What a fun night with The Tourists. We parked at The Minnie Jones Health Facility right up the street. It was about a 8-10 minute walk downhill. Friendly staff greeted us. Lots of local beer and food choices. The burrito bowl at the South of The Border stand was flavorful and a great value. The mascots were entertaining, the crowd was enthusiastic, and the venue clean. If you parked at Minnie Jones , the venue has golf carts to take you back to the parking lot and both the lot and the ride is free. read more

Stopped by the Asheville Tourists for a home game when I was visiting my friend in Asheville in the Summer of 2021. It was your typical run of the mill minor league baseball team and stadium. They had a very nice selection of drinks and food. I ordered an apple pie alcoholic seltzer and I think it's the best seltzer I've ever had. I wish I could recall the brand and order more! We got 2nd row seats behind home plate for around $15 which was awesome. They have the option to order food right to your seat which is nice if you don't want to miss any of the game - although it is minor league ball so you're not missing too much. I've been to so many baseball games growing up with my dad that I am pretty used to seeing them so there was not too much special with this one in particular. It is a relaxing way to end an evening if you're here on vacation as a "tourist" yourself! read more

Minor league baseball fun! Cheap tickets, great seats and possibly a future big leaguer or two on the field. Yes it's the minors but these players are shiny rocks with some rough edges which makes it fun. They are trying to go up the ranks so a little extra on the field leads to more scoring, more great plays and even a few errors. I went on Labor Day Weekend so the end of the season series (but not the last day). Strong fan support! Friday was sold out so I went on Saturday and yes, sold out. To be fair it was free jersey night and Captain America was in the house. The gates opened at 4:30. I got there at 5 and had to park a few blocks away on MLK. I got to the stadium and the line was down the block. I was informed that the jerseys had all been handed out at this point. Impressive fan support! It cost me $12 to get in and food prices were somewhat reasonable. Even buying a top of the line hat and other souvenirs I spent less than I would for a garbage seat at a big league game. Y'all I've been a fan of the tourists for year. And even though I am not agree with their name change, I will remain a fan for the foreseeable future. I love having a minor league team In my backyard. Tons of promotions- check online. The thirsty Thursday's and fireworks fridays are some of my favs. Also love half off nights Tuesday's. The stadium is huge and a lot of it is covered. It is also pretty clean as well. Staff seem to be either kind and older or kind and distracted college kids. I love that this stadium has had veggie options for years. They have hummus, veggie burgers, nachos, pizza, veggie dogs etc. Friday has $1 hot dogs which my partner loves. Make it $1 veggie dogs too please. Or like $2? Maybe? Great drink options-seltzers, domestic and imported beer and even some wine. Prices can be a lot but not compared to the big league. Parking is the worst. It's gotten ever more miserable over the years. Plan well, leave early, cross your fingers and expect to pay. read more

Wow! What an amazing stadium! Such a great place to spend an evening or afternoon; or, if you're lucky like me - all day - because you got to catch a double-header. The food and drinks are good quality and decently priced. Tickets are basically free, probably the cheapest entertainment you'll find in Asheville. The Tourists are such sweet boys, I just wish they would smile more after their successes; i.e. winning a game or making a home-run. Oh, and it was raining on and off the day we went and the stadium staff were prompt with drying off seats so we could go back to our enjoyment of the festivities. Plus, free T-shirts and sunglasses were given out to lucky audience members. We will definitely be back! read more

First, we were amazed at the food options at this ballpark that dates back to 1924. Most major league baseball parks don't even compare to this facility. They have all kinds of food items that you'll find at the state fair: deep fried moon pies, deep fried Oreos, deep fried cookie dough, Philly cheesesteaks, and so forth. Also, you'll notice that each door at the park has a historic ballplayer on posted on them; from Craig Biggio, Sparky Anderson to David Concepción. Also, there isn't a bad seat in the entire park. Although, the extended netting appears to make it difficult to get an autograph, or for a player to throw a baseball to the audience. Finally, the stuff was very helpful, and found a handicap parking spot for us. In fact, the young attendant, told us that he would park it for us, and bring our keys to us. What a life saver, especially since my YOPD started getting the better of me. So, if you're in the area, and like baseball, give them a try; you might have a great time. read more

