to have to workout in the middle of summer with no AC. The annual enhancement fees they're charging members should've went to that. On top of that, they now have a very strict "bring your own towel" rule that they now have to enforce. I have no problem following this rule as I've BEEN bringing my own towel, but there is one lady in particular that works afternoons and seems to think that she is the Towel Police. She actually asks to see it. And she doesn't ask in a kind and pleasant manner. I don't know if I should feel offended or singled out, but this is the reason I've avoided coming here after work during the week. read more

The air conditioning hasn't been working for 7 months. 7 months! I know it's not the fault of the staff who's there and they have to suffer through it too. It must be on the corporate level. Still all this time, nobody can even give an ETA for when the air conditioning will be fixed. In Hawaii. Over the summer. I have a 3 year prepaid membership so I asked if they could just pause my membership till their air conditioning is fixed since I won't use their gym for now anyways, and they couldn't do it. Child Care Review! I visited this gym at around 11:15 am. Since I had to take my 3-year-old son, I decided to try out their childcare services so I could work out. I've been a gym member at this location for at least three years now, and I've never had any issues until today. I went to drop off my son at the childcare area and filled out all the necessary paperwork. The experience was great in the beginning, but then my child had an accident at 12 pm. I had to cut my workout short to change him, but I left his diapers at home. So, I had to leave the gym and come back. I asked one of the childcare staffs if they closed at 1 pm today, and they confirmed that they did. I told them I'd be back soon. As my son and I were walking to the car, I got another call to make sure I had paid the $6 fee. I explained that I had paid it at the front desk office before I started working out. However, the staff member assumed that I hadn't paid because it wasn't showing in their system. So when I came back I pulled out my phone to show that I received a notification that u was charged their $6 fee. My bad experience began when I returned to the childcare room at 12:32 p.m. The staff, an older woman named Pat, who appeared to be in her 50s or 60s, greeted me with an attitude. She yelled, "Eh, you know I close at 1 p.m. I have to clean up." I informed her that it was only 12:32 p.m., but she continued to punch me in the iPad and said, "I cannot punch you in." Her tone suggested that she didn't want to watch my child simply because she needed to close at 1 p.m. I was aware that childcare closed at 1 p.m., but her repeated insistence on the time implied that I wouldn't be returning before 1 p.m really triggered me. As I looked around, I noticed that four children were still inside. She then threatened me, saying that if I don't return by 12:55 p.m., she would mark me down as tardy. This made me wonder if she would add this charge to my account, like seriously lady chill out. SMH! I didn't mind paying, but her threatening behavior was what really pissed me off. When I went to complain in front of the gym office, my phone rang at 12:56 p.m. to ask me if I was on my way because she needed to close. It was as if she was expecting me to be there immediately. It was also amusing that she had announced on the radio at 12:44 p.m. that we had 15 minutes to pick up our kids before she closed at 1 p.m. I had never experienced such behavior at any gym, not even when I tried out the Mililani branch. Overall, their childcare staff was a terrible experience. It made me wonder if Pat threats members with such attitude and threatens them to come at a specific time, just as she did with me the gym should clearly advertise that childcare closes at 12:55 p.m. to avoid such threats and ensure that parents are not forced to come at a specific time. Such a bad experience as this was my first time. SMH I wonder if she threats our kids too who can't speak for themselves. Watch out moms, beware of this lady. read more

I travel back and forth out the island and to the mainland every month due to family and I'm not complaining because I get to be home with family. In the mainland commuting back and forth to a gym is a long distance compared to the gyms here on the island, I don't mind the drive especially when being consistent and avoiding traffic hours and going back and forth from Waikele and Kakaako. Hard to pick a location I want to stick with when they can't be consistent about the employees service towards people. I might not be local but atleast greet your guests and try to be friendly!! What happened to the aloha? So pilau, if you know you know. And the AC? When is that getting fixed? Other reviews show that their getting the same type of responses to the situation, the employees don't know either. It sucks we have to work out in the heat now what about your staff that's working there for hours? 3 stars because I still enjoy coming back, for the location, the spaciousness and amount of amenities they offer over time. Being a coach at this gym I feel I have a broad view of the Gym. When I first started at UFC I joined as a member like everyone else. What I liked most about the gym was the cool vibe you get. Some of the other gyms I have been a member I didn't get that "friendly" feeling when I was there. I am fairly outgoing so it felt odd not to be able to make connections. The other thing I really liked about UFC was the wide range of classes they have available. When I first started I took classes like DUT (Daily Ultimate Training), fight fit and "Zumba" like classes. I did get to the point where I wanted more and joined the Jiu jitsu program. I haven't look back. My son and I are coaches now teaching both adult and kids classes. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to get that broad range of exposure to fitness. read more

