We visited Juno the Bakery on a Wednesday afternoon, when it wasn't too busy. There was barely a line to order at the counter, and it moved very quickly. My sister and I chose the Cardamom Bun and Rhubarb-Vanilla Bun to share. The interior was small with minimal decor, but there was a nice front patio with seating and greenery. Both pastries were phenomenal! The cardamom flavor was impressively strong and the texture of the dough was flawless. The Rhubarb-Vanilla Bun was more delicate, but equally impressive. Would happily return to eat more!
There was a line when I went, but it moves super fast. Only came for the cardamom buns and boy it did they not disappoint. Definitely have to eat them when they're warm. There's some seating outside, but they fill up pretty quick. They have a bench on the side where you can eat standing up. Would love to try their other pastries.
Pastries made in heaven!! First time in Copenhagen, first time trying danish pastries and first time I fall in love so easily with just one bite. Im still in awe with this bakery and the quality of their pastries. The artistry and technic behind them all is amazing. I went crazy and ordered a lot of them, all incredible, but the vainilla custard bun was insanely delicious no exaggeration. It was savory and sweet, flaky and delicate, just perfection. Also the one with blueberries was delicious. We got there on a Sat around 11:30am, there was a line but it moved fast. Service was quick and efficient. JUNO is definitely a most if you are in Copenhagen!!!!
Worth the hype, worth the line. I still think about that cardamom bun - it was so good. Line moves by quickly. Some outdoor seating outside (few tables). They also sell coffee to go with your pastries. Tried a few bakeries while visiting CPH, and this was still the best one.
It took us 30 minutes to get here from where we were staying just to try their cardamom buns that are said to be the best in the city. It's a decent 10 minute walk (a little longer with kids) from the closest Metro station and there is no sign that I could see. What clued me in other than the map was the crowd. It's located at a corner and there was a line that spilled into the sidewalk with people lingering nearby. There are outdoor tables and the inside is small - but the line moved pretty fast all things considered. We were there at around 10 am on a Thursday and we were in line for just over 10 minutes. With the sheer amount of people, it gets a little chaotic when you get inside. You don't have long to see what they have, especially if you're short like I am. I only got 2 cardamom buns, a vanilla pastry, and a coffee with milk. (I later saw there was a whole other section of goodies that I missed along the windows.) A note for their coffee: it's either black or with milk. They don't have fancy caffeinated drinks. We managed to get a table outside (I opted to eat the vanilla pastry because I didn't want that smushed up in my backpack) and promptly discovered why there were tables available. Bees. If you're allergic to bee stings, bring your baked goods elsewhere and find a bench. The bees were everywhere as the pastries were all glazed and you took turns to taste the food as soon as they flew off. Sometimes, several land at the same time. Despite it all, they were pretty docile. We stayed until we were done. The vanilla pastry was really good! The custard was ample. I didn't manage to eat the cardamom bun until the next day at the airport and despite its sad state that looked nothing like it did when purchased, it was so delicious! Even 24 hours later. The actual bread was still beautifully soft and melt in your mouth. The cardamom was super fragrant and seemed fresh. It also wasn't all that sweet. I found myself regretting not getting more, but maybe I'll be lucky enough to go back one day. Their cardamom buns are legit. I had several in the city and these were the most memorable hands down. I wish I could have brought home a crate of them.
We went just after they opened at 7:45. There was a line but it went really fast. The cardamom bun was amazing and so fresh (it was still hot out of the oven.)
If you live in CPH or visiting, this place is definitely worth a visit. Every pastry we ordered was delicious but the highlight for me was their cheese and butter sandwich - one of the best I have ever had and highly recommended. If you are looking for some original danish cookies, they have those available as well. The only under par item is the cardamom bun (IMO), for that I'd prefer the Hart bakery! There is usually a line but it moves fast. The staff is very helpful. There is some seating outside the cafe and a block over there is a little park with some benches where you can sit with your pastries and a coffee from the close by Prolog cafe to enjoy your pastries.
There's something extremely special about Juno the bakery. The way they're able to offer high quality baked goods, coffee, and overall experience at such a reasonable price deeply impressed me. I had a cardamom bun, strawberry tart, and almond pastry. All three were very fresh tasting, not too sweet, with a perfect dough. The staff is very friendly and although the lines get long they move very fast. Juno the bakery has a very modern appeal with their minimalistic yet timeless decor. Inside the bakery you also get a view of their talented bakers at work, which is also quite the treat.
My favorite bakery in Copenhagen! It was a bit out of the city center but with the metro it was easy to get to and well worth it. I would go in the mornings and there was always a line but it didn't take long to get to the front. I became obsessed with their cream bun almost immediately. It was perfectly sweet and had great texture - soft inside with a slightly crispy exterior. The strawberry pastries were great too - no notes! I grabbed some of their Danish cookies which were pricey ($35USD when I was there). The cookies were fine, if not for the cute tin, I would've skipped. They have outside seating which we tried to use but then got too many bee and bird visitors. Juno really outshined all other bakeries for me. It was the very first one I visited and so all other bakeries seemed like they fell short in comparison. If there's one bakery you need to go visit in Copenhagen, it's Juno.