I bought tickets for my family on line and I stupidly misspelled my email address and therefore never got ticket confirmation. I called and within 5 minutes, the wonderful woman, whose name I should have noted, figured out what seats I had and said she would print the tickets and deliver to the box office. Sometimes it is not easy to find fun things to do on a weekday evening while on vacation, However, attending a minor league baseball game in a wonderful small stadium was very entertaining. The Asheville Tourists organization did their best to provide wholesome family entertainment between innings. The mascots also worked very hard to connect with the young children in the stands. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to see that the starting catcher and outfielder were from Suwanee and Lawrenceville, Georgia which is where we have lived. Although we have been to many major league ball parks in our lifetime, we thoroughly enjoyed the small stadium and the excellent seats we had behind home plate. We wish the Tourists a very good season and we hope one day to see some of the young players in Atlanta. read more

The team is fun to watch but the stadium food service management staff dropped the ball when our company booked a party at the Ingles Picnic Pavilion. Cold food is not my idea of a fun night out at the ball park. I get the season just started but having cold barely cooked hotdogs and cold "hard as a rock" burgers just do not cut it for paying fans. Shame on you folks for not spending time to make sure the food was on point for our party. read more

I love baseball. I played the sport and I've seen major league games across the USA and in Japan. Taking in a game at Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium, can be costly, time-consuming (with lines, traffic, parking) and crazy $10 draft beers and $12 hot dogs. Taking in a game at McCormick Field is so much fun - close to downtown. You can walk or park, with little or no problems. You can get seats right behind home plate for the price of a beer at Fenway Park. This is an historic field. Some Hall of Famers played and coached here. "Crash" from "Bull Durham" ended his career here. We sat next to major league scouts and Asheville Tourists personnel, and had a fantastic time. It didn't hurt that the Asheville Tourists played their best game of the season -- winning 13-2 on a blue sky day, with home runs, great base running, outstanding field play and pitching. The Tourist Mascot signed autographs for all the youngsters near us, and there were games and competitions for the fans, and friendly concessions people taking our beer and food orders and delivering the comestibles with the food hot and beer cold. Even if you don't like baseball, I highly recommend a trip to McCormick Park and an Asheville Tourists game -- lots of fun and clean good fun - Play Ball & Cheers in the mountains! read more

The Asheville Tourists are the Single A Class affiliates of the Colorado Rockies. The team is a mixture of guys straight out of the draft, fresh out of the DSL, or have a mixture of experience through out the lower levels of the minor leagues. The Tourists happen to play in one of the oldest minor league stadiums, thought they have made renovations over the years, but it has largely kept the same look and feel. If you have ever watched the movie Bull Durham, you might recognize the stadium as it was used for the field. This stadium is perfect if your looking for an intimate stadium, as it is on the smaller side. Seating is broken up into different levels (adult prior to game/ day of game): - general admission - bleacher seats, there is also a section reserved for families in which no alcohol is allowed - $6/$7 - reserved box- assigned stadium seats - $10.50/$11.50 - Press row seats- $15/$16 -Dugout seats- best be described as nice patio chairs with a bar top in front and wait staff -$29/$30 The dimension of the field are a bit odd in the sense that they are extremely short compared to many other stadiums. The Left Field is 326 feet, left center is 370 feet, right center is 320 feet, and right field is a short 297 feet. To make things even odder is that the walls are high, especially out in the right center and right field which causes many of the plays to hit off of the wall and thus the ball will bounce off. What you would think should be a single ends up being a double or triple depending on the fielders ability to track down the ball. Concessions seemed to have the standard food offerings. The really only viable choice for gluten free food would be the popcorn. If beer is your thing, they seemed to have a variety of selections, including some local offerings. I loved the fact that guest services provided a free score sheet, single double sided paper, to keep score. They even provided a sheet with each teams player information. The lineup was on a sign on the wall as soon as you entered the gates. One thing to caution on is during games, make sure you wear sun screen, especially in the box seats, as they are not covered. The only shaded/covered sections were the general admission sections, with the exception of the sections without bleacher seats out the outsides of the seating curves labeled GA on the seat map. All and all, catching a Tourist game is a relatively cheap and fun activity if you happen to find yourself in the Asheville area. read more

