I played at Lake Junaluska Golf Course while visiting from out of state and had one of the most unnecessarily uncomfortable golf experiences I've had. We booked a last-minute tee time and only brought one golf bag for two players because we did not understand the course policy requiring separate bags. As soon as staff raised the issue, we immediately offered to rent clubs or delay our tee time if needed. Instead, the course employees themselves decided to let us play the front 9 and then decide whether to retrieve another bag before continuing. That should have ended the issue completely. Instead, we were approached again during the round and effectively hassled over a situation that staff had already approved. The marshal then explained that the reason was because there was a board member playing behind us who was complaining. That is incredibly unprofessional. If management or board members disagree with a decision, that should be handled internally between staff -- not by repeatedly confronting paying customers after an arrangement was already approved by the course itself. Don't put players in the middle of your internal politics and communication failures. The most frustrating part is we were cooperative from the beginning and willing to fix the situation however they wanted. If the course had simply delayed the tee time for a few minutes so we could handle it "correctly," that would have been far more professional than interrupting us multiple times during the round over a decision their own employees made. Beautiful scenery, but the customer service and professionalism were disappointing enough that I would not return. read more

The course is advertised as easy and open. While the course isn't as long as some others, it more than makes up for it with blind tee shots, narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes, and some very challenging, uneven greens. The pro-shop NEVER answers their phone, so I went onto their website to make the tee time. It showed the total amount and took my credit card info. AFTER I hit the submit button, there was a mysterious charge of $4.98 added to the bill for booking. I arrived to the course thinking I already paid the fees, but it hadn't been charged to my card, only the $4.98 booking fee. In the future I will call them, and if they don't answer I will choose another course, just as I did yesterday. This is a real chicken S way for a golf course to do business. read more

this is the best maintained public course I have ever played. even the rough was pristine. reasonable rates and dynamic views of Lake Janalusha. lots of elevation changes make this relatively short course challenging. there is one double bogie: hole #14. rated by Golf Digest as the worst hole in golf. The 1 star is because of the guy running the club house on 9/1/24. I've been golfing here for 2 years. Everyone else that works here are great people and never have had a problem with, besides the guy running it today. Also the ground keepers do a fantastic job. I've tried to look pass his sarcastic comments and personality for 2 years now. Played 9 holes today the sky fell out and continued to pour the rain for the rest of the evening. Asked at 3:30 for rain check for the back 9. He refused. So continued to try and play, put us on a 30min delay then another, didn't specify the length of time. By the time it was about to end it started raining again before second delay was finished. I decided to give it up because the rain has set in. Went back and asked if he still won't give out a rain check for 9. At 4:20 He refused and sarcastically made the comment "that I'm not God". Obviously buddy, weather is not the issue, the issue is that he knew good and well no golfing was going to happen and he wanted to keep the money. This is supposed to be a Christain based course, yet this man is nothing but sarcastic, and greedy. Also not the only golfer that felt this way, many turned away unhappy with the decision. read more

Enjoyed round of golf in the cool of the mountains. The course is in fair condition with the fairways a low 3 and the greens a high 3. Not overly crowded but most playing at a leisurely pace. A very walkable course. read more

This is a overall great course. The layout is one of the best I have played, and incorporates many moderately difficult, fun to play holes. There is no food or bar on site, however this is made up for by the great price. As I am under 16 I can play a 9-hole round for 5$. The greens are great and the fairway is a bit long but gives beginners something to hit off of. read more

Great golf course for the price! Fairway and greens are well taken care of, and there are some good views along the course. The staff was super friendly and gave good recommendation on where to eat as we were just passing through. If you get a chance to golf here, it's definitely worth it. read more

Course conditions, fare. Beware that most of the greens slope big time away from the hole. Cart paths, need work. Signage? Ugh. When you come off some holes, there's ONE arrow sign to the next hole. But then you come to a T and there's no indication if you should go left or right. We had to turn around multiple times. No real food in the pro shop, just crackers, chips and candy. $40 rate, weekday morning. read more

This is the worst golf course I have ever played on. The women at the desk was rude. When I asked how business was doing today she rudely said they were always busy. Well if you're always so busy then why are the fairways so disgusting. Why are half the tee boxes only dirt. Grow up and take care of your grass women. Buy some fertilizer. Also, the entire back 9 holes sucks. The designer must have had dementia when designing the course because some of the holes are god awful. The only good part was the scenery. read more

Friendly staff. Nice bargains in pro shop on golf balls. Original nine hole layout expanded to eighteen. There are nine nice golf holes on this course. The back nine is awful. Hole fourteen has a power line running right down the middle of the hole. Fifteen is a blind hole. Sixteen routes you down a neighborhood street. The design of fourteen, fifteen and sixteen adds an hour to a round. Expect a slow trudge especially on weekends. The eighteen hole design is so awful they ought to plow the place up and start over. read more