That cardamom bun hit every texture note--crispy shell giving way to soft, chewy, slightly moist interior. The cream bun? Imagine the world's most elevated donut. Silky cream that wasn't cloyingly sweet, balanced perfectly with tart rhubarb brightness. But the Danish breakfast stole the show. Soft bread with just enough structure, creamy butter, and cheese with that perfect tangy bite. Simple ingredients executed flawlessly. **The Reality Check** Yes, these pastries cost more than your average coffee shop treat. And yes, that coffee was criminally small. But sitting on that patio, watching Copenhagen wake up while eating some of the best pastries on the planet? Priceless. **Bottom Line** This isn't just a bakery visit--it's a Copenhagen experience. Book the trip, find Juno, order everything. Your taste buds will thank you. Must-try: Everything. Seriously.
To put it simply...I'll be dreaming about Juno's cardamom bun for the rest of my life. The location is a little out of the way, but was the best bakery I tried while in Copenhagen.
My favorite cardamom bun in all of Scandinavia. Hands down. Also purchased some danish butter cookies to take home and they were so melt in your mouth decadent. Definitely stop by if you're in Copenhagen!
Juno the Bakery is simply a must visit in Copenhagen. Get there early before the doors open or else there will be a huge line. Every item I tried was perfection. The bun with butter was light and airy, with a simple yet irresistible flavor. The pan de chocolate was divine , flaky on the outside and rich with just the right amount of chocolate on top. The cardamom bun. Wow. Fragrant, subtly spiced, and not too sweet, it was the perfect pairing with a morning coffee. The vanilla danish with custard was another highlight, with a creamy, silky custard that balanced the crisp pastry shell. And the almond croissant was a show-stopper, filled with a delicious almond paste that made each bite unforgettable. Everything here feels like it's made with the utmost care, and the quality is unbeatable. Highly highly recommend.

Definitely worth the queue and wait (which wasn't too long tbh around 10-15 mins), had the delicious custard danish, cardamom bun and the almond bun. It's a small little cafe, so not much seating currently as they are renovating but if you like me, I found a bench just across the road and enjoyed my buns read more
Honestly the best cardamom buns I've ever had and I love cardamom buns in general. The addition of extra cardamom in the sugar on top is very thoughtful and ensures a good flavor to complement the perfect texture. The other pastries are good, but I believe the cardamom buns really shine and make this a five star establishment for me. Line was long but moved very quickly and there is a lovely playground across the street where I took my kids to enjoy our spoils! read more
There might be a line but it moves fast. We went around 8:30AM on a Sunday and only waited a few minutes. I went back closer to 10AM on a Thursday and there was no line (though a short one formed when I left a few minutes later). My wife says this is the only bakery we've had so far where she liked most of the things we got, whereas in other bakeries (several with Michelin star chefs also), there were only one or two things out of the half dozen+ that we usually get that she liked. It's goooooood. The flavors are unique and vibrant, and the pastries are so soft. Sure, the cardamom bun is good, but I loved the pain suisse (with Juno Rocher chocolate) and saffron bun. So much flavor! They also have cookies and chocolates to take home in nice, minimalist tins with their logo, so they make good gifts - I bought 3 round tins to take home to family. The expiration dates posted on the tins were 3 months out, so that made it easy to get some for family we weren't immediately going to see upon our return. There's no space inside to eat as it's a takeout place only, but in the courtyard outside there are a few tables with chairs, though you're in the elements (freezing cold in the winter, hot in the summer). Nevertheless we found it comfortable enough in late November to sit for a few minutes and eat the hot pastries quickly. It's a bit of out the way as you have to take the metro a bit outside of the city center, and walk a short distance. But it's worth the trip!! So much that I went back a second time in the same trip. read more
While visiting Copenhagen for a week, my friend I visited one to two bakeries a day, trying many pastries. By far the best is June the Bakery in Østerbro. It's a bit north of central Copenhagen, but worth the visit even if you have to walk for an hour. Get yourself to Juno pronto. Led by a former Noma chef, the bakery uses a mix of Danish and Swedish flours, staying true to the chef's Swedish background. In fact, the most popular pastry from Juno is their cardamom bun, a Swedish classic. Selling at 25 krone a piece, they are so popular, they keep a fresh plate of them on the shelf throughout the day. That means no matter when you go, they will be warm and chewy on the inside. The cardamom bun is so good that you'll eat it in a few seconds, but in case you need then, there are a few tables outside. read more

