I scheduled for an estimate for some junk I needed hauling off. I am in Houston, Texas. They said they would be at my house between 1pm and 3pm. Andre was supposed to show up and provide the estimate. They never showed up. I called Andre on his cell phone and all he could do was give me excuses. I was there at 1pm and around 2pm he was calling telling me he had to move it to the next day. I said I would be there. Then next day I was at the house at 1pm. I stayed until 7pm. Called this company for removal of a sectional. Was given an estimate of $128 supposedly after approval from Marcus the owner. Two guys showed up as scheduled. They worked hard to get the sectional out of my condo. However, one guy seemed to have an attitude. This guy nearly had a freak out on the sight of having to remove the sectional and then giving me lip over the price. I Requested a quote and was given 12-2pm Window. Jen Marcus calls at 10am to schedule earlier at 12pm. He said his rep Arthur would call me. Arthur NEVER CALLED ME. I was told he can meet at 12 noon. So I drove from Katy to Shepard / Richmond area. After waiting for 30 min, Marcus tells me His rep can't make it because he was at a larger job. Junk King give Junk Customer Service and Junk Communication! It proves again how 1 lack of communication is bad business. All I wanted was an Estimate. I called at 8:30 AM for a same day appointment as the other company I was going to use cancelled on me. The operator set me up with an appointment time frame of 4-6 PM. Great service. They came the same day. I had a small job (about 20 boxes plus a HUGE treadmill box). They were done in minutes and tidy. Horrible company and service!! Stay away from this place. I can definitely see why they have bad reviews. I read the reviews prior to making an appointment and had my reservations but was convinced by the sales agent they will provide great service. I went ahead and made an appt with them last week for a quote and junk removal the same day which is their policy. A guy Eric or Aaron came over and told us even before seeing what we had, there will be a fee of $100 for each mover (which was never communicated to us at the time I scheduled the appt) and there were 2 of them. He also quoted us $700 after seeing what we had. This came as a surprise to us because the maximum possible amount based on my phone conversation with the agent was $450. I can't stand companies that are not straightforward. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. INFACT RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION. THEY ARE UNRELIABLE. Originally wanted them to come out and give me an estimate. Owner, Marcus, called literally 15 minutes after booking and pretty much sweet talked his way to have me book an actual pick up. He said that if my items fit in a pickup truck, it was less than $200. Two pickup trucks would be $240 plus taxes. So I mentioned I had 300 sq. ft of tiles and it should fit a pick up truck plus carpet so two pickup trucks. When the guys came out, they said it's a full load for the tiles so that was almost $500 and then carpet would be another $300...holy crap! Over $800, 3 times the original quote, and I was livid. Gave the owner a call and he explains that oh, I thought you meant like a small kitchen tile clean up and you know, it takes time to clean it all up. I told him I am not paying that much and I mentioned it should have fit in two pickup trucks for the $240 price. So we ended up negotiating the price just for tiles...a little high still but I just wanted out of my house. The guys that cleaned up were very friendly though. However, I paid cash $378.88 and never received my receipt even though I mentioned that I didn't receive it. They just said, it's probably going to take 5 minutes then they took off...I hope they don't bill me again. I learned my lesson now. I also didn't get my $30 off from Yelp. read more

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE FROM THE STAFFORD AREA. I was quoted the same price 2 different times over the phone based on measurements I took of my junk wood. I was given the measurements of the truck and the metrics for pricing, however when my "free on site quote" was called to be confirmed, I was told by the owner/manager of this location that he wouldn't send a truck that far just for a quote, and that if I wanted them to come out I had to book a pickup. When they arrived, they told my wife that they were there to pickup the wood and it would be an additional $170 over the quote and asked if they could go back and get started. Apparently that was my quote and service agreement. After getting several pictures of the space used, the driver reluctantly agreed to come down on the price. The reason for the difference? I cut and stacked all my wood all 1x4x4 and 1x4x6.5 dimension. When they loaded the wood, they just threw it in the back of their truck and tried to charge me extra for the additional space. When I showed them pictures of the original pile with measurements they told me my wife agreed to the price and told them to start working, but they would drop $50 as a courtesy. In the end this means that this company literally charged me an additional $120 because the workers didn't want to stack wood. You should not offer free onsite quotes, then force people in your service area to book onsite pickups because they are too far. You should not offer pricing by space usage, and then try to gouge people by using as much space as possible. My Father and I cut and stacked the wood in an hour so it would be easier for them to load. I know exactly how much time and effort it would have taken for 2 men to do it. read more

