I played at Lake Junaluska Golf Course while visiting from out of state and had one of the most…read moreunnecessarily uncomfortable golf experiences I've had. We booked a last-minute tee time and only brought one golf bag for two players because we did not understand the course policy requiring separate bags. As soon as staff raised the issue, we immediately offered to rent clubs or delay our tee time if needed. Instead, the course employees themselves decided to let us play the front 9 and then decide whether to retrieve another bag before continuing. That should have ended the issue completely. Instead, we were approached again during the round and effectively hassled over a situation that staff had already approved. The marshal then explained that the reason was because there was a board member playing behind us who was complaining. That is incredibly unprofessional. If management or board members disagree with a decision, that should be handled internally between staff -- not by repeatedly confronting paying customers after an arrangement was already approved by the course itself. Don't put players in the middle of your internal politics and communication failures. The most frustrating part is we were cooperative from the beginning and willing to fix the situation however they wanted. If the course had simply delayed the tee time for a few minutes so we could handle it "correctly," that would have been far more professional than interrupting us multiple times during the round over a decision their own employees made. Beautiful scenery, but the customer service and professionalism were disappointing enough that I would not return.

Some very quirky holes...a number with blind tee shots. Fairways were in very poor condition, although greens were in good shape. I'd consider playing it again at $60 but no way it's worth that they charge. My group is taking it out of our course rotation. The front nine is relatively flat and is in the "valley" but then the back line goes up and down the mountain a bit. The holes are a little wonky sometimes but are usually very fair. The greens on the back nine can get a little crazy , it helps to play with someone that has played the course before. When I played the course, it was in pretty good condition. Comparatively speaking it's in much better condition than the other public tracks in the area that I have played. There were a few brown spots on the fairway, but nothing major. The greens rolled very true. My only real complaint was that the expectation of how fast you should play is pretty unrealistic... I think they have teetimes every 10 minutes and there's a lot of older golfers. There's also a lot of groups that have both males and females in them... None of this is a bad thing, but it slows the round down because people are teeing off and different places. There's also a couple holes that are cartpath only that really Can slow down your round. The price felt a little high, but it was in much better condition than courses that were only a little bit cheaper and so I'll take the higher price and the better conditions any day There wasn't a lot of water on the course... And buy that what I mean is jugs of water to drink... So it's not a bad idea to grab a water bottle in the clubhouse for you come out. The only other thing of node is that the driving range is nowhere near the clubhouse. I got lost taking my golf cart there! Twice! And longer hitters won't be able to use driver on the range. Beautiful course. Wonderful round. Worth the drive. Beautiful views!

We didn't use the amenities, but at check-in, it was made clear that we could use the pool, schedule golfing, and that the restaurant at the club was fantastic. Our favorite parts were the views, how homey the condo was, and the proximity to places we wanted to go. It isn't far from Biltmore Estate, Waynesville, downtown Asheville, or the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are local restaurants around, some shops, and grocery stores nearby. The complex was also very quiet. I would highly recommend staying here for any trip.

Please clean up after your pets, to keep this gracious area pet friendly!

If you suck at miniature golf, this course will boost your confidence. You will then carry that confidence around until you eat a sandwich or go tubing. Then you will pretty much forget you played miniature golf. However, if you're the type of person that likes to live in the moment, then miniature golf is recommended--Fantasy Golf in particular when in Maggie Valley.