Very disappointing a company as large and reputable as UFC can't resolve this issue. Yet they are spending thousands running radio ads. I would encourage prospective customers to look elsewhere until the AC is fixed. Also if you can suspend or quit for the time being, I'd recommend doing. The Hapalua marathon just got into my way to get to the gym, so I came up here. Well, my limited membership doesn't allow me to extend past Honolulu, and the young woman tried to figure it out, but the only thing she could do was have me purchase a day pass, which was fine. This location is smaller than Honolulu but it worked! A great number of cardio machines, and the weight machines and free weights are laid out perfectly. I can't even imagine when it's prime time how crowded it is, but it has a very local community vibe which is a nice change of pace from the Honolulu location. Joining ufc gym waikele, the new amenities and all is surprisingly nice! They got a recovery center just added, had a huge event this past weekend! Love the friendly atmosphere and community. Employees there are nice, sometimes there are days they are short staff just like any other business out there & try to do their best to accommodate new and existing members. The ac is out, but I feel like you don't go to the gym for the AC while it is a nice thing to have I believe it's not needed. In my experience, there a gym down the road with no ac and it's a warehouse !!! The doors are open, there are fans popped around the gym, the group fitness room still has ac. Been a month now of joining UFC... absolutely love it. I've been going to the fitness classes like cycling and muscle makeover. Mentally, emotionally, and physically feel like I've been improving. Enjoy the classes as the instructors are great and very motivational! But not to the point they're howling at you to push yourself extensively, after all we know our limits. I usually like the workers there but the ladies now in the front (the haole one especially with the tattoos) and the young Filipino one I don't like). They are rude every single time I walk in the gym to bring to my child to jujitsu, telling me I need to check in and bring a towel. It's ridiculous, I pay for his membership but not for me and he has been a member for over 3 years. You need to put better greeters in the front who check you in or hire people with customer service cause them 2 are not it. I've been coming to UFC for yearrrrssss.. I took a break and canceled my membership about 3 years ago to try other gyms out that were offering cheaper prices but it didn't work for me and I missed UFC the whole time. Now I'm back again and it's the start to a new year. I was even lucky enough to get a really good deal for being a prior member. They had a special and by paying for the membership of a whole year up front, I was able to get the next 2 years free. I jumped on that deal so quick and I'm glad I did because their monthly prices have gone up significantly since I first joined back in 2015. The parking here is great but during rush hours, you'll have a hard time finding a parking spot especially on Sundays since there's a giant church in the same lot. UFC Gym has multiple locations on island but the Waipahu location across from Waikele Shopping Center is the only one I've been to. I don't take part in any of the training classes but they have plenty of them to offer throughout the week. Download the UFC app and you can see the schedule from your phone. You also use your phone to check in and every check in earns you points that you can use to purchase merchandise, smoothies, food at the bar, get discounts and even redeem for a whole month of free membership if you earn enough points! The gym itself is pretty awesome once you walk in the door. The atmosphere is bursting with shades of red, motivational sayings and tons of UFC Fight posters all across the walls. They also play pretty good music to workout to. You're greeted by the friendly gym staff who have the scanner ready to check you in so make sure you have your bar code open on the app. To the immediate right, you'll find UFC merchandise like shirts, jackets, leggings and supplements. To the left against the wall, you'll find all their sparring gear and gis. Farther in you'll find the rolling mats to the far right, then the restrooms and water fountains. All the cardio machines line the front with many options to choose from. Some of my favorites to use are the stair master, stationary bikes, row machines, elliptical and rope pulleys. They have a lot more than that too. There's also plenty of free weights as well as weight training machines to work every muscle. The only thing I think they're missing is a hack squat machine since I love training legs. Besides the weight training areas, they have a fight cage, kick/boxing bags, monkey bars, a giant studio lined with mirrors and more stationary bikes, and a green area where you'll find the cross fit gear and where the trainers hold their training sessions. No sauna or swimming pool though like 24HR Fitness. Restrooms have plenty of showers, lockers and bathroom stalls. Make sure you bring a lock! If you need a trainer, there's plenty to choose from. Just let them know what your goals are and they'll pair you up with the one that sounds right for you. For example, they have a coach who specializes in Wellness Physique for the women's bodybuilding category if you want to compete on stage one day! This gym is open 24hrs so you can get a training session in anytime of the day. They're pretty clean too and it doesn't smell weird like some other gyms I've been to. You'll find cleaning stations throughout the gym and someone is usually walking around cleaning up and wiping down machines. Overall, it's a great place to workout if you're looking for a gym to call home. The best part is the people I've met here and continue to see everyday grinding. They really do make me happy when I see them grinding just as hard. The environment is super friendly and very open. Anyways hope you give enjoyed my review! See you all at the gym read more

