We just recently found out about Jungle Bob's when we were looking for somewhere to board our baby bearded dragon. We felt super comfortable leaving her there - every staff member was lovely and knowledgeable. This is a difficult review to write as the staff at Jungle Bobs is very knowledgeable and the store has everything reptile related you can want. They have an excellent selection of animals, foods, supplies, habitats, etc... I do not mind driving the 60 minutes, each way, from my home to visit the store. I have bought several animals from them, habitats, foods, and many supplies. I have also boarded my animals with them over the past few years (crested geckos) Today was the last day I will be patronizing Jungle Bob's as their prices shot through the roof and the discount they used to provide me for boarding multiple animals at a time seems to have disappeared too. After leaving the store today I truly felt that I was ripped off or taken advantage of. This is something I never felt working with Jungle Bobs. This week I boarded four crested geckos for six days. These are very low maintenance animals and are not even fed every day. I could not believe what I heard when the person behind the counter said the cost of boarding was $360. They charged me $60 per day ($15 per gecko) for the full six days. When I explained that this was significantly higher than what I paid in the past, I was told "Our prices went up". I reluctantly paid the amount, as I did want my animals back, but I decided right then that I will not be coming back. As I will need boarding services again, I am now looking for other options for places to board my animals. Driving the hour each way to get food, mulch, calcium, or items for their habitat will now be replaced by the abundant number of online places that I can shop at. read more

My initial experience was pleasant but, that was actually part of the problem. The staff were pleasant and seemed helpful and knowledgeable. I got my bearded dragon (Runica) from Jungle Bob's and purchased the enclosure with all the additions and recommended products by them. This included 3 lights, T5 zoomed UVB and two lamps for day and nighttime. The tank 36L18W18H with a mesh top. A ground mat and some terrain sticks and rocks. I also bought the recommended vitamins and food. Within a few weeks My Bearded dragon was getting sick and was having issues with mucus and eye goop. I took her to an exotics vet, and she got antibiotics and some other medicine, and the vet thought her jaw felt a little soft even though she was less than two months old. We gave it time as the vet suggested, and spring came around our Beardy was still not back to normal. We started taking her outside as it was warm enough and I built a large outdoor enclosure for her. This worked great and she was doing better. Fall came around and she was sick again with the same issues. She went to the vet again and more antibiotics but, blood tests showed no obvious signs of disease, or anything based on what the vet said. We showed the enclosure and equipment to both vets via a video call to make sure we had things setup ok. By chance while reading online (and then talking to the vet) I found the T5 zoo med bulb was not the 10%, 12% or 14% recommended in most places, it was 5% and the distance was not correct based on a few things like the mesh top and how the lamp sits on top of the enclosure. Even if it were 10% it would not be enough based on the 18H tank and the casing. The bulb was about 12" away from how she basks on a rock. The distance with the mesh and the improper UVB percentage means she was basically not getting any UVB. This was not caught by either of the two vets we went to either since they assumed it was right based on the T5 zoo med description we provided and the video call. All of this aside, the staff were great and appeared knowledgeable but, this is part of what caused me to not question their recommendations. We were also told to replace the mat flooring by the vet. We use fine crushed walnut now and it seems to work well for us (no we don't feed her in the walnut shell even though it should be fine). read more

Just moved back to New York after nearly ten years and was so excited to visit one of my favorite stores, Jungle Bobs! Im in the breeding business for a while and this place always has gems. Did most of my business with them via Expos. Drove nearly 2 hours out and came to realize they had switched locations. I spent the whole ride telling my friend about the place as I remember it. When I walked into the new shop it was beautiful. I asked an employee(skinny guy with long white hair and glasses) if they had switched locations. I thought maybe because of their success they might have just opened a second one. He looked at me like I was an idiot and said "Yeah, like seven years ago. Thanks for keeping up." And he just walked away. I didn't know what to say. I went from being so excited to disappointed immediately. I continued walking through the shop and as I expected it was clean, everything was beautifully displayed, animals were healthy. I came in looking to spend around 2500 on an enclosure that is currently in the works. I was surprised to have found a potential mate for one of my animals while I was there. I tried getting an employees attention but they were too busy talking to notice me or business partner. The guy with long white hair was talking to some women about his dream last night that she was in... I assumed they were friends. After waiting for about 20 minutes unable to get anyone's attention I decided to just leave. I'm not interested in purchasing anything online. I really want to buy all materials in person and I truly wanted to give my business to Jungle Bobs. My experience sucked. My rude encounter with that man upon my entry, walking around the shop without being asked if I needed help for 20 minutes, and then after discussing with my partner the materials we wanted to buy and agreeing to spend an additional 500 dollars in live stock and more in feeders... we couldn't get the employees attention from their conversation. I can't explain enough how important it is to have good customer service. With such a beautiful shop and so much attention to the animals and enclosures Jungle bobs lost out on a great end of the night sale because their employees failed to do their jobs and address the costumer. After some research on where to go for our first reptile Jungle Bob's seemed to be a great choice. They did not disappoint. We ended up going in there one day and asking a ton of questions. We wanted to make sure to do our due diligence and make sure we were ready for a long commitment of owning a snake. Dylan helped us out so much. He didn't hesitate to answer our questions and didn't get annoyed when we had more. We didn't end up purchasing the first day. When we came back the next day he remembered us and answered some more questions. He took out as many snakes as we asked for and we narrowed it down to two. We didn't feel rushed or pressured, he even let us be for a bit so we can talk amongst ourselves and make our decision. We ended up picking out a baby ball python and purchased it. They offered to hold onto him so we can get everything set up. I can't wait to bring him home! As a reptile owner and enthusiast, this place is my heaven. It's located on extremely busy road, but is the best thing to do around, so always make a stop, reptile pet owner or not! The store consistently is clean, organized, with everything easy to find (and so many animal pals to talk with!) The ones for sale are all so cute, and the permanent residents there, like Cheese the tortoise. And of course the famous Cuba, a huge but docile star who appeared with Bob himself on "Colbert!" The staff is friendly, relaxed and informative as well. They're on par with the people in Brian's in Rocky Point where they know each animal there along with their likes and personalities, people who truly love amd understand animals! I bought my cute beaded dragon there a few years ago when he was just a baby; the sales rep was funny, helpful and warned me the dragon was spontaneous with a huge appetite, but loved people. He was so right! I could write an essay on why I love Jungle Bob's, both as a store and all the good they do for the environment, reptiles overall, and the pets living there, but I'll stop here. I went in seeking a pet tarantula. I had some research on care and husbandry, but I was new to the hobby and trusted Jungle Bob's to give me reliable information. What I was told was a 5 month old female tarantula, turned out to be a mature male who died very unexpectedly to me, thinking I would have her/him for the full female lifespan. I went here because I thought they were the reptile (and more) experts, yet what I received was false information from people who had no idea what they were talking about, trying to make a sale like everyone else. I'm extremely disappointed with Jungle Bob's and I will NOT be returning. Don't trust the information they give you. They're no better than petco. read more

Clean! The animals and facilities are kept well and nothing is dusty or dirty on shelves, so their is turnaround on everything. (They don't warehouse super-stock supplies or animals). The staff and the animals look healthy and well cared for. People are VERY helpful at all levels of reptile ownership. I have heard them speaking knowledgeably to a great variety of owners and the information is realistic and timely. In other words, they don't sell you something, just to sell something- if you need it for your pet they recommend it but if you don't they'll tell you that too. In addition, they have lots of possibilities for pet ownership. They sell Axoloti's, Snakes, geckos, spiders, dragons to name a few. They sell fresh food for all.
