Spring means spring cleaning! That to me means anything in my beautiful home that is no longer serving me or is broken needs to go. With 2 college graduate daughters, their idea of "sentimental value" stuff they've left behind cluttering my closets is a no. They left it after many MANY sleepover visits so I am dumping it. Thanks to the handy dandy Yelp quote feature I was able to initiate a conversation about my needs and get a sense of the cost. I scheduled the appointment, which was rescheduled due to the job that day needing more time which was fine. They rescheduled me for a day and time that was convenient for me and my husband. The day of service, the truck arrived at the top of the appointment window block,two very kind hard working representatives showed up ready to go. My husband and I pointed at what we wanted removed from the attic, guest walk in closet, entryway area, and the garage. We filled up almost half a truck of things that couldn't be donated. Like that really cool electric stand up desk my old tech company bought for my home office that broke. My experience with junk king was a positive, fast, effortless appointment. My feedback: other companies sweep the areas they decluttered. I really like that. It feels complete. Otherwise, they get a fiver. This kind of work is tough and I appreciate the help. Sure we can go to the dump for less. What about the bigger pieces like the furniture? They deserve no star at all..I Nam olbligated to give them one star to post .. I was quoted $149 dollars over the phone, TWICE , after providing exact measurements of apartment size refrigerator to remove, from unit located 2 flights of stairs inside, plus garden steps.. Apointment was scheduled email confirmation followed. Two service people arrived as planned, without straps usually used to move this kind of appliance, they said they would not do the job unless I paid them $900.. Which I refused. I had some old furniture and what turned out to be a ton of trash in our garage that needed to be hauled away. I reached out to a few places on Yelp. I can't tell you what distinguished Junk Kings from the other guys. I do believe they were more reasonably priced from the competition. I also found out (like one other company) they charge by the size of your load..1/4, 1/2, Full, etc...whatever the size of the load, determines your fee. I easily set up a pick up time online. There is a $20 discount in your fee if you schedule online. Honestly, I'm not sure I received that discount. It didn't matter. The crew called on the pick up day and asked if they could show up early. Awesome, I had plans and don't know why I scheduled a pick up later in the day. When they arrived, we determined the load was basically a 1/2 truck full. Seemed good to me, there was a lot. They loaded it all up, I paid by credit card and they went on their way. No fuss, professional. Yes, I'd use Junk Kings again. The whole process was easy! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Junk King Marin and Matt, the owner, in particular. My father passed away and left two huge storage buildings on a farm in Petaluma, along with several vehicles, a boat, 100s of tires, paint, chemicals, you name it. There was an initial misunderstanding with the call center, but the crew that showed up took it in stride and called in more help. Matt came out the next day to assess and we made a plan to get rid of everything over the next couple weeks. I told him there were two things I was looking for and he conveyed that to his guys and saved the photo albums for me. He gave me his cell # and was available any time I had questions, etc. I had to go back home to GA and he sent pictures of the progress. We used Junk King a week ago to clean out very heavy, old bedroom furniture, with stairs included. The scheduling process was simple and efficient, and the crew even arrived early. (If you can provide a photo of the items to be removed, they can give you an accurate estimate, so that there are no last-minute surprises.) I had an extraordinarily impressive experience today with Junk King... and after witnessing what these guys today are capable of, I really wouldn't ever consider using a different Junk Removal Service in the bay area again. Joe originally came out with one other guy to do initial estimates. Jacob came back later that day to do a 2nd analysis (this was a really hard job). Jacob seemed to lead the team on removal day, and the other guys were Joe, Justin and Sergio. Everyone did GREAT. The job I needed them for was far larger than what I can imagine is normal. If I had to guess, it was probably one of the heaviest jobs they have had. We had about 18,000 pounds of scrap metal that needed clearing, with three separate antique printing presses that weighed about 4,000 pounds each. The machinery was all deep inside of an old building, without a proper loading dock or means of access for the exit. After receiving bids from multiple companies, Junk King's prices were right in line with everyone else. They came in higher than some companies, lower than others, but they are LICENSED and INSURED for $2,000,000 and were very professional with their attitudes, appearance, and the quality of their trucks. It was a no brainer choosing them over their competitors. They rented a fork lift to get the gear out, and it was an extremely difficult job. They came with two separate trucks. They literally had millimeters of room to get through on some tight squeezes carrying enormous lynotype printing presses from the early 1900's... but they did it - without destroying my building, and without injuring anyone in the process. I was biting my finger nails the whole way through, as this was a SERIOUSLY risky job... but they totally pulled it off - and they did it far faster than I anticipated that they could. They showed up on time, were friendly, and did a great job. Clearly, this is the Junk Removal and Hauling company that you want to use. read more

I called and spoke with a very courteous man who set me up with the day and time that I needed. Once the guys arrived to remove the old couch they were also very courteous. They called beforehand to confirm and even asked if they could come a little earlier. Once in my home they were very mindful of other surrounding items and worked with care. Junk King is the ONLY company to call to get your junk removed! We had a lot of junk to remove -- and not just your run-of-the-mill junk, because we live on a ranch. We had large and heavy broken down farm junk. The Junk King men showed up on time and gave us an excellent bid. Then came the actual junk removal which took considerably longer than expected, but the Junk King guys used their ingenuity and skills with various equipment and receptacles to get rid of all of our junk! A former tenant contracted with Junk King to remove a huge mess she had left on my property. They said that it would be a 2-day job and scheduled it for last Monday and Tuesday. Three workers arrived close enough to the appointed time. I was hopeful, but noticed that they had no safety equipment beyond light vinyl gloves, even though the task at hand was to dismantle a whole manufactured home and get it into dumpsters. On that first day, one of the workers' wives arrived with 2 young girls and a bunch of small dogs. They visited for a significant period during which no one on the crew appeared to focused on the job. They left around 3 PM. The trailer was partially dismantled. The driveway was full of shards of glass. The wind was up, so loose insulation was blowing all over. By the next morning, my property and that of my neighbors was full of that stuff. The lead worker, who again showed up without any protective gear beyond gloves, informed me that it was too windy, so the crew would leave at noon and come back "some other time to finish." He explained that he had other jobs to bid. I told him this was not an acceptable plan. He said tough. Then I got angry and called the main company. A very nice receptionist went back and forth with her boss and they got the local franchise to stay on the job. The the franchise owner called me and started yelling at me. I yelled back. They left the yard covered with shards of broken glass and carefully placed an old tire they had been paid to remove under a pile of planter trays. When I called the main office again about their finishing the job or paying me to, they blew me off. This whole company stinks. I don't know if my status as a senior woman was a factor, but it certainly felt like it. This is not acceptable behavior for any company. Do NOT give them your business unless you want you property trashed and your time wasted. My next stop is OSHA. These folks pose a danger to themselves and others. read more