I've been going to this gym for a few years now. The UFC BJ Penn Gym has multiple locations on Oahu. This review is about the location in Waikele. There are ample of parking, but advisory, parking is hard to find when there's church service with the neighboring church. I've been a member for a few years now and if you're just looking for a chill place to workout, you can find it at this location. They have the standard cardio machines, weight machines and free weights. Can't really compare how spacious this location is to other gyms on the island, but it's spacious enough to have multiple classes happening simultaneously. The gym do get busy during the peak hours, but there's enough equipment where you're able to get in a workout. This location also offers many classes you can take from yoga, Zumba to DUT. All the instructors of the classes I've been in are very professional and friendly. Aside from the different classes, there's also personal trainers you can sign up with to have one on one personal training. After your workout, you can make your way to the arm bar which offers a variety of shakes, smoothies and meals. Prices are reasonable, but it can add up if you get something every time you go to the gym. read more

After healing and recovering from breaking my right leg in 2022 I decided to invest in a fitness coach for 3 months in order to get me safely back on track with a fit and active lifestyle again. The general manager at UFC gym Waikele, Marie Fujii, so kindly helped me get set up with Coach Anna Yi! Anna was everything I needed and more. She helped me to learn, plan, coordinate and execute workouts in the gym and at home while safely navigating my body through everything! Some of the things that really helped me were my Google doc sheet that she created for me and actually writing out my busy daily schedule from wake up time to bedtime. My Google doc sheet (that you can print, study and keep forever) has all of my gym and at home workout plans as well as some healthy meal and snack ideas that Coach Anna strategically planned out. And believe it or not, taking the time to write out my daily schedule, like Coach Anna suggested, was so helpful because I could see where I could plug in my exercise time slots! Anna is also a realist who emphasizes on being flexible and graceful with yourself while you manage an active lifestyle ! If you're looking for a fitness Coach I highly recommend Anna! Coach Anna has the best personality and she's positive, fun, motivating and she knows her stuff. I feel great moving forward with my active lifestyle after being coached by Coach Anna Yi. Anna made me much more comfortable and confident on how to navigate a consistent healthy diet and exercise routine with ease and grace without ever being hard on myself! I am also much more familiar with different workout machines in the gym as well. When staying at hotels I can walk into the gyms knowing how to use all of the equipment available! Anna is awesome and had me try out almost every piece of equipment at the gym! So grateful for a solid mindset and for the guidance toward what will work for my body! This is an awesome gym. The staff is extremely nice and the location is always clean. They have a spin room that they also hold classes in, cardio machines, functional fitness area, free weights, an octagon, BJJ area, and punching bags. There is something for everyone at this gym. Once your workout is complete you can go to the health bar for a snack or drink or you can get a stretch session/athletic massage. This is a great location, and if you join, you can go to the other locations on the island. I highly recommend giving this gym a shot! read more

First of all I like to say that this place is much closer to me than 20 four hour fitness and I would say 75% less crowded than 24 hour in Mililani and Pearl City. Just enough flat bench is an incline benches and dead lift racks to have a good work out for both my girlfriend and I. We haven't tried any of the classes but we plan to do a few in the near future. What about us here is the three-year $599 special which puts our workouts to about $17 a month which is a really inexpensive gym membership. They don't provide towels but that's not a big deal , the good thing is that it's very clean and most of the equipment is newer. I wish they were less people staring at their phones while working out and talking story instead of doing what they're supposed to be doing there and blocking the equipment but overall it's been pretty good. So far so good and it's been a nice change from the crowds and waiting at 24 hour fitness. read more