Best game in town. In an era where even minor league ball is going corporate and upscale, it's nice to know that there are still places and teams that are truly part of the community--McCormick Field and the Tourists are good examples. The stadium doesn't seat more than a few thousand, so you get the intimacy missing from so many of the megaparks. The seats are downright cheap, and the concessions are reasonable. The announcer and the music/crowd-rousing sound effects are actually better than at many big-time ballparks! The park is also easy to get to and get out from, and parking is free. It's also completely handicap-accessible. Can't beat it. My only beef? The program didn't include a score sheet. That's OK--I'll bring my own from home next time. /baseball geek read more

Decided to check out a game while my wife and I were staying in the area - we were not disappointed! There is not a bad seat in the entire ballpark and the food options there are outstanding. I may need an entire week's worth of games to get through the entire menu. Got my wife an ice cream sundae in a mini helmet - it was the best value we have ever gotten for that item. Plenty of ice cream for 2 people and toppings were free! I absolutely want to go back for a game ... or a week's worth of games. read more

My younger son loves baseball so we bought tickets online to attend a game while in the area on vacation. Prepaying online gave us a discount. We sat in section M which is nearly behind home plate, and only one row between us and the field. Section M is considered premium box seats so instead of having to get up to buy food and drinks, we had a seat server who did it for us. The food was good and reasonably priced for the type of event. It was Thirsty Thursday so beer and sodas were only $1. A few times throughout the game, they have little contests where they pull kids out of the stands to play on the field. They also have sponsored giveaways, like if a ball hits a certain spot on the board everyone gets free Ingles subs or if a kid can guess how fast the next pitch will be everyone gets a Bogangles coupon. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely be recommending to others and returning if we come back through during their season. read more

They keep you engaged between innings with kiddie relay races, T-shirt cannons, etc. Waiting in line for food gets tiresome. The fireworks shows I've seen were over-long, anemic and tedious. I absolutely love going to games at McCormick Field. It barely seats 3,000, and doesn't even sell out that often, so you get a real sense of community when you go to these games. The stadium is intimate, nestled back into the hills, and your view beyond the outfield wall is just the old football stadium lights and the side of Beaucatcher Mountain. The food, as one would expect in Asheville, is far above typical ballpark fare. I love the recent trend in baseball stadiums to really take the food up a notch and embrace the local flavor, and I feel like Asheville was ahead of the game on this. You can get local beers, barbecue, Philly Steaks, fried Moon Pies, even wine. The employees are always friendly, and the crowd always has a great time. read more

One of my favorite weekend activities! The games are always a fun time whether the Tourists win or lose! The fan base always fills the stands. Everyone is very friendly and my husband always finds another person to talk baseball 'business' while I enjoy people watching and having a few beers. Catching a Tourists game at McCormick Field is one of the best in MiLB. Beautiful view of the hillside beyond the outfield fence, have yet to find a bad seat in the place, and the ushers/staff are the nicest you'll encounter. Being "Beer City," you'd expect local brews at the game, and you won't be disappointed. Thirsty Thursdays can get a little rowdy with some showing up with the sole purpose of getting drunk on the cheap, but it's a rarity. Really hard to beat if you're looking for a nice baseball outing. read more

I like how some of the bleachers are just concrete blocks so you can bring your own blankets/folding chairs and create your own little comfy baseball nest. We attended the home opener for this season and had a great time. They've added seats since last season and that's a huge improvement. We arrived a little early to find seats for a relatively large group and were greeted by helpful and enthusiastic staff at every turn. The only complaint I have is that it's extremely difficult to hear over in the "cheap sets" (general admission). As much as it's nice to just watch the game, it's really helpful to be able to hear the announcers, and we really couldn't hear anything unless the crowd was very quiet. I didn't have a chance to try any of the new items, but I'll get to that next time! We love going to Tourists games, and I'm sure we'll be back soon. I definitely recommend checking a game out! GA tickets are just $8, so you definitely get your money's worth. We have friends who've done the Bojangles Dugout Suite seats and also say that those are worth it (I think they're around $30). You get all you can eat food and service to your seat. We all know stadium snacks can add up, so I can see their point. Plus you're right on the field and you don't have to get up and wait in line. The servers don't come by very often though, so be sure to order anything you might want for the next couple of innings. read more

