I've been looking for a regular barber to help me keep my face and head in reasonably well groomed condition. It's an old school barber shop and I expected an old school barber. Since I didn't know anybody I took the first available spot, with Keslie. She's neither old, nor old school. I got a great cut, hot lather/straight razor trim and some amusing conversation. 15 bucks. I brought 2 pics for reference. It came out somewhat similar (shorter on the top than I wanted), and, I noticed when we got home, about an inch longer on the top left/back side. The back of his head looks great, and the barber (J) shaved the peach fuzz from the base of his neck, too. I'd still go back for a return visit, and just do a check over before we leave.

They asked if we had jumper cables to jump our car. Unfortunately they didn't have any but they tried help anyway they could!! They were very kind and didn't have to check on us, but they did!! I had visited Kathy at Sportsman Barber Shop when she worked there, so I knew she could do it! She spent plenty of time asking both of us what we wanted and helping us figure it out. When we left we were both pleased! It made our day. This is a great place! It's in a historical building in downtown Winfield, just down the road from St. John's church. Kathy is still doing some renovations here, so I didn't have the full picture of how cute it will be when she's finished. When you walk in the front door, she has a goody bar on the left with some sweet treats (think the Little Popcorn Shop in Wheaton) and some coffee. She has an old fashioned barber chair for her clients to sit in and relax while she does her magic. Parking for here is off of Beecher Road, before the intersection of Church and Beecher. Stop in for a visit and leave with a great look!

Always had really interesting stories about "the good ole days." The best part about getting your hair cut here, it was a true barber shop. They had the spinning barber's pole out front and even went to the extreme to give a man the hot shaving cream and straight razor shave on the back of the neck. That's the real deal for a mans hair cut.