I usually don't leave negative reviews, but this deserves to be said. Good amount of equipment and I love the Arm Bar where you can get protein shakes. I was a former member that cancelled my membership back in 2017. The person who helped me cancel it kept asking "Are you sure?" and kept trying to convince me to stay. Lady, I was firm in my decision, thanks. I can workout at home. I re-activated my membership today. It's like they couldn't wait to get me off the phone and take my money. All the while, I'm the one being courteous and professional. I don't have to be that way. I'm the customer, not the employee. The employee was rushing & interrupting me, and straight up hung up on me. The customer service is rude and overall terrible. They don't treat you like a valued customer, but instead, as a nuisance and inconvenience. This is a place of business, and I would expect employees to conduct themselves in a courteous, professional manner. You're welcome for being a customer and giving you business. We've been members for more than 10 years. Sadly, it's time for us to begin a new journey. We called about cancelling our memberships. Dave was pleasant. He provided the information I needed and asked me to repeat the email address of the person who does the cancellations. I was grateful for his taking the extra step to ensure I had the correct information. He said, "it's better to have one phone call with the right information instead of having two calls." Then, Aly, the operations manager, promptly replied and was able to complete the cancellation process. Later, my husband and I called to reconfirm and Cece took the time to research and ease our minds. She affirmed all our of memberships were indeed cancelled. Awful customer service. The management is terrible and their employees don't properly document anything leaving "no proof" when you need action taken. Cici tried to put the blame on me when I had no proof I tried to freeze my membership, when I actually was getting billed my full membership amount. Safe to say I wont be a member here ever again. They offered no help, or solution and basically told me there's nothing I can do. I tried to see if they would be able to track who I spoke to based on the time and day I called, to which I was told "a lot of people work here" and they didn't even try. I canceled my membership today with no refund on the improper charges as "i didn't have proof". The management here needs retraining on how to even talk to a person. Love coming to do the classes here at UFC Waikele. I pay $36/month for my "fitness" membership which includes use of all the equipment and access to Zumba, Cycle, Yoga, UFC Fit, Hot Hula, RIPPED, Kick Ass Kick, and other group fitness classes. To me, if I can get to the gym and do at least 4 classes per month and use the equipment (and amenities like the shower/locker facilities) it makes it kind of worth the price. The only big thing I wish UFC would change is their gym use policy. It's not like 24 hour fitness or the YMCA where you can workout at other facilities with your basic membership, which is a nice perk. You would have to pay the "Ultimate" membership price at $51/month (too expensive for me) to get all-gym access to the 3 UFCs on island. So right now, I'm only able to workout at one gym only (Waikele) which is kinda junk especially when I found out the new Mililani gym has a sauna which Waikele does not have. For me, convenience and accessibility is key for going to the gym. UFC Waikele is convenient for me & an overall nice facility (3 stars) but I want more access to other facilities to really take advantage of my membership! I would meet them in the middle and pay $40 to workout at 2 locations perhaps! ....but still I think that's a reach. UFC's goals and focus may be totally different than 24 hour fitness but I think they can do their clients a favor and open more locations OR let the price be more reasonable to workout at multiple existing locations. read more