Worst experience. After reading mixed online reviews for Junk King, I decided to try Junk King's Missouri City location to remove unwanted items from my garage. From the onset of scheduling my appointment, I told the representative that removal would include approximately 6-7 pallets of bricks and a couple other smaller items. The representative said that the items were standard for removal and I would receive a quote once the movers arrived. He also stated that if the quote was acceptable, then the movers would begin removal of the items. Thereafter, he scheduled my appointment for the upcoming Saturday at 1pm. At noon on the day of my appointment, I spoke with Junk King's manager, Marcus, who confirmed the appointment and items for removal. However, when the movers arrived they first refused to remove the bricks, then claimed that they do not remove bricks on weekends and, as a last ditch effort, attempted to gouge my wallet with a $600+ quote for removal. When I contacted Marcus about the misrepresentations and heinous price quote, he flatly stated that he was tired and may have misinformed me during our call. Needless to say, I did NOT use Junk King's services that day and cannot, in good conscience, recommend the company to others. Disappointed. read more

Owner called back to confirm and gave me a quote that was 40% less than other services and gave me a 2 hrs window. This morning his guys called me 20 minutes ahead and told me they were on their way. I called them and schedule a time to come pick up some brush from the back yard. (The lady on the phone was delightful and we had a great conversation). The guy that was scheduled to come pick up called me an hour before my schedule time, complained after I told him it was in the back yard and said he wont be able to get to me for at least 2 hours. the owner reschedules you at will, and doesnt respect his customers or the value of their business. in that way, its a shame that this guy even has a business, he doesnt deserve one. let me start from the beginning. i have a property that needed the garage/yard cleared out. this is a full commercial truckload job for pickup. i had busted my tail to prepare the property so that cleanup would be a breeze. i scheduled with junk king the day before and was told that the appointment was perfectly available. i also let them know that this was a full load minimum guaranteed. im not just calling them out here because i just have a few items or whatever ... trust me on that. the weather started to turn on me, so i figured i still had enough time to get there and finish up in the morning before the crew arrived. like i said, i was getting the load ready so that all they had to do was basically chuck it in the truck and head out, 45 minutes for the total job, tops. well, the owner calls me back in the evening to say that he wanted to bump the appointment earlier because fridays are inconvenient for him. i had to reschedule myself in the worst way to accelerate efforts on my end, but i didnt complain, and i accommodated his preferences. Aaaand the next morning he calls up just 2 hours before arrival window to let me know that his crew had a personal emergency and that he's "just gonna have to boot me out to monday if i still wanna do this" because he has jobs lined up the rest of the way. excuse me, but who the eff do you think you are??? i have carrying costs too man. not to mention i busted my tail making sure this job was lined up/prepped for you, and i gave you a full truckload too, you fkkng punk. i would have even accepted if i got moved down to later in the day, but dont EVER outright disrespect me or my jobsite like that. i called the service line to let them know whats going on, but i doubt its gonna make any difference because these are franchises. attitude like his gets me fired in my line of work but ... i guess its good to be the (junk) king. so to finish the story, i called up a prominent competitor with only an hour to spare, and a bit desperate. the difference in their service and professionalism was absolutely night and day. i reviewed them as well (they got 5 stars btw) and to get their name, just peruse my review history. read more

Texted a photo on a Saturday afternoon and received a quote a few minutes later. Booked appointment online on a Monday morning shortly before 8 and received a phone call around 8 to confirm appointment for later in the day. Then received a call mid-morning from a crew to see if since they were in the area, could they pick up earlier. I was THRILLED. The crew met me at the location (a local storage unit) and picked up the junk, swept out the storage area, and were gone. It took less than ten minutes for my small pile of junk to be gone from my life. Highly recommend these guys. They were fast, courteous, clean and kind. Our first few times working with the company were awesome. Good prices, quick turnaround time, and good communication. Our most recent experience wasn't good at all. Miscommunication every step of the way, price quote varied depending on who we spoke to, plus we got weird vibes from the guy (Arthur? Andrew?) they sent out and actually had to call the company to say he wasn't allowed back on our property.