Greetings from Juno the bakery! Worth the hype? I would say it's worth a trip if visiting. My husband had the custard pastry (will add photo soon) and that in our opinion was a must! Everyone liked it better than my cardamom bun. The coffee was excellent too! There's a sweet park for those with children across the street ( will post those pics soon too). The line could be long but it moves. Also, seating could be a challenge since many hold seats for people they're waiting for. Might go back today for more! read more

This was our very last stop before we had to fly home! Many people said this bakery is a must as far as visiting so we woke up early to make sure we can get a few goods before going back to the US. They open at 0800 on Sunday's. We got there about 10 minutes before opening and there was already a line! Once they opened, the line moved efficiently. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bakery smelled so amazing. It was hard narrowing down what to get so we got a bunch of things lol We got cardamom buns, rhubarb pastry, almond pastry, and a chocolate croissant to go. All the pastries were very delicious! I think my favorites were the almond pastry since it had some almond filling and the cardamom bun because of how unique it is. All the pastries were the perfect texture and just so good. Definitely make a stop if you're ever in Copenhagen! read more
3.5 stars Had high hopes for this bakery, especially for the cardamom bread, but it was a huge disappointment. Came here with a few local friends and picked up the cardamom bread and the almond croissant. Took a bite of the cardamom bread and my heart sank. It looked way better than it tasted, which was disappointing as this is what they're known for? The cardamom taste was there, but the taste/texture was mediocre. Nothing special. My friend said the same thing about the saffron bread. So sad. The almond croissant had lots and lots of almonds on it and it tasted great (hence 3.5 stars instead of 2), but still, not something I'd go out of my way for, which we did. Unreasonably delicious, had the best cardamom knot of my life here. Was buttery, fresh, and perfectly crispy on the outside while tender on the inside. We went later in the day (~4pm) and they were still freshly baking pastries - managed to snag a cardamom knot right out of the oven. This was a very welcome change from bakeries in the US where everything is soldout by noon - much more leisurely and relaxed here. Also got a danish to go, where the lamination was done equally perfectly. Like all-things noma Juno the Bakery has garnered a lot of praise since opening, its location in an Østerbro residential building doing nothing to dissuade guests from lining up for a taste of goods baked by former noma Pastry Chef Emil Glaser. Currently occupying a fraction of its original space, renovations promising more room to work and seat diners Wednesday to Saturday from 07h30 to 18h00 and Sunday from 09h00 to 15h00, early arrivers will find the team hard at work while a lone clerk tends to orders and another makes Coffee. Priced similar to Hart, just four Pastries lining a row above Loaves and Rolls, it is after a quick queue that teeth can plunge into complex Sourdough impregnated with toasted Seeds or what many consider Scandinavia's premier Cardamom Roll that is somehow both golden-brown on the outside and nearly the texture of Butter within. Fortunate to receive all but the Roll warm, Pain au Chocolate shattering to yield molten insides, Nuts find themselves incorporated into every crevice of both Glaser's Almond and Pistachio Croissant, the better version a toss-up since each are irreproachable in terms of their taste and texture. read more

If you find yourself in Copenhagen, you MUST visit Juno the Bakery and try their cardamom buns!! Unfortunately I wasn't able to try their other pastries, but the cardamom buns are to die for. Truly one of the best things I've ever eaten. They are soft/fluffy and crunchy on the outside, and just perfection. The staff are also super nice and helpful, always serving with a smile! There's often a line here as well, but the line goes quickly and it's definitely worth the wait. read more
This bakery has changed my life- their cardamom buns are to die for. I went every day they were open during my stay in Copenhagen, including the morning I left which almost made me miss my flight! The dough is simply perfect- the layers, the texture, the seasoning... I also tried many of their other pastries, all of which were phenomenal. I highly recommend the pain au chocolat and their sour dough bun with cheese and butter, but really you can't go wrong with any of their offerings. read more

