Junk Cat gave me an estimate of $700 when 1-800-GOT-JUNK estimated $1,200 for a giant pile of wood, metal, and about 2000lbs of concrete from an old shed I tore down. Needless to say I went with Junk Cat and I was beyond pleased with their service. Sean and Nick are local guys who offer personable service versus the corporate/commercial guys. That alone made me feel great about giving them my business. They worked fast hauling the garbage from my backyard, double checked with me to make sure they got all that I asked, and even cleaned up the area afterwards. Nick is one of those people you wish were running your life. First of all, he is kind--big in my book. He is a fair and generous employer, paying for health insurance for his crew. He is accommodating and patient, agreeing to a last-minute request for a day and time change. He comes prepared after asking detailed questions on the type and quantity of things to remove. He is cautious and lawful, saying he could not remove junk as requested/paid for by me on behalf of my somewhat reluctant hoarder uncle and his wife without uncle/aunt's full approval (at one point, I thought of clearing stuff while uncle was out, but Nick dissuaded this plan). He is impeccable about time, calling me when he left his office and when he was just a few minutes away, wanting to ensure he didn't arrive before I did to the property. Nick is a superhero of junk removal: maybe the next Avenger? Moved at a speed I could barely keep up with, he was cautious about confirming what we wanted gone and specifically asked when he came upon something that he thought we might still want. His organization and clear instruction to his crew were amazing. Not one minute was lost. He left the house swept of dirt and debris (who does that?). He didn't flinch when a rat jumped up at him while removing a pile of 5 foot books/clothing/junk (said he's seen worse). Before they swept, Nick went to his truck and brought back haz-masks for my uncle, aunt, and me; he didn't want us breathing the dust. Who does that? Sadly, Nick doesn't know how long he can sustain his business. He often doesn't even net minimum wage from his jobs (that most of us think way too expensive). It is extremely competitive, the junk business. Health insurance and marketing alone cost him $100 k/year. Hire Nick!!! You will not regret it!!! He is my hero. read more

Used the Yelp "request for quote" feature to get a handful of bids, and Junkcat provided the best deal. Finalized the details over the phone with Nick, confirmed schedule over Yelp message, and Nick and Shawn showed up on time the next day, on a Sunday. (2 hour window with a call 15 minutes prior to arrival.) Very courteous people. Their phone app allows them to take payment with credit card and send receipt to your email. We moved across the country and had a considerable amount of items that we needed to dispose of. Nick was very responsive to my inquiries, and gave a very accurate quote, which was in line with others I had requested. Any follow-up questions I had were answered within minutes. There was a glitch in his reservation system, so on the day of our scheduled pick-up, the appointment was dropped in error. When I called to inquire (since nobody showed up at the previously scheduled time), Nick apologized and quickly remedied the error by arranging to come after his regular work hours on that same day, and also gave me a discount for the inconvenience. They double checked on the space that they had in their truck and updated me with the plan that they would first empty their load so that they would have enough space to take anything I needed them to take. Absolutely top-notch professionals. Great communication, great pricing, polite and fast. They'll ask you to text a picture if possible and then make a quote. I have used craigslist haulers in the past and #1. When you use Craigslist instead, it's anybodys guess if the stuff actually made it to the recyclers or was dumped by the road and #2. I felt like its a security issues to have randos just know where you live and what you've got. Junkcat is a legitimate business with roots in the community and a long reputation of good citizenship, so I felt much more peace of mind. I had a bunch of stuff for the land fill, a broken footstool, a couple of floorlamps and a full size bed, frame, and boxspring. These object needed to be out of my life, but I drive a compact! What to do? Call JUNKCAT, thats what. After texting the serice, they offered me an appointment window for the very next day (on Thanksgiving week too!)
