I see they now have a website which includes a charming history of this family-owned business dating back to 1955 when the current owner's father purchased the property, as well as where the name "Echo Hill" comes from! I believe almost all the employees are family and everyone is always friendly and helpful. Granted, I haven't been here since moving out of state in 2020 and from reading some of the reviews, it seems their prices (like everyone else's) have increased, but this store always had the biggest selection of grains, flours, nuts, and spices, as well as packaging for homemade food gifts. The collard greens are organic because that was the only kind he could find. So the guy buys four pounds of organic collard greens and he takes them to the cashier who barely acknowledges his existence despite an attempt at interaction. The register reads $17 and some cents. But that's not the joke part. The guy goes home to prepare the collards and upon unbundling each plume finds that many of the interior leaves of each bundle are not collard green, but collard yellow or collard brown. But that's also not the joke part. The joke part is that the collard greens/yellows come from a store that has disappointed the guy multiple times over many years due to a lack of ingredient availability, price gouging, and questionable customer service. A store that is called ... ... FRESH Market. (Ba dum tiss.)