Came here around 10:30am on a Saturday and the line wasn't too bad - it moves quickly. The staff was pleasant, and they were disinfecting the door handle regularly. We ordered Juno's signature cardamom buns which were a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The texture of the bun was the perfect amount of crispy on the outside, balanced by a soft, sweet dough on the inside. The blend of spice and sugar was delightful. I'll definitely be back to try their other pastries! The only downside is that they don't have any crafted coffee beverages - only black coffee. If Juno had more variety with their coffee, they would deserve 6 stars. read more

So when in Copenhagen the sis in law decided to share this gem of a bakery. We have not had anything but the cardamom buns but the line is always long and there are always a couple of tables outside. Line moves fairly fast and we are Always left with the best cardamom buns. With the cardamom baked in unlike some other places. read more

The cardamom buns here are insanely good. If you're lucky, you'll get a fresh, warm batch, and your life will be changed forever. The blend of spices is so unique and is unlike anything I've ever had before. It's a little bit sweet, a little bit savoury, a little bit herby... and the bun itself is soft, buttery, and fragrant. I've stood in line for them (the staff are pretty efficient, so the line tends to move pretty fast), and trekked here in the rain for them. Always worth it. They don't have a huge selection of baked goods, but that doesn't matter, because everything else is secondary compared to those glorious cardamom buns. I've tried a couple of their other pastries (almond croissant, apple tart), and they were good, but didn't leave much of an impact on me. Grab and go, because it's a tiny place and there is very limited seating inside. read more

It lives up to the hype. There was a long line up outside the door (understandably), but I was appeased by the HEAVENLY smell that wafted from the inside. The selection was unfortunately a bit limited because I entered while some of their items were still cooling. I got the kardemomme snurre (what I came for) and the pistacie croissant (spontaneously). The snurre was 25 kr and the croissant was 35 kr. The staff I spoke to was super nice! I had a genuine Ratatouille moment when I tried the snurre. Usually a big fan of decadence and innovation but this was simple yet perfect. Soft, spicy, and sweet. Would 100% get again. And the croissant was also fantastic. Not something was would usually pick out but I'm so glad I did. The pistachio paste inside was rich and nutty. There were also raisins buried in the centre which was a very welcomed surprise. This review is a bit excessive but I'm writing this while still in a daze from the sugar. read more
Juno the Bakery. They're a small little bakery but they have the MOST HEAVENLY PASTRIES. Their flagship item is the cardamom buns and my oh my they are HEAVENLY. Even as I write this post, I can smell it and honestly I would go back to Copenhagen just for them. The buns are SO light and fluffy and pull apart like a croissant . The bun has a perfect blend of spices that gives it kick but then is mellowed out by the subtle sweetness of the sugar. Honestly I've had a lot of pastries in my life (and I meant A LOT) but this has to top 5. read more
My standard for croissants will never be the same after Juno.. I am visiting over Christmas, and they only open for 3 days out of all the days I'm here. And I went twice. The first time I got some saffron rolls, cardamom rolls, and pistachio and rose croissants, and almond croissants. Every single one of them went farrr beyond my expectation, they were amazing. The rolls (buns) are so light and fluffy and buttery. It's rich in flavor, but light in texture. It's like brioche buns. And the croissants were buttery and crunchy. I wanted to try their classic croissants to but they sold out by the time I got there. (10:30 ish) So i went again, this time I got there at 8:10 soon after they opened. I got both classic and chocolate croissants. Best i have ever had. The outside is perfectly caramelized, and the layers on the inside are so defined. I got 3 of the classic ones.. and I finished all of them the next day and am already craving more.. There was a short line when I went both time because the inside is small, but it doesn't take long. Looking forward to coming back!! read more

Yes, the hype is in fact real for the Cardamom Bun. The texture is soft with the perfect amount of crunch. It's definitely one of the better pastries that I've had since moving to Copenhagen from New York City. When I arrived, there were maybe 6 people in front of me. The wait was maybe 15 minutes which wasn't unbearable. I don't mind the wait if what I'm waiting for is worth it. In this case, it was totally worth it. I'd do it again. read more

This is probably the best bakery in Copenhagen. There will most definitely be a line out the door, but it is worth it! The cardamom roll and almond croissant are not only beautiful, but simply amazing. You will want to come back. read more