Beware of broken promises and not honoring contract agreements with this gym. I signed up a while back and the terms of my contract was I would pay a big lump sum of cash up front and my rate would be a set monthly rate for as long as I was a member of the gym (or so I was told). Since COVID they decided to not honor the contract and have decided to increase my monthly fees due to increase cost of living ect. This has gone on every year since and I was told that it would continue to go up each year. The increase is not a small like some other places, this year it actually went up 3 dollars a month. I get that it could still be considered reasonable but that goes against the reason I did the big lump sum down-payment up front which was to lock in a low monthly rate. Every year when I call to ask when will they honor the contract they basically tell me that there is nothing they can do and in her words "if you don't like it, you can always cancel". The operations manager sent me a section of the contract (not my contract that i signed) where it says they can increase monthly rates anytime they feel like it but when i asked if they can show my that section in the contract that i signed she conviently could not find my contract. The goal of this post is just to spread awareness as I'm not too sure if they still offer these types of contracts? Nice gym, just not what I was looking for. Was hoping to get the best bang for my buck and figured I could learn boxing while continuing jiu jitsu and use the gym. But after seeing the classes I personally prefer to just go to an actual boxing gym to learn. This review is more so on their business practices. I've seen a lot of negative reviews on canceling their membership and they really do try and keep your money. I signed up on 9/24 and on 9/26 I decided it wasn't what I was looking for personally and attempted to cancel. You do need to cancel at the location where you signed up. But apparently since I was still new, none of the sales reps/managers wanted to help me with canceling my membership and was told I needed to cancel with the same person I signed up with. Didn't see that anywhere in the agreement form but ok. So I come back the next day to cancel with the same guy that signed me up. I told the guy I wanted to cancel and I know they got quotas and are in the business to make money but he told me I already paid for two months (initial deposit & last month deposit) so I can cancel after that. But their policy is you can cancel the agreement paperworks you initially signed within 5 days of first starting your account. But this guy intentionally tried to keep my two months deposit until I mentioned the 5 day policy to get a full refund back and he just said "oh ok so that's what you want to do". Obviously if I cancel I'd like to get my money back if possible. And luckily I read the agreement form and saw their 5 day policy. Im sure it's even harder to cancel/get your money if you've already passed those five days. But just know if you are new to the gym and you change your mind, you have 5 days from your start date to cancel your membership and get a full refund back. They won't tell you that and will try and keep your money. There's a separate 5 day cancellation form you have to fill out for that. Now only time will tell if I get that refund back or have to dispute the charge. read more

UFC Gym Waikele-- literally my second home besides my home. I am here just as much as I am at home. Because it's 5 mins away from my job, working out every morning is my daily routine. I love this gym better than the Kaka'ako one because there is a big parking lot for all their patrons to park. I go early morning because the lunch crowd and after work crowd can get pretty wild. The only thing I don't really like about this gym is that... if I get there early like 7:30am, they're already preparing for the morning class activities that happen in the room so by 7:45am they're already kicking you out. Not necessarily anyone telling me I have to leave, but because they start setting up the obstacles and the equipment, it feels like they're hinting for you to leave the room. But it's whatever. I choose UFC over 24 hour fitness or Honolulu Fitness Center anyway. I pay a decent price for two locations.. as long as I don't have to wait for a machine then that's fine to me. UFC app is definitely a must have app. If you register your barcode into the app, you don't have to pull out your little barcode scan thing that's connected to your keys lol. I love working out here but recently it's become harder to drop my daughter off at kids club. It's filled up a lot. I drive from town and it's disappointing to show up to a wait list. When I finally get to drop her off and miss half the class I wanted to go to, I get into the gym and find it not crowded. What is happening is that members are abusing the privilege of kids club. They drop their children off and then drive off to do errands and what not. This takes away from the members who are in the gym going to the classes and exercising. I don't like thinking that members are dishonest but they do exist. What I propose is a sign in sheet that states the location of the parent along with random inspections. The parents that are not found in the gym will have a temporary suspension from using kids club. This will benefit all members and end any abuse of the kids club system. read more

My experience with the facility/gym is great! The machines and equipments are clean and nice. However, the unfortunate event I encountered today was being harassed by the manager. Her name is Allie Pascual. She approached me while I was getting started with my workout on the treadmill with my son and brother in law. Asking about our membership. When we clearly checked in as a VIP member since I am visiting with my son and my brother in law was scanned. But that was not enough proof of our membership for her. Walked me over to a computer to check our membership and asked about my brother in law. She asked what was my bro in-law's name etc and should be 18 or older. I said he's 22 with a membership prepaid for 6 months that I paid for. So I asked, what was her reason for asking. She kept saying she just needed to "double check". Double check out?! When we clearly checked in on our entry. We didn't illegally enter and skip the desk! I even had a chat with the other employee. When I continue to ask her what her reason was, she blew me off by saying "enjoy your workout". How can I when I was just clearly harassed for NO particular reason! read more

I love the classes and instructors here. I especially love Ikaika and Chad's Zumba class. Yes it's Zumba but the movements are fast paced and boy the work out! I'm surprised how many men take this class. The class is always packed so It's a good time had by all. My complaint? The smell.. yes I realize it's a gym but still. Spray something! I feel comparing it to the Honolulu location this location is better in terms of cleanliness, smell and air conditioning and the instructors. A girls gotta work out so I'll be here. read more