McCormick Field, one of the oldest baseball stadiums in use is one of the best as well. The staff are friendly, and are great to work with for group outings, throwing in perks and extra tickets as well. The prices are fair. However, if you're in to the beer scene in Beer City USA, you need to come on The Original Thirsty Thursday, with 1 dollar domestics and internationals, and 2 dollar local brews from the best microbreweries in the business. The experience is great during Tourist games, with a lot of interaction with fans and lots of giveaways. McCormick field is an essential stop if you're a baseball fan or you're in to cheap entertainment. One of my favorite things to do in Asheville. read more

Drove up from Greenville to to an afternoon game on 5/14/17....Have been to McCormick numerous times over the years and always had a great time. Yesterday was a little bit of a different story....hassled by your "beer police" about sitting in the family section drinking, when in fact were not drinking at all..only water. Just not the same vibe as in years past, felt more like an armed camp than McCormick. Will probably not be making the trip up the mountain anytime soon. What a great venue to take in a baseball game. McCormick field is nestled into a quaint hillside offering a a wonderful backdrop. The concessions here are a notch above any other sporting venue. One of may favorites is the fresh Philly cheese steak cooked right before you with peppers, cheese, and fresh hoagie roll. This sandwich goes great with a local brew from one of the many local breweries keg carts. I recommend the Gateway Kolsch at the French Broad Brewing booth. For sweets, try the deep fried moon pie, this thing is like a freshly baked moon pie with the warm delicious crust of a funnel cake. read more

I happened to be walking nearby this ballpark when the person driving the courtesy golf cart yelled something at me from across a parking lot. Not hearing what he said, I said "No thank you, I'm going somewhere else." This person then proceeded to drive up to me (I was headed to an area where there is no parking for baseball so I'm not sure why he was going in that direction), and very condescendingly and loudly asked me "What so you think just because you're good looking I'm trying to offer you a ride??" and continued to follow me and attempted to make small talk. I'm not sure what I did to deserve being accosted in public and spoken to so rudely & intrusively like this when I was minding my own business walking down the sidewalk. Got a call for group sales asking if I wanted to renew our group coming to a game this year.He left a message. Call back to get info on the various packages for our group.I was told that to get group rates,I had to guarantee at least 20 people. I could either get box seats for $9($7 seniors/kids) or get a food package/ game ticket and pavilion for $23 per person. I was told to give them a $40 deposit and that if we chose one plan and then changed to another,the $40 deposit would be applied to the decision of our group. At our monthly dinner that evening,our group had some questions,so I went by the Tourist office this morning to get answers to our questions. After a quick tour, I decided on the more expensive option ($ 23pp). I'm ready to write the check for $40 for the deposit when the group sales guy says that the deposit is $92.....OK so I write a check made out to Asheville Tourists for $92. As I hand the deposit to the sales agent,he says " the deposit is $200".... " our new general manager just told me the deposit is $200" Huh? I've got $200,but what kind of organization is this? I'm now worried that I'll get to the game and there will be no record of our event,deposit or anything. The sales guys asks me if I want a receipt for my check.I decline,saying that my cancelled check would be my receipt. Get into the car and leave. Four blocks away,I worry that given the randomness of the ticket sales staff,I'd better get a contract specifying the conditions of our event. The sales agent apologizes profusely many times.He offers to cut the price by $2 to $21pp. I'm more concerned about the poor organization,communication and policies of the Asheville Tourists than the $2 lower cost. The sales guy tells me he will send me a contract by email.it arrived when I opened my email later today. Hopefully this is the end of the confusion with our event. OK,we had our event tonight and all was well.Typical confusion,but it was all on our part.People who hadn't pre registered or pre paid showed up.People came over an hour and a half time period.Ugh. Food was elementary school--elementary Catholic school :-) quality,but no one complained.Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening. We'll likely do it again,but maybe not do the food option. My boyfriend and I will now plan our future Asheville trips around a Tourists Game during baseball season. What a great way to spend a few hours. Thoroughly enjoyed the baseball game even though it was hot. We bought cheapy tickets right behind home plate, sweated our eyeballs out, then slipped to the back for some shade. The stands weren't full so we weren't taking anyone's seats and we still had a great view! I love live baseball, it's so friggin' relaxing. McCormick stadium is one of the more appealing stadiums I've ever been to. It's surrounded by woods and small enough to see well from the top level but large enough to not feel cramped in the seats. Also it was pretty clean and well maintained and they have various food options from gross to okay - exactly what you would expect at a baseball stadium but what I did not expect was the selection of local beers on tap, sweet!
